A 50-year-old woman is dead after she was hit by a semi Saturday afternoon in Winnipeg’s North End.

Officers responded to reports a pedestrian had been hit by a truck at the intersection of Dufferin Avenue and Main Street at around 3 p.m. on Saturday, police said in a news release issued Sunday.

A section of Dufferin between King and Main streets was blocked off following the collision.

The woman was taken to hospital in critical condition, where she died of her injuries, police said.

They said the driver remained on the scene and was co-operative with the investigation, which is ongoing.
