“This is why Bears are not getting him” “Hard pass”: NFL fans react as Giants set asking price for Dexter Lawrence amid trade buzz
The New York Giants have set their asking price for Dexter Lawrence. According to NFL insider Ari Meirov, a Lawrence trade would likely have to mirror what the Tennessee Titans did when they traded A. J. Brown to the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Eagles gave up a 1st, but the deal only went through after Brown agreed to an extension minutes before the pick. In this situation, Lawrence wants a new deal, and the Giants want at least a 1st-round pick.
Thanks for the submission!
Furthermore, Meirov revealed that those interested in trading for the defensive tackle believe the Giants won’t entertain any deal that doesn’t include a 1st-round pick and possibly more.

A fan said, “And this is why the Bears are not getting him. No way we’re giving up that much.”
Another added, “For a guy who will be 29 years old? Hard pass.”
One wrote, “Would you pay a 1st (and more) for Dexter Lawrence or is New York overplaying its hand compared to the Quinnen deal?”
Some weren’t as critical.
One said, “1st and a 3rd is fair. An off year but still is who he is. Our run D has been so gutted though. A lot needs to be done.”
Another wrote, “The Giants cannot trade him for anything less than a 1st. Insanity to entertain anything else.”
One chimed in, writing, “And they shouldn’t. He would be worth that even after a so-so recent season.”
It’s important to note that when the New York Jets traded star defensive tackle Quinnen Williams, they received a 1st-round pick in 2027 and a 2nd-round pick in 2026 from the Dallas Cowboys. Lawrence plays a similar role and impacts the game just as much as Williams.
This update comes just over a week after Lawrence officially made a trade request. He’s now searching for a new team for the first time since he turned pro. Teams looking to add the versatile defender might need to give up a Day 1 pick to get the Giants on the line.
Dexter Lawrence was the New York Giants’ sacks leader in 2022 and 2024
Dexter Lawrence has been one of the first names on the Giants’ team sheet since his rookie campaign. The Clemson product earned PFWA All-Rookie Team honors in 2019, and he’s added a couple of Pro Bowls and second-team All-Pro nods for his collection.
Lawrence is a quarterback’s worst nightmare when he’s in the zone. In fact, he has led the Giants in sacks twice over the past seven seasons. He recorded 7.5 sacks in 2022 and 9.0 in 2024. He earned Pro Bowl selections in both seasons.
Lawrence and the Giants were locked in contract talks for the past few seasons. However, nothing materialised, and the perennial Pro Bowler officially requested a trade on April 6.
Dexter Lawrence will have suitors as he’s just a season removed from earning Pro Bowl honors. He could play a part on a Super Bowl contender or serve as a calming presence for a rebuilding roster.
