Man City injury latest and return dates for Arsenal as Guardiola issues update

Manchester City will face Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday in a tussle at the top of the Premier League table

Pep Guardiola is still dealing with several injuries ahead of Manchester City’s crunch clash with Arsenal on Sunday (4:30pm). Speaking in his Friday press conference, Guardiola confirmed the match will come too soon for Ruben Dias, who is still not ready, while offering an encouraging update on Nico O’Reilly, saying the youngster is fine.

City head into the game six points behind the Gunners but with a game in hand against Crystal Palace. Winning that fixture and beating Mikel Arteta’s side would move them level on points.

Arsenal slipped up last Saturday with a 2-1 home defeat to Bournemouth, while City responded by thrashing Chelsea 3-0 at Stamford Bridge. With the Premier League title potentially on the line on Sunday, Guardiola admitted that a defeat would effectively end his team’s title hopes.

“Yeah, obviously. If we lose, yeah, it’s over,” he said. “But the other two results knowing Arsenal didn’t win against Bournemouth, still they have games to play.

“Six games is a lot, our calendar, it’s terrible I would say: Everton away, Bournemouth away, Aston Villa the last game at home, Burnley, Crystal Palace, and Brentford.

“Crystal Palace, look what’s going on! Villa and Crystal Palace in Europe. Still many things to do…”

Ahead of those final games, Guardiola will be hopeful he can call on some of his injured players.

With that in mind, the Manchester Evening News has taken a look at the latest on Manchester City’s injury situation.

Ruben Dias

Injury: Ankle.

The Portuguese missed the FA Cup win over Liverpool after picking up an injury in training and wasn’t fit enough to return for the trip to Chelsea. Dias has been ruled out for the match against Arsenal.

Potential return date: Burnley (A), April 22.

Josko Gvardiol

Injury: Leg.

The Croat broke his leg in the reverse fixture against Chelsea in January and remains a long‑term absentee.

He could recover in time for the final weeks of the season, but there are no guarantees.

Potential return date: May 2026.
