4 Indications that Paul Heyman will turn on Brock Lesnar after WWE WrestleMania 42

Paul Heyman has pulled double duty in WWE as he backs both the Vision and Brock Lesnar in their heated feuds heading into WrestleMania 42.

While the Vision acts more independently, Heyman is the primary voice for Lesnar whenever he appears. Lesnar then simply eats whoever he faces like a lion chewing on meat.

Despite not having a title attached, The Beast’s clash with upstart Oba Femi is one of the most highly anticipated matches booked at the two-night event. The Beast is always a box-office attraction, and Femi has dominated him in a few encounters.

WrestleMania is also the stage for the biggest possible twists to occur. Heyman chose to align with Seth Rollins last year after forgoing previous partnerships with both Roman Reigns and CM Punk.

Since everything fell apart with the Vision until they won the World Tag Team Titles, Heyman could be looking beyond WrestleMania. The next four signs indicate that Paul Heyman will turn on Brock Lesnar after WrestleMania 42.

#4. Gunther’s favor and Heyman’s recent history of owing favors

The last time someone asked Paul Heyman for a favor, it turned into one of the biggest talking points of the last few years at WrestleMania 41.

The Wiseman owed CM Punk a favor last year, and it turned into cornering Punk and not Roman Reigns at the PLE. Reigns then assaulted Heyman for staying true to his word with Punk since he agreed to help Reigns at WarGames.

Seth Rollins then orchestrated an even bigger betrayal as Heyman turned on his friend, Punk, and got revenge on Reigns for abusing him ahead of WrestleMania. The recent history of someone asking The Oracle for a favor is only a year old.

It could repeat itself in 2026 with Heyman turning his back on Lesnar to fulfill a favor to The Ring General. He’ll probably want to be the one to retire Lesnar this summer.

#3. Heyman’s long history of betraying his clients

When it comes to Paul Heyman, he’s been in the wrestling industry for over 40 years. He’s been a personality in WWE for nearly 30 years, but really came to the forefront after ECW folded.

Representing Brock Lesnar was the biggest job of Heyman’s career as he acted as The Beast’s mouthpiece. He betrayed Lesnar by siding with Roman Reigns as his Wiseman.

Heyman also represented CM Punk but rekindled his partnership with Lesnar once the Beast returned to WWE. After Rollins formed the Vision with Heyman and Bron Breakker, Breakker facilitated a coup, kicking The Visionary out of the group.

There’s too much history of betraying clients not to believe Heyman won’t do it again for a younger and potentially stronger and faster client in Oba Femi.

#2. Brock Lesnar is leaving/retiring this summer.

Brock Lesnar came back to WWE at SummerSlam 2025. It marked his first appearance in WWE since losing to Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam 2023.

The Beast attacked John Cena after he dropped the Undisputed WWE Championship back to The American Nightmare in the main event. Lesnar is 48 and is reportedly back for one final run before retiring.

The 2026 edition of SummerSlam takes place in Minnesota, a place near and dear to the Beast’s heart. He competed at the University of Minnesota, tried out for the Minnesota Vikings, and lived in the area for a large portion of his life.

AJ Styles wanted to retire at the 2026 Royal Rumble because it marked the 10th anniversary of his WWE debut. Goldberg had his final bout in Atlanta, Georgia, last summer.

If the former UFC Heavyweight Champion is indeed hanging up his boots this summer, it will force Heyman to find a new cash cow.

He can still represent the Vision, but he’s able to juggle multiple clients. Losing one massive talent will open the door to represent another big star.

#1. Paul Heyman has a vision for WWE’s future

Heyman aligned with Seth Rollins last year because both believed in a particular vision of the future for WWE and the wrestling industry as a whole. They basically formed another Evolution with Rollins in the Triple H role.

The group cared about what the future of the business looked like, and didn’t care who they had to cross to achieve their results. After adding Bronson Reed, the alliance became an actual faction.

The Oracle still has a vision for the future in sight, and the biggest possible way to achieve that is to cast off anything he may perceive as dead weight. Lesnar is far from that, but if he’s leaving soon, Heyman will focus on the future to stay relevant.

The easiest way to stay in the limelight and influence the coming years of the business is to latch on to can’t-miss WWE prospects. One is Breakker, and if Oba Femi runs through The Beast at WrestleMania, it could force Heyman’s betrayal.

It didn’t take much for him to betray Seth Rollins after joining his side at WrestleMania 42. His relationship with Lesnar served its purpose, but Heyman is a master of adapting and shifting allegiances when it suits his purposes.
