Tyler Tardi takes over as skip for Mike McEwen’s old team

Tyler Tardi’s wild curling ride has seen him join a new team at a new position.

Tardi announced Saturday that he will skip a Saskatchewan-based team previously skipped by Mike McEwen.

Tardi, a B.C. native, was third for Kevin Koe’s Alberta team the past three years. This year, Team Koe lost in the Montana’s Brier final.

Tardi, 27, also won a gold medal at the Olympics as the alternate for Brad Jacobs’ team.

Tardi grew up as a skip in B.C., winning two world junior golds in 2018 and ’19.

With third Colton Flasch, second Kevin Marsh and lead Dan Marsh still on what is now Team Tardi, the squad has an excellent chance to chance to get one of three wild-card spots for next year’s Brier.

Teams must carry over at least three players to be eligible for wild-card spots, which are determined by Canadian Team Ranking System points.

The McEwen rink missed the playoffs at this year’s Brier.
