Megyn Kelly calls Meghan Markle “Duchess of Duplicity” & calls out her alleged “narcissism” after she speaks at a youth mental health program
Megyn Kelly recently criticized Meghan Markle, accusing her of “narcissism” following the duchess’s appearance at a youth mental health event. The remarks came after Markle spoke at Batyr, an Australian youth mental health charity, on April 16 during a visit with Prince Harry to Swinburne University of Technology.
During the engagement, Markle addressed young participants and reflected on her experiences with online abuse, explaining that she had faced sustained bullying and trolling over the past decade.
“For now 10 years…I’ve been bullied and attacked…And I’m still here. And so when I think of all of you and what you’re experiencing, I think so much of that is having realized … that billion-dollar industry that is completely anchored and predicated on cruelty to get clicks… So you have to be stronger than that,” she said.
The following day, on April 17, Kelly shared a clip from her podcast, The Megyn Kelly Show, to X with the caption:
“The Duchess of Duplicity is out of control…@megynkelly unloads on Meghan Markle’s non-stop narcissism and Prince Harry’s weak public persona,”
In the video itself, Megyn Kelly sharply criticized Meghan Markle’s remarks and argued that Markle redirected attention away from the young people at the event and toward her own experiences.
After playing a clip of Markle’s speech, where the duchess talked about the bullying and trolling she faced as a public figure, Kelly remarked:
“What is she even talking about? Literally, the Daily Mail is not writing articles about the children in this mental health group. No one’s targeting those kids. You got targeted because…you sought out the most eligible man and bachelor in the world, who was putty in your hands because you knew exactly how to exploit him thanks to his mental trauma.”
Kelly further escalated her criticism by alleging that Markle had intentionally pursued her relationship with Prince Harry for personal gain.
“You targeted him. He was on your vision board. Don’t lie about it because I’m the one who broke that news,” she said.
Continuing her remarks, Megyn Kelly also suggested that Meghan Markle’s marriage into royalty was motivated by a desire for greater public recognition, referencing her acting career before joining the royal family. She argued that Markle “made it happen” because she “wanted to feel important.”
She further added that Markle wasn’t getting enough attention from her acting stint in drama series Suits, so she sought “a short form to mega fame” and chose to marry someone “way more famous,” ultimately becoming a larger public figure and, as a result, a target of media scrutiny.
What else did Megyn Kelly say about Meghan Markle’s speech at the youth mental health program?

In the aforementioned video, Megyn Kelly not only criticized Meghan Markle for what she described as narcissistic remarks but also argued that intense public scrutiny is something nearly all high-profile figures experience, noting that it is “often very intense and unpleasant.”
Expanding on Meghan Markle’s early public image, Kelly claimed the Duchess initially received overwhelmingly positive media coverage, particularly in the United States.
“You had the benefit of universally loving and …fawning press for a year when you started dating him, a biracial American princess. Oh my God, the US press went nuts,” she said.
The podcaster further elaborated that British media outlets and commentators had, in her view, gone out of their way to welcome Markle into the royal family, often reflecting on issues of diversity and representation. She characterized this reaction as excessive, noting that publications were “bending over backwards” to be inclusive and self-critical, which she ultimately described as “pathetic.”
However, Kelly argued that this positive narrative shifted due to allegations surrounding Markle’s conduct. She claimed that multiple individuals had left Markle’s employment following negative experiences, asserting that such reports marked a turning point in media coverage.
“And then you blew it by being a bi*ch and a bully to everyone around you. I think we are now at over two dozen people who have left your employ, many—most in tears—after the bullying you subjected them to… And then when news of your terrible behavior got out, the press turned on you,” Kelly explained
.

Turning to Markle’s recent appearances, Kelly criticized her for speaking about her personal experiences in settings involving vulnerable groups, particularly children. She claimed that the Duchess was using these engagements to reshape public perception rather than focus on the intended audience.
“Stop going to groups of children. Days ago, it was kids in a cancer hospital. Now it’s kids dealing with anxiety and depression—making it about yourself, your image rehab, or your need for publicity or to recast actual events of the past as something much more favorable to you… Just stop. Okay. Stop,” Megyn Kelly said.
Kelly continued by comparing Meghan Markle’s approach to conversations in which individuals redirect focus onto themselves rather than empathizing with others. She suggested Markle’s attempts to relate to struggling children were misplaced, adding that Markle had lived a life of “privilege,” making such comparisons inappropriate.
She also argued that Meghan Markle misunderstood the reasons behind her public criticism, suggesting it stemmed not from misleading media narratives but from public observation of her actions. Kelly stated that audiences had “watched” Markle “get every advantage” and “then cry” about the fact that no one had asked about her mental health.
The podcaster further added:
“And now she has a lecture for these kids on how you just have to be stronger. Why don’t you try being stronger? You sue every other publication that says something negative about you because you have such a thin skin. Because you did… shoot right to the top of the public figure scale by design and then couldn’t handle it when you got there.”
Meghan Markle is currently the mother of two and has taken on multiple roles, overseeing a slate of projects under Archewell Productions, launching a lifestyle brand, and positioning herself as a more private citizen.
Meanwhile, Megyn Kelly remains active in the public sphere through The Megyn Kelly Show, where she continues to weigh in on political, legal, and culturally relevant issues.
