The widow said she believes the foundation has in its possession about 3,000 of Hugh’s personal scrapbooks, which feature thousands of images of nude women engaged in sexual activity and intimate moments, CNN reported.

“The materials span decades beginning in the 1960s. And may include images of girls who were underage at the time and could not consent to how their images would be retained or controlled,” Crystal said Tuesday during a press conference with high-profile lawyer Gloria Allred at her side.

“They may also contain images of women who did not consent to their images being taken in the first place.”

Some of the pictures may have been taken while the women were intoxicated, Allred claimed.

Crystal said the photographs aren’t ones that appeared in Playboy magazines, but rather ones that “chronicled private moments that took place behind closed doors.”

Widow claims she was removed from foundation

Crystal said she was removed as president of the Hugh M. Hefner Foundation on Monday after voicing concerns over the scrapbooks. She said she was previously asked to resign but refused, per CBS News.

It’s unknown where the scrapbooks are currently located, but Crystal alleges they could be in storage at private facilities in California, noting she’s been previously told by foundation members that some might be at private residences where the photos could be scanned and digitized.

“Crystal did not consent to having her intimate images stored by and accessible to the foundation, and we believe that many of the other women and or girls depicted did not consent either,” Allred said.

Allred said Hugh’s diary, which could also be in the foundation’s possession, detailed private information about sexual encounters with women, along with graphic details such as tracking menstrual cycles of sexual partners.

Complaints filed in California, Illinois

Allred said regulatory complaints were filed with the attorney general offices of California, where Hugh lived, and Illinois, where the headquarters of the foundation is located. She is requesting an investigation into how the images are being handled and stored in an effort to prevent them from being distributed.

A spokesperson for the Illinois Attorney’s General Office told CNN it has received the complaint and it’s currently under review.

Crystal said she’s not seeking money, but rather “dignity, safety and the destruction of non-consensual intimate materials so that the exploitation does not continue under the banner of philanthropy.”

“Thousands of women may be affected. This is a civil rights issue. Women’s bodies are not property, not history, and not collectibles,” she said.

The Hugh M. Hefner Foundation has yet to comment on the matter.
