If you have a period, you’ll know the struggle. You wait all year for summer, craving that first refreshing dip. And then the dreaded thing happens: that time of the month rolls around. End scene on all hopes of being cute and care-free by the pool.

As someone who seems to somehow always have her period on holiday, I’ve shouldered the hard truth that I’ll have to spend the rest of my menstruating life thinking about being near a toilet and asking for hourly tampon string checks when I should be relaxing.

Add to that the fact that all my pedantically-picked bikinis end up blood-stained, and it’s no wonder I’ve developed an avoidance of being near a body of water.

I’m not the only one plagued by this predicament: a survey by WUKA found that 71% of women have taken a contraceptive pill before jumping on a plane in efforts to avoid having their period on holiday.

I’m not stranger to these kinds of attempts myself. Many an evening has seen me thinking there must be a way around the holiday period blues, and attempting to restrict or put off my flow (read: gulping down as much water as humanly possible).

So, naturally, when I heard about WUKA’s period swimwear line, a ray of hope shone over my conscience. Formed of an aquaphobic outer layer and an absorbent inner gusset, the collection is designed to keep water out and your flow in. Need we mention they’re made from recycled nylon so they’re eco-friendly, and UV50+ resistant, too?

While splashing out on period-specific swimwear might seem like a lot, the peace of mind is, in my opinion, priceless. With 20% off all swimwear until 13 April (repeat: this is not a drill) and 20% off select pieces from 14 April, it’s time to be out with the old, in with the new: goodbye tampon strings, hello contained flow.

You book your flights, hire a car, decide where to stay and what to do. The holiday excitement is building. But somehow, when it comes down to it, you don’t want to pack.

As a firm believer that packing is the worst task of the holiday (especially when you’ve made some misguided purchases you have to squeeze into your luggage coming home) I always put it off until the last minute.

Unsurprisingly, this has often resulted in being completely underprepared for any realistic situation I might find myself in (and overprepared for the imaginary scenarios in my head). Most often, I end up so overpacked it’s impossible to unravel anything I need without sprinkling a generous layer of sand over everything I own.

But watch out, summer: this year, I’m a whole new person. Thanks to packing cubes I no longer have to spend hours folding and rearranging my belongings in a criminally undersized suitcase.

Now, I can group each category of clothes into one packing cube, and easily see what I’ve overdone it on.

Whether you’re a chronic overpacker or simply chuck a few bikinis in a bag and call it a day, don’t skip on these packing cubes to put your mind at ease that you haven’t forgotten the essentials.

Every now and then, something comes along that changes your life forever. It’s the start of any love story for the ages: girl meets sex toy, falls in love, and lives happily ever after. It could happen to anyone.

Since the suction category took off, this has been more true than ever. These oral sex stimulators, which pulsate air waves against the clitoris, have taken the world by storm.

Remember the hype for the Rose in 2020? The world shut down, and at the same time attitudes towards this petalled pulser blossomed, with people raving about their love for it on social media.

But we’ve moved on to better things since then. At least, the reviews on two Lovehoney suction toys seem to suggest so. As the owners of Pleasure Air Technology – used in toys from Womanizer, to ROMP, and the Rose – Lovehoney is no stranger to wet and wild (literally) feedback on its products.

UK chocolate maker that supplied Harrods enters administration

The London chocolate maker produced 300 tonnes yearly and supplied Harrods, Selfridges and Fortnum and Mason

A leading UK chocolate manufacturer, which produced 300 tonnes each year from its London factory, has entered administration.

Marasu’s Petit Fours has supplied major brands such as Prestat, Fortnum and Mason, Selfridges and Harrods. The company was established in 1986 by patissiers Rolf Kern and Gabi Kohler, with the goal of creating premium chocolates. It was acquired by the Prestat Group in 2006.

The firm became London’s largest producer of luxury chocolates, churning out over 300 tonnes a year from its 25,000 sq ft facilities in Park Royal. However, it has encountered challenging market conditions in recent months.

The chocolate industry has been grappling with global cocoa prices soaring to record highs in 2024 due to disease and extreme weather impacting cocoa crops.

Administrators were appointed to Marasu’s on 6 February, with Alessandro Sidoli and Jessica Barker of Xeinadin Corporate Recovery Limited named as joint administrators, reports the Mirror. This followed Prestat also entering administration. Prestat continues to operate as an online store. The luxury chocolatier, established in 1902, closed its historic Piccadilly shop in central London in February.

In recent years, the chocolate industry has struggled with global cocoa prices surging to record highs in 2024 and cocoa crops being hit by disease and extreme weather, including flooding and droughts, in key producing countries such as Ghana and the Ivory Coast. These countries together account for about 60% of the world’s production.

The closure follows a prepack administration arrangement that will see Prestat acquired by chocolate manufacturer L’Artisan du Chocolat, which is owned by Polus Capital Management.

Prestat held two Royal Warrants and counted the Royal Family, including Princess Diana, amongst some of its most renowned customers. In 2003, The Economist magazine even named it as one of the top three chocolate shops in the world.

The Piccadilly shop inspired Roald Dahl, who referenced Prestat’s truffles in his novel My Uncle Oswald. The store, which was among the few to continue making its own chocolates, is also said to have inspired the fantastical sweet shop in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

I’ve already waxed lyrical about how bright pops of colour are a particularly hot trend in the fashion world right now.

Cool girl celebs from Zoë Kravitz to Dakota Johnson have been seen sporting bold-coloured accessories that add an eye-catching, not to mention chic, touch to their off-duty outfits.

But the colour I’m seeing the most, and the colour I’ve found myself craving, is big, bold, vibrant red.

It’s the perfect antithesis to the clean-girl beige that’s been everywhere for years, and I can’t get enough.

If you feel the same, do me a favour and have a gander through my spring shopping wish list. If I’m lucky, dear readers, you’ll buy up everything on it before I lose the will to resist…
