Amazon prime confirms Jack Ryan: Ghost War’s May release date
Amazon Prime Video has officially confirmed the release date for Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War, marking the return of one of its most popular espionage franchises in feature-film form.
The streaming platform unveiled a trailer along with the announcement that the film will premiere globally on May 20, 2026, continuing the story after the conclusion of the hit Jack Ryan series.
The film sees John Krasinski reprise his role as CIA analyst-turned-operative Jack Ryan, bringing the character back for a critical global mission. He is joined by returning cast members Wendell Pierce as James Greer and Michael Kelly as Mike November, both of whom were key figures in the original series.
John Krasinski returns as lead in Jack Ryan: Ghost War slated for May 2026 release on Prime Video
In Jack Ryan: Ghost War , John Krasinski reprises his role as the titular hero, a character he has played for eight years since the franchise’s 2018 debut. Krasinski’s portrayal of Jack Ryan has evolved significantly over four seasons of television; originally introduced as a desk-bound CIA financial analyst and former U.S. Marine, he was pushed into the field after uncovering a series of suspicious bank transfers.
By the events of this feature film, Ryan has transitioned from an unassuming analyst to a battle-hardened field operative, forced out of a brief quiet life to confront a rogue black-ops unit that operates with chilling precision. The film also introduces fresh faces to the franchise with major new cast additions.
Sienna Miller joins the cast of Jack Ryan: Ghost War as Emma Marlowe, an MI6 officer who serves as Ryan’s unlikely new partner. Other notable newcomers include Mckenna Bridger, Max Beesley, and Douglas Hodge, who join returning veterans Wendell Pierce and Michael Kelly.
The upcoming addition marks the sixth film centered on the iconic CIA analyst and is the third major reboot of the franchise inspired by Tom Clancy’s Ryanverse. The film continues the story established in the Prime Video series Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan (2018–2023), bridging television and film into a single narrative timeline.
Jack Ryan: Ghost War is a collaboration between Paramount Pictures, Skydance Media, and John Krasinski’s own Sunday Night Productions. Distributed by Amazon MGM Studios, the film sees Krasinski not only starring but also co-writing the screenplay alongside Aaron Rabin.
The plot follows a retired Jack Ryan who is pulled back into the field to hunt a rogue black-ops unit. The film’s official synopsis reads:
“Jack Ryan is reluctantly thrust back into the world of espionage when an international covert mission unravels a deadly conspiracy, forcing him to confront a rogue black-ops unit, and the clock is ticking. Operating in real time with lives on the line and the threat escalating at every turn, Jack reunites with battle-tested CIA operative Mike November (Michael Kelly) and former CIA boss James Greer (Wendell Pierce), their combined experience the only edge they have against an enemy who knows their every move. Backed by an unlikely new partner – razor-sharp MI6 officer Emma Marlowe (Sienna Miller) – Jack and the team navigate a treacherous web of betrayal, facing a past they thought was long put to rest – making this the most personal, high-stakes mission any of them have ever faced.”
Jack Ryan: Ghost War will premeire globally on Prime Video on May 20, 2026.
