Senators’ Tkachuk ‘feeling good’ after injury vs. Islanders
Brady Tkachuk appears to have avoided a major injury after a scary scene over the weekend.
The Ottawa Senators captain appeared woozy on the ice after an accidental collision with New York Islanders defenceman Ryan Pulock on Saturday and didn’t return to that game. He also missed Sunday’s game against the New Jersey Devils.
But on Tuesday after practice, Tkachuk told reporters that while he lost vision on Saturday, his test came back clear and he feels “great.”
“That was one of the weirdest, honestly scary moments,” Tkachuk said. “Did a bunch of tests, feeling good, we’ll see about tomorrow, but ready to go for what’s to come.”
The Senators close the season at home on Wednesday against the Toronto Maple Leafs (7:30 p.m. ET on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+). Ottawa is still waiting to see whether it will face the Buffalo Sabres or the Carolina Hurricanes in the playoffs.
“For us it’s still having the mindset that every game means a lot,” Tkachuk said of the uncertainty about their first-round opponent. “It’s just being ready to go and whoever we do end up playing, that just making sure that we’re ready to compete for a seven-game series.”
