UConn awarded No. 1 overall seed in women’s 2026 NCAA Tournament


UConn is once again the team to beat in women’s March Madness.

The University of Connecticut was awarded the No. 1 overall seed in the 2026 Division I Women’s Basketball Tournament on Sunday.

The Huskies will play out of Region 1 in Fort Worth, Texas.

Joining UConn as No. 1 seeds will be UCLA (playing out of Region 2 in Sacramento, Calif.), Texas (Region 3 in Fort Worth) and South Carolina (Region 4 in Sacramento).

Connecticut finished its season a perfect 34-0, capturing its 24th total and 13th consecutive Big East title.

The Huskies are going for their seventh undefeated season in school history.

The tournament begins with the First Four games on March 18-19, then the first and second rounds starting on March 20.
