Two women are in hospital with serious injuries after they were hit by a car on Speedvale Avenue in Guelph on Friday morning.

Police were called to the intersection of Speedvale Avenue W. and Kathleen Street around 9:40 a.m.

“Two women were crossing Speedvale Avenue when they were hit by a car making a left turn,” a release by Guelph police said.

The women, aged 29 and 35, were transported to a Hamilton trauma centre with serious injuries. The driver of the car, a 79-year-old Guelph woman, was not injured.

Speedvale Avenue was closed for approximately four hours.

Anyone who witnessed the collision, or has dash camera footage, is being asked to contact police.
