Meet our adventure dog, Penny.

We rescued Penny on November 4, 2024, but in many ways, it feels like she chose us. One Saturday morning, we decided we were ready for a puppy. We opened PetFinder, saw Penny’s face, and that was it. We did not scroll. We did not compare. We just knew. We immediately filled out an application and met her that Monday evening.

From the moment we met her, Penny greeted us with big kisses and a wagging tail, and we fell in love instantly.

On May 4, 2025, we celebrated her first birthday, and since then, she has accomplished so much. Penny has completed beginning and intermediate training, agility, and her Good Canine Citizenship training. She is now nearly finished with her therapy dog certification. Even before officially finishing, she has already been working in my third and fourth grade classroom, bringing so much joy, comfort, and love to my students.

Penny truly lives up to her title as our adventure dog. She loves long walks, being a passenger princess, riding on paddle boards, and simply being her cute, goofy self.

Rescuing Penny was one of the best decisions we have ever made, and every day, she reminds us just how special second chances can be.
