U.S. closer Mason Miller available for WBC final
Team USA will have their closer available if necessary in the World Baseball Classic final.
Manager Mark DeRosa confirmed before the game that Mason Miller is an option in the bullpen for Tuesday’s championship game against Venezuela (8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+).
Miller’s availability was up in the air after he closed out Sunday’s semifinal win over the Dominican Republic, recording two strikeouts and one walk in a clean ninth inning.
The San Diego Padres closer is one of the most feared relievers in baseball, with 104 strikeouts in back-to-back seasons. In 2025, he averaged 101.2 mph on his fastball, according to Baseball Savant, and struck out 44 per cent of the batters he faced.
The U.S. will start Nolan McLean in the final, while Venezuela will counter with Eduardo Rodriguez.
