Cops say Jones also tipped his hat by collecting the blood of Colie Daniel, 28, to catalogue and keep on microscope slides.

Afterward, Jones of Indialantic, Fla., told his girlfriend: “I killed somebody and cut him up.”

According to cops, Jones had expressed a desire to murder Daniel, who lived in his neighbourhood, to his gal pal. His registered sex offender status apparently made him a target. Records published by Law & Crime revealed that Daniel was convicted in 2018 of lewd or lascivious battery with a victim 12 to 15 years of age.

“He wanted to kill him,” the girlfriend reportedly told cops.

List of sex offenders

According to the affidavit, “He had a printed list of nearby sex offenders. Daniel did reside nearby and was likely on this list of registered sex offenders Jones printed.”

Jones allegedly told his girlfriend: “[He murdered Daniel] with a baseball bat and cut up his body with a cleaver, a saw, and a knife.”

Cops say Jones then allegedly placed the sex offender’s remains in two suitcases and two large Rubbermaid totes. Some of the dead man’s remains were discovered in Palm Bay, where vultures swarmed around the suitcase.

Daniel was reported missing on March 22. His parents used “Find My iPhone” on their son’s iPad and it determined the phone’s location as 420 Watson Dr. — Jones’ address.

“[Jones] confirmed that Colie Daniel was inside of his home, but … he refused to come to the door,” the affidavit states. “Colie Daniel’s parents refused to leave without seeing their son, so Lucas Jones called law enforcement, who responded to the scene.”

‘She still saw blood’

Police, the dead man’s parents with Jones when his girlfriend of six weeks arrived. The suspect told her to keep it buttoned and wouldn’t let Daniel’s parents or cops enter the home.

“The residence at the time law enforcement and victim family members were there was an active crime scene, and Jones was in the process of cleaning up,” the document alleges, adding his girlfriend dropped a dime.

“Jones had already cleaned up most of the blood inside of the home, but she still saw blood in the tile grout, the carpet rugs, the baseboards, and the wall outside of his bedroom,” the arrest affidavit states. “She also noticed one tile outside of his bedroom was cracked and dented in the shape of a head.”

“Shortly after the Indialantic Police Department departs, so does Jones, who is accompanied by [the girlfriend],” the arrest affidavit says. “Prior to departure, Jones loaded up at least two gray Rubbermaid storage totes and at least one black suitcase into the back seat.”

The suitcases and totes were dumped at a number of locations. When the vultures pointed detectives to the remains, they returned to Jones’ abode with a search warrant and discovered a veritable slaughterhouse.

Girlfriend blabbed to cops

Two days later, the girlfriend told cops everything.

Among investigators, more startling finds at the death house were “evidence of microscope slides containing biological-matter.”A drill bit was located in a bag along with some of the remains. There was an injury observed consistently with a drill hole, similar in size to the drill bit found.”

In the smash TV hit Dexter, the protagonist, Dexter Morgan, is a forensic scientist with a secret: He’s a serial killer who only kills villains. He collects the blood of all his kills, keeping them on slides.

Jones is charged with murder, abuse of a dead body, transporting a human body in unauthorized containers, and tampering with evidence.
