Fifth seed Andrey Rublev will square off against qualifier Hamad Medjedovic in the semifinals of the Barcelona Open 2026.

Rublev beat Mariano Navone and Lorenzo Sonego in straight sets to make the quarterfinals, where he was up against Tomas Machac. The Russian went down a break at the start of the first set but broke his opponent’s serve twice after that to go 4-3 up.

Machac struck back to level the score, only for Rublev to nab the next couple of games to claim the set. The latter raced to a 5-2 lead in the second set thanks to a double break advantage. However, Rublev failed to serve out the match in the eighth game. Machac fought valiantly in the next game but Rublev broke his serve one last time to wrap up a 6-4, 6-3 win.

Medjedovic came through the qualifying rounds and then beat Marco Trungelliti in straight sets in the first round. He followed it up with a 6-3, 6-4 upset win over third seed Alex de Minaur. He was up against Nuno Borges for a spot in the last four.

Medjedovic saved a set point in the 12th game of the opening set to force a tie-break, in which he came out on top to clinch the set. He was on the cusp of victory but got broken while serving for the match at 5-1. However, he broke Borges’ serve in the very next game to score a 7-6 (6), 6-2 win.
