A police task force targeting car theft and overseen by the Sûreté du Québec launched a series of raids Tuesday morning in Brossard and St-Hubert in connection with a car theft ring operating in Quebec and Ontario.

In a statement, the SQ said warrants were used for three residences, and alleged the car theft network moved stolen vehicles overseas using Montreal-area shipping companies.

The results of Tuesday’s operation will be made public later.
