“I will definitely be back”- Fan-Favorite star provides massive health update amid AEW absence

AEW is moving forward towards its Spring BreakThru week, following an epic edition of Dynasty from Canada. Tony Khan is focused on building the stacked shows with a star-studded lineup of top pro-wrestlers. However, there are some stars who are currently out of action due to serious injuries, among them is Kota Ibushi, who recently provided a major health update on social media.

In October 2025, Kota Ibushi sustained a broken femur injury after a horrific fall from the top rope during his match with Josh Alexander. Since then, the Japanese superstar has been in rehab to deal with his injury. It was rumored that Ibushi could be out for as long as two years to properly recover from the injury. Recently, the 43-year-old star talked about his injury and gave a positive update on his future.

Taking to Instagram, Ibushi shared a few pictures and videos where he was showing that now he can walk properly. The former NJPW star revealed in the caption that he is doing absolutely fine despite his injury.

“Rehabilitation through my personal life!! There’s meaning in where I go, there’s meaning in what I do, nothing is impossible! I’ll be 44 next month, and regardless of April, I’m working towards my return. Congratulations! lol It still hurts a lot, but just a week ago I could barely walk. Something has started to move,” said Ibushi. [Translated from Japanese]

Kota went on to say that while he may take some time to come back, he will return to professional wrestling following his second surgery down the line. In the meantime, he sent his love to Kenny Omega, Young Bucks, Tony Khan, and his other friends at AEW.

“Hello. It’s been about two months since my second surgery. I will definitely be back, so please wait for me. Sending these feelings to Kenny, Bucks, and Tony Khan!! To my dear friends,” said Kota.
