Weekend traffic: Avoid downtown on Sunday during St. Patrick's Parade

St. Patrick’s Parade

The
annual celebration of Montreal’s Irish heritage
will close de Maisonneuve Blvd. between St-Marc St. and St-Laurent Blvd. from 8 a.m. Sunday until after the parade completes in the afternoon. Neighbouring streets will also be used for staging, teardown and parking.
Champlain Bridge
The ramp from the bridge toward Route 132 in either direction will be closed from 10 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday and again from 10 p.m. Monday to 5 a.m. Tuesday for work on guard rails. Suggested detour is to continue on Highway 10 and turn around at the interchange for Highway 30.
Highway 20
on a reserved lane on the eastbound highway between Ste-Julie and Beloeil on the south shore. Two lanes will be open in each direction at all times, but entrances and exits may be closed during the work, which continues until November.
Highway 25
The highway, including the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine Tunnel, will be closed from 11 p.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday in both directions. The closure is from Sherbrooke St. in Montreal and Île Charron. Souligny Ave. will also be closed in both directions over the highway.
Highway 40
The Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge will be closed in both directions between 12:59 p.m. Sunday and 5 a.m. Monday for work that could be postponed in case of bad weather. The toll on Highway 30 will be suspended during this time.
Route 138
One of two lanes will be closed in each direction at Clément St. from Friday to April 18, as part of work on Clément St. near Louis-Fortier St.
Montreal streets
- De Lorimier Ave. (Ville-Marie): Closed northbound between René-Lévesque Blvd. and de Maisonneuve Blvd., from Mondays to Wednesdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Thursdays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., for the next six weeks, for water infrastructure work by the city of Montreal.
- Viger Ave. (Ville-Marie): Lane closures between the Route 136 entrance and Wolfe St. for the next two weeks, to replace a water main. Two lanes will be open during the morning rush hour and one lane during other times.
- De Châteaubriand Ave. (Rosemont—La Petite-Patrie): Will be closed from Friday to the end of June for sewer work between Jean-Talon St. and Bélanger St.
Continuing disruptions
- REM: Trains leaving Brossard have two alternating destinations — Deux-Montagnes and Bois-Franc. The latter trains will continue to Anse-à-l’Orme station when that branch opens later this spring. Display boards at the stations indicate the destinations of each train, and those on a train ending at Bois-Franc can simply disembark there and take the next train toward Deux-Montagnes to continue down the line.
- Highway 10: Eastbound Exit 3 for Carrie-Derick St. is permanently closed as part of the rebuilding of the Bonaventure.
- Highway 19 (Papineau-Leblanc Bridge): Two lanes are open on the bridge between Montreal and Laval in each direction, with partial or complete closings on some nights until the end of 2026.
- Highway 40 (Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge): The bridge is down to five lanes — two toward Montreal and two toward Vaudreuil-Dorion, with a fifth lane alternating directions (toward Montreal from midnight-10 a.m. weekdays and toward Vaudreuil-Dorion from noon to 10 p.m. weekdays and all weekends and holidays).
- Jean-Talon St.: Work on building the Blue Line métro extension means parts of Jean-Talon St. are closed. Affected buses (in particular 141, 188 and 372) are detoured onto Bélanger and Everett Sts. to avoid those areas, and a temporary shuttle bus (No. 814) has been established along Jean-Talon and Bélanger Sts.
- Côte-Ste-Catherine St. (Outremont): Closed westbound between McEachran Ave. and Davaar Ave. until late March for emergency electrical work.
- Berri St. (Ville-Marie): Major work at the Berri-UQAM métro station has resulted in Berri St. being closed between Ste-Catherine and Ontario Sts., and de Maisonneuve Blvd. being closed between St-Denis and St-Hubert Sts. until November 2027. Traffic is detoured via St-Hubert, Atateken, St-Urbain or Ontario Sts., or René-Lévesque Blvd., while cyclists are being diverted to Atataken and Ontario Sts. STM buses 30 and 50 have been cut short to avoid the area, and express bus 427 has been suspended, with additional departures added to the 27 bus on St-Joseph Blvd. in the Plateau. For more information, visit stm.info.
- Pie-IX Blvd. (Mercier—Hochelaga-Maisonneuve): Work to extend the SRB Pie-IX south means only one lane is open in each direction between Pierre-de-Coubertin Ave. and Notre-Dame St.
- St-Urbain St. (Ville-Marie): The overpass over the Ville-Marie Expressway is closed for a long renovation until the end of 2026. Pedestrian access is maintained.
