Report: Mystics to re-sign Shakira Austin after Tempo’s offer sheet
The Washington Mystics will be re-signing the restricted free agent to a three-year deal after the Tempo came to terms on an offer sheet with Austin, Alexa Philippou of ESPN reported Monday.
The Mystics matched the Tempo’s offer sheet, which was worth $3.57 million, Philippou reported.
Austin became a restricted free agent after completing her four-year rookie deal last season.
Austin was the third-overall pick in the 2022 draft and has only ever played for the Mystics. The 25-year-old forward averaged 12.7 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.1 steals per game last season and was named the Associated Press’ comeback player of the year.
Austin struggled through injuries in both 2023 and 2024, only making 31 appearances across both years, but bounced back to play 38 games in 2025.
Austin played college basketball at Ole Miss and Maryland.
