Exclusive | How Savannah Guthrie’s ‘Today’ return ‘controls’ investigation and could help find missing mom’s kidnapper

Savannah Guthrie’s consistent TV presence when she returns to “Today” will be a huge help in the ongoing investigation into her mother’s disappearance.

Savannah’s NBC co-hosts announced on Friday that she will be returning to her position at “Today” on April 6 after her beloved mother, Nancy Guthrie, was kidnapped from her Arizona home on Feb. 1.

Former FBI Agent Jason Pack exclusively tells Page Six how Savannah going back to work could help the investigation, saying, “Savannah has a platform most families do not have, and she is using it.”

“Every morning that she sits behind that desk, her mother’s face will stay in front of millions of people. That matters,” he continues. “That is fighting back the only way she can right now and gives her control over how she and her family choose to navigate the worst thing that has ever happened to them.”

Pack says, “I think the bottom line is this: You might be able to kidnap someone’s mamma, but you sure as heck can’t kidnap their backbone. The strength you see in people during these cases never stops surprising you.”

The ex-agent adds that you hold onto what you can control and show up.

“You do not hand the people who did this any more than they have already taken. That is the definition of strength. Plain and simple,” he explains.

Hoda Kotb announced Friday that Savannah is “coming back to this job that she loves here at ‘Today.’”

Craig Melvin added of his co-host, “Because she is not going to let sadness win. Joy is going to be her protest. It is where she belongs. It is where we all want her to be.”

Also during the interview, Savannah vowed not to fall apart during the family nightmare.

The news anchor went on to explain how her brother, Camron Guthrie, “saw very clearly right away” that Nancy could’ve been “kidnapped for ransom.”

Savannah asked, “Like, how dumb could I be? I didn’t want to believe it but do you think because of me?’ And he said, ‘I’m sorry, sweetie, but yeah, maybe.’”

Pack added, “Fighting back the only way she can right now and gives her control over how she and her family choose to navigate the worst thing that has ever happened to them.” savannahguthrie/Instagram

She continued, “But I knew that — I hope not, we still don’t know. We don’t know anything, so I don’t know that it’s because she’s my mom and somebody thought, ‘Oh, that lady has money, we can make a quick buck,’ that would make sense but we don’t know.”

Savannah said the thought of her mother being kidnapped for ransom because of her profession is “too much to bear.”

She heartbreakingly said, “That it’s because of me and I just want to say, I’m so sorry, mommy.”

Nancy was reported missing on Feb. 1 after she missed a virtual church service.

Authorities said in a press conference that it is believed Nancy was abducted in her sleep and “harmed,” as a trial of her blood was seen outside of her Tucson, Arizona home.

Video and photos of a masked individual were released to the public on Feb. 10.

Savannah also gave more details on the abduction during Thursday’s part of the interview, saying, “The doors were propped open, there was blood on the front doorstep and the Ring camera had been yanked off.”

A number of people have been questioned in the kidnapping, but no suspects have been arrested.

Andy Cohen was told that Mary Cosby’s memorial for her late son, Robert Jr., was “rapturous.”

The “Watch What Happens Live” host, who could not attend the funeral, said he got a “full report” of the services from other Bravolebrities who showed up to support Cosby.

“I had so many things to do with the kids this weekend, a lot of commitments, which is why I actually was not able to go to Robert Jr’.s service on Saturday in Salt Lake City,” Cohen, who is dad to kids Ben, 7, and Lucy, 3, said on his SiriusXM show, “Radio Andy Live,” Monday.

The Bravo boss said the cast and production team for “RHOSLC” were present, along with other “Housewives” such as Cynthia Bailey, Sheree Whitfield, and Kyle Richards.

“I love it that they went,” the TV host, 57, added. “I think that is so kind. They are real ones, those three.”

“And Mary was on one, I mean, in a spiritual way. She was spiritually on one, let me say that,” he revealed.

Cohen said Richards informed him that Robert Jr.’s father, Robert Cosby Sr., delivered a speech that “was unbelievable.”

During the “RHOSLC” Season 6 reunion, Mary, 53, revealed that she feared her son, who was incarcerated in Salt Lake County Metro Jail due to violating a pretrial protective order against his now ex-wife, Alexiana Smokoff, at the time, would die months before his passing.

“It’s just, you don’t want to see your kid suffer, but I know it’s good,” she explained about her son being in jail. “And I’d rather him be there than dead, you know?”

During a 2024 episode of “RHOSLC,” Robert Jr. detailed his drug addiction, saying that he would often take 10 OxyContin pills a day.

Cruz Beckham shares hope for reconciling with brother Brooklyn as he sends loving birthday message

Cruz Beckham said he hopes to repair his fractured relationship with his older sibling Brooklyn Beckham while chatting with TMZ on Wednesday in Paris, France.

The singer, 21, wished the media personality, who turned 27 that same day, a happy birthday on camera, four years after rumors of a familial strife began swirling in 2022.

However, Cruz, who is currently on tour with his band Cruz Beckham & The Breakers, dodged questions about whether or not the two had recently spoken.

The artist thanked the reporter before crossing the street alongside his girlfriend Jackie Apostel.

Cruz and Brooklyn’s parents, David and Victoria Beckham, acknowledged Brooklyn’s special day on social media Wednesday, despite their estranged son’s no-contact ban.

“27 today 🥹 Happy birthday Bust 🤍. We love you x,” the athlete wrote on his Instagram Story beneath a picture of himself, the fashion designer and Brooklyn in a pool.

The Spice Girls member, 51, re-posted that same shot to her own Instagram Story, writing, “Happy birthday Brooklyn, we love you so much ❤️.”

David, 50, also posted a black-and-white pic of him with Brooklyn as a child, while Victoria added an image of her playing with their eldest child to her Story.

Brooklyn spent the day with his wife, Nicola Peltz, with the model showing off her display of gold balloons, flowers, presents and a box of pink donuts that spelled out “Happy Birthday, Brooklyn” via Instagram.

“Wow, that’s cool,” he gushed while eyeing his treats.

“You have to make a wish,” Nicola replied.

“Happy birthday, I love you,” she added. “I hope your wishes come true.”

“Aw, this is so sweet,” Brooklyn noted.

The British star’s birthday come two months after he allegedly asked his parents to only contact him through a lawyer.

At the time, the Daily Mail revealed that the aspiring chef reportedly said he also didn’t want David or Victoria to make public statements about him on social media.

“David was told to speak to them via [law firm] Schillings,” a source expressed to the outlet. “That was the only way for them to communicate.”

The Beckham family drama took a turn in January after Brooklyn wrote a scathing series of Instagram Stories declaring that he did not want to reconcile with his family, which includes Cruz, brother Romeo, 23, and sister Harper, 14.

He alleged that Victoria and David have tried to ruin his marriage to Nicola.

The couple tied the knot in 2022, with Brooklyn claiming that his mom “hijacked” his and the “Bates Motel” actress’s first dance and “cancelled making Nicola’s dress in the eleventh hour.”

David and Victoria have not publicly addressed the allegations, though Brooklyn’s siblings have tried to publicly make amends.

In February, Cruz posted a series of throwback shots with his brothers.

Then, on Valentine’s Day, Harper posted a shot of herself and three brothers, writing, “I love you all so much words can’t describe it.”

But despite the siblings’ kindness online, Brooklyn previously covered up his tattoo tributes to the Beckham brood.

The “Cookin’ With Brooklyn” star used to have Romeo, Cruz and Harper’s names on his fingers. In January, however, eagle-eyed fans noticed the ink is no longer visible.

Instead, Brooklyn is sporting a cloudy black-and-white design on the spot.

Despite having more than 70 tattoos in honor of Nicola, 31, the British entrepreneur also covered up his tribute to his parents.

Brooklyn replaced the word “DAD” in an anchor on his right arm with a starfish and life preservers. Now, a floral design covers up the “mama’s boy” on his chest.

Brooklyn has also appeared to have covered a “Mum” tattoo on his shoulders with a flower and dragon artwork.

‘Euphoria’ creator Sam Levinson donates generous $27K to GoFundMe for Eric Dane’s daughters

“Euphoria” creator Sam Levinson and his wife, Ashley, donated a generous $27,000 to a fundraiser for Eric Dane’s daughters, Billie and Georgia, following his death.

The GoFundMe campaign, which was created by friends of the Dane family, sits at $171,555 with the Levinson’s contribution, as of Saturday morning.

The fundraiser was created with a goal of $250,000.

It was reported that a crowd-fundraiser had been started to help Dane’s teenage daughters on Friday, just one day after the actor died.

“Following his diagnosis, Eric became a passionate spokesperson for the [amyotrophic lateral sclerosis] ALS community, using his voice and platform to advocate for fellow patients and to push for greater awareness. Even as his own health declined, he remained deeply committed to helping others facing the same devastating disease,” reads the campaign description.

“As his illness progressed far more quickly than anyone could have imagined, Eric’s friends have come together to create this GoFundMe to support his girls and their future needs.”

After his death, several of Dane’s former “Euphoria” and “Grey’s Anatomy” co-stars honored the actor with touching tributes.

In a statement to Page Six, Levinson said he was “heartbroken” over the loss of his “dear friend.”

“Working with him was an honor. Being his friend was a gift,” he continued. “Eric’s family is in our prayers. May his memory be for a blessing.”

“He spent his final days surrounded by dear friends, his devoted wife [Rebecca Gayheart], and his two beautiful daughters, Billie and Georgia, who were the center of his world,” his family confirmed in a statement to People.

“Throughout his journey with ALS, Eric became a passionate advocate for awareness and research, determined to make a difference for others facing the same fight. He will be deeply missed, and lovingly remembered always.”

The family noted that the “Grey’s Anatomy” alum “adored his fans” and “is forever grateful” for the love and support he’s received over the years. They’ve asked for privacy at this “impossible time.”

In the new Netflix series “Famous Last Words,” which was released on Friday only hours after his death was announced, Dane was able to share his final words to his daughters.

“I tried. I stumbled sometimes, but I tried. Overall, we had a blast, didn’t we?” he started, before sharing one last lesson for his girls.

“I hope you won’t just listen to me, I hope you’ll hear me,” he began. “First, live now, right now in the present. It’s hard, but I learned to do that.”

“For years, I would wander off mentally, lost in my head for long chunks of time, wallowing in worry and self-pity, shame and doubt,” the “Charmed” alum continued. “I replayed decisions, second-guessed myself. ‘I should have done this. I never should’ve done that.’ No more.”
