The DJI Osmo Pocket 4 Is Here With 4K/240fps, Unless You’re In The USA

The DJI Osmo Pocket 4 Is Here With 4K/240fps, Unless You’re In The USA

DJI has announced the DJI Osmo Pocket 4, the latest version of its pocket-sized gimbal camera. Rather than reinventing the format of the Osmo Pocket 3, DJI has focused on improving image quality, low-light performance, and subject tracking, which are all areas that matter most to solo shooters and vloggers. But that won’t matter if you’re based in the USA, sadly, as the new product won’t be available to buy there.

For such a small gadget, the Osmo Pocket 4 boasts some impressive features. At its core is a 1-inch CMOS sensor capable of shooting 4K at up to 240fps, alongside 14 stops of dynamic range and 10-bit D-Log. On paper, that translates to better highlight and shadow retention, more flexible grading, and cleaner results straight out of camera, especially in tricky lighting conditions.

Improved Image Quality and Low-Light Performance

The Osmo Pocket 4 leans heavily on its 1-inch sensor to deliver cleaner images, particularly in low-light situations. Combined with its f/2.0 aperture, it should produce more natural-looking results without the heavy noise reduction that often softens detail.

The addition of 14 stops of dynamic range and 10-bit D-Log also gives shooters more flexibility when editing, helping retain detail in both highlights and shadows. It’s a practical upgrade for anyone shooting in high-contrast environments or changing light.

4K/240fps and Slow Motion Options

High frame rate recording is one of the headline features here, with 4K video available at up to 240fps. That opens up a lot of slow-motion possibilities while maintaining resolution, rather than dropping down to lower-quality modes.

There’s also a simple zoom system, with a dedicated button to switch between 1x and 2x lossless zoom, and an option to jump to 4x when needed.

Smarter Tracking and Autofocus

DJI has updated its tracking system to ActiveTrack 7.0, which is designed to keep subjects locked in even when they’re moving through crowds or when the camera is zoomed in.

Additional modes like Spotlight Follow and Dynamic Framing help automate composition, while Subject Lock Tracking and Registered Subject Priority aim to ensure the right person stays in focus. Gesture controls also return, allowing users to start recording or enable tracking without touching the camera.

Updated Controls and Usability

Physically, the camera remains compact, but DJI has added a few usability improvements. Rotating the screen now starts recording, and there are dedicated buttons for zoom and custom presets.

A new 5D joystick gives more direct control over the gimbal, including recentering and flipping the camera, which should make handheld operation smoother.

Built-In Storage and Faster Workflow

The inclusion of 107GB of internal storage means you can start shooting without immediately reaching for a memory card. Transfer speeds of up to 800MB/s should also make moving footage to a computer noticeably quicker.

Creative Tools and Shooting Modes

DJI has added several in-camera features aimed at simplifying the creative process. These include slow shutter video for motion blur effects, Film Tone profiles for stylised looks, and a built-in beautify mode for subtle portrait adjustments.

There’s also an optional attachable fill light with adjustable brightness and colour temperature for shooting in low-light or backlit conditions.

Battery Life and Charging

Battery performance is solid on paper, with up to three hours of use on a single charge. Fast charging takes the camera from empty to 80% in around 18 minutes, which should help minimise downtime between shoots.

Audio and Microphone Support

The built-in microphone array captures both voice and ambient sound, but the Osmo Pocket 4 also integrates with DJI’s wireless audio ecosystem. It supports direct connection to transmitters like the DJI Mic 2, allowing for multi-channel audio recording without additional receivers.

Price and Availability

As mentioned before, the DJI Osmo Pocket 4 isn’t currently available in the United States, which appears to be tied to ongoing regulatory and trade restrictions affecting DJI products. This isn’t the first time DJI hardware has faced limited availability in the US, and for now, there’s no clear timeline for when that might change.

In Europe, however, the Osmo Pocket 4 is available with a starting price of €499 for the standard kit, positioning it firmly in the mid-range for compact, all-in-one video cameras.
