Both John Cena and the Undertaker are two names synonymous with WrestleMania. However, both these legends will be attending this year’s Mania in a non-wrestling capacity. While the Deadman has some experience now of staying away from the ring, Cena is still getting used to it as he hung up his boots just 4 months ago.
Ahead of WrestleMania 42, The Deadman hosted a special edition of his Six Feet Under podcast with the Cenation leader as the guest. During their conversation, Cena highlighted the role Taker played when the company was facing many problems in the late 90s. This made the Undertaker visibly emotional and he even teared up.
Thanks for the submission!
“That number and that math gets really small when you know what it takes to get the company through tough times. You saved this company, it was on the verge of bankruptcy, it was on the verge of folding. It’s main characters were gone, it needed identity, it was working four TVs in Allen town, you guys were working Bingo halls in no attendance. You really had a topic shift, like you had a content shift, everything and you stuck it out. Like, and you could’ve gone elsewhere,” said Cena.
John Cena also pointed out how the Deadman inspired him to step in his shoes and take the mantle of the company.
So, when I’m supposed to be the next person to step in those extra wide shoes and try to run 10 feet. I just want you to know that you can bet on me, and you never had to say “hey you just show up”, because you just showed up. And that’s the effect that you have on people, that’s the effect that you had on me and to get your validation, you never had to say “great job”, ever, you allowed the bet to happen. And that’s respect, you’re the reason I drank so much of this sh*t.”
It is great to see the two legends share a moment of mutual respect with each other like this.
John Cena is set to host WWE WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas
After finishing up his wrestling career following a submission loss to Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event, John Cena is set to make his much awaited return to a WWE Premium Live Event. The Cenation leader is set to host this year’s edition of the Showcase of Immortals in Las Vegas.
The announcement was made a few weeks ago by Cena himself on his social media. Many fans thought that this was another attempt from the Stamford-based company to promote their ticket sales. Regardless, fans across the world are excited to see the Last Real Champion back.
It will be interesting to see what John Cena will have to say when he comes out at his first WrestleMania as a retired wrestler.
