A 55-year-old St. Catharines, Ont., man faces two counts of sexual assault following a Niagara Regional Police Service investigation.

Detectives began investigating in March after two teen girls reported assaults between May and January, police said in a news release Wednesday.

On April 15, officers arrested and charged Shawn Hollingworth with two counts of sexual assault and sexual interference.

Hollingworth “was an acquaintance of the victims’ families, and the offences are alleged to have taken place at a home in St. David’s,” police said.

He was scheduled to attend a bail hearing in St. Catharines Thursday.

Detectives believe there may be more alleged victims going back to the early 2000s, police said. They asked anyone with information, or who may be a victim, to get in touch.
