Three youths accused of assault on GO train in Scarborough

A 16-year-old boy and two 14-year-old boys face assault and robbery charges after two people were allegedly attacked while travelling on a GO train in Scarborough.

And Toronto Police say investigators are seeking witnesses to the alleged assaults.

Police say officers responded Monday at approximately 4 p.m. to a call for an assault at the Rouge Hill GO Transit station, near Lawrence Ave. E. and Port Union Rd.

It is alleged that two victims boarded a westbound Lakeshore East GO train when they noticed the three youths on board. The boys, all wearing ski masks, started following the victims.

Police said the two victims attempted to move to another train car but the masked youths continued to follow them. One of the victims locked themselves in the bathroom to avoid the trio.

According to police, the victims then heard an announcement that the train was arriving at Rouge Hill GO station. The victims exited the bathroom and the three youths started assaulting them.

The assailants then stole some of the victims’ belongings before pushing them off the train and onto the platform, cops allege. One of the victims was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

On Friday, police announced three youths were arrested. The accused were each charged with two counts robbery with intent, two counts of wearing a disguise with intent, and aggravated assault.

Police say they are looking to speak with any witnesses who observed or interacted with the accused, or recorded the event on their phone.
