The family of a missing Oakland business owner is ramping up search efforts across the East Bay, calling on residents to review security footage as volunteers and law enforcement widen the hunt.

About 60 people from the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office joined the search, which began around 8 a.m., with mutual aid teams from Contra Costa and Marin counties also assisting, as well as volunteers, according to KTVU.

Amy Hillyard, 52, disappeared March 25 around 2 p.m. after she was seen walking along Radnor Road in Oakland’s Cleveland Heights neighborhood, according to authorities. Nearly a week later, her whereabouts remain unknown.

“The search to bring Amy home continues, and we remain hopeful,” family friend Sarah Wachs told Fox News Digital. “We’ve had hundreds of people come together to look for Amy.”

Oakland police said Monday that Hillyard’s family had asked for another search, SFGate reported.

Authorities have classified Hillyard as an at-risk missing person due to a medical condition. Wachs told Fox News Digital that she is dealing with a health condition that may leave her disoriented and in need of help, but declined to share further details to protect her privacy.

According to Wachs, search efforts now include Oakland police, the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office and neighboring search-and-rescue teams. Volunteers have been combing hiking trails, canvassing neighborhoods and checking in with local businesses in hopes of finding any trace of Hillyard.

The family is now urging residents, particularly in Cleveland Heights, Lake Merritt, the Lakeshore District and Crocker Highlands, to check home surveillance systems for possible sightings beginning the afternoon she vanished.

Hillyard is described as 5-foot-4, about 120 pounds, with blonde hair. Police recently clarified she was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, light blue jeans and white sneakers with a black stripe, updating an earlier description of different clothing.

Authorities have classified her as an at-risk missing person due to a medical condition and issued an endangered missing alert Sunday evening, sending notifications to mobile phones across the East Bay days after her disappearance. A neighbor told KTVU that Hillyard left without her cellphone and has not been heard from since.

As concern grows, missing-person flyers have spread throughout Oakland and San Francisco, appearing near Jack London Square, along Grand Avenue and at the Powell Street BART station, SFGate reported. Posters have also been displayed at Farley’s East coffee shop, the East Bay café Hillyard co-owns with her husband.

Despite the expanding search, her husband said the family is still searching for answers.

“Missing since 2 p.m. Wednesday. That’s all we know,” Chris Hillyard said in a message to SFGate.

The case has resonated deeply in the community, where friends describe Hillyard as a connector and leader.

“She’s the kind of person that collects people, brings people together,” friend Serena Khaira said at a vigil Sunday, according to KTVU. “When you have a problem, she’s generally the first person you reach out to.”

In addition to co-running Farley’s Coffee, Hillyard operates a consulting practice and has advised leaders at major organizations including Apple, Gap, Electronic Arts and the Marine Mammal Center, according to her website. She has also been deeply involved in nonprofit and community work, serving on boards and leading pro bono efforts.

Hillyard currently serves as board president of the Piedmont East Bay Children’s Choir. In a statement to KTVU, the organization said her disappearance has shaken the community.

“This is incredibly difficult news for our close community. Amy is such an important part of our organization, and our hearts are with her and her loved ones as we hope for her safe return,” the group said.

Farley’s Coffee itself is a deeply rooted family business with a long Bay Area history. Founded in 1989 by Roger Hillyard in San Francisco’s Potrero Hill neighborhood, the café was named after his grandfather, Jack Farley, who disappeared in the 1920s.

The business was later passed to Roger’s son, Chris, and Amy, who helped expand it into the East Bay and local airports. The company describes itself as a community hub built on connection, tradition and shared space—values that many say Hillyard embodied.

Federal judge blocks Trump executive order to cease funding for NPR and PBS, cites First Amendment

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

A federal judge on Tuesday blocked the Trump administration’s efforts to defund PBS and NPR.

The ruling by U.S. District Judge Randolph Moss in Washington, D.C., pertains to President Donald Trump’s executive order to cease federal funding for both entities, an action the judge ruled was unlawful and unenforceable.

“It is difficult to conceive of clearer evidence that a government action is targeted at viewpoints that the President does not like and seeks to squelch,” wrote Moss, an Obama appointee.

“The Federal Defendants fail to cite a single case in which a court has ever upheld a statute or executive action that bars a particular person or entity from participating in any federally funded activity based on that person or entity’s past speech,” the judge wrote.

Republicans have long campaigned on ending federal funding for public media, citing left-wing political bias and wasteful spending of taxpayer dollars.

“The message is clear: NPR and PBS need not apply for any federal benefit because the President disapproves of their ‘left-wing’ coverage of the news,” Moss wrote.

The White House called Tuesday’s ruling “ridiculous.”

“This is a ridiculous ruling by an activist judge attempting to undermine the law,” White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson told Fox News Digital. “NPR and PBS have no right to receive taxpayer funds, and Congress already voted to defund them. The Trump Administration looks forward to ultimate victory on the issue.”

NPR claimed that Trump wanted to cut off access to public funds as punishment for its reporting. In a statement to Fox News Digital, Katherine Maher, NPR’s president and CEO, called Tuesday’s ruling a win for a free and independent press.

“The court made clear that the government cannot use funding as a lever to influence or penalize the press, whether as a national news service or a local newsroom,” Maher said. “Public media exists to serve the public interest—that of Americans—not that of any political agenda or elected official.”

Fox News Digital has reached out to the White House and PBS for comment.

While the government argued some legal claims were moot because of the organizational shifts following the initial defunding attempts, Judge Moss disagreed.

“But that does not end the matter because the Executive Order sweeps beyond the CPB,” Moss added. “It also directs that all federal agencies refrain from funding NPR and PBS—regardless of the nature of the program or the merits of their applications or requests for funding.”

The chair of the Hernando County, Florida, Democratic Party was arrested for allegedly hitting a man in the head with a bullhorn during a “No Kings” protest over the weekend.

Brian Stewart, 63, was charged with simple battery and booked into the Hernando County Jail after the incident on Saturday. He was released later that day, jail records show.

Deputies responded at around 10:30 a.m. to the intersection of Mariner and Cortez boulevards, where Stewart allegedly struck a disabled veteran — identified as Thomas Michta in police reports — in the head with a bullhorn. The incident occurred as demonstrators in Hernando County and across the country protested against the Trump administration’s policies, according to WTSP.

Michta told deputies he was walking through the protest when he and Stewart became involved in an argument, the outlet reported.

The man accused Stewart of striking him during the dispute and reported being in pain, with a visible lump on his head, according to an arrest affidavit, WTSP reported.

Deputies spoke to a witness who said he observed a fight during the protest.

According to the affidavit, video footage captured by the witness and reviewed by deputies showed Stewart using a bullhorn to hit the man in the head and push him in the chest.

After reviewing the video, the witness statement and Stewart’s own admissions, deputies said they developed probable cause to believe Stewart intentionally hit the man and caused bodily harm, the affidavit says.

A Washington man with four prior felony convictions is back behind bars after he allegedly shot a teenager in the chest over a neighborhood prank.

The incident unfolded as a group of four teens were throwing water balloons from their vehicle while driving through Tacoma on Feb. 28, FOX 13 reported.

One of the balloons reportedly struck 31-year-old Majeed Guerry’s vehicle, causing water to enter through an open window – getting him wet.

In response to the prank, Guerry allegedly chased the teens down a dead-end street near a dump site.

FBI director’s emails and personal photos published by Iranian hackers

Pro-Iranian hackers have leaked hundreds documents relating to FBI head Kash Patel (Picture: Shutterstock)

A pro-Iranian group has published personal emails and pictures of the head of the FBI after hacking into his accounts.

Hundreds of documents, pictures and a CV of Kash Patel have been shared by the Handala Hack Team, which has links to Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence.

The group wrote: ‘Kash Patel, the current head of the FBI, who once saw his name displayed with pride on the agency’s headquarters, will now find his name among the list of successfully hacked victims.

‘The so-called ‘impenetrable’ systems of the FBI were brought to their knees within hours by our team.’

Many of the hacked records shared were from more than a decade ago.

Leaked photos included one of Mr Patel smoking a cigar in his mouth and another of the FBI boss standing next to a vintage sports car.

Handala, which presents as a pro-Palestinian hacking group, is thought to be one of several fronts used by the Iranian regime to conduct cyber attacks.

Earlier this month the same group claimed to have hacked into Stryker, a Michigan-based medical services provider and had deleted a large number of its files.

More than 300 emails send and received by Mr Patel from a Gmail account were shared, dating from 2010 to 2019.

It comes amid a rise in cyber-related operations from Iran-backed organisations.

On Thursday Handala claimed to have targeted employees working in the Middle East for defence firm Lockheed Martin.

The company said it was aware of the reports and had put systems in place ‘to mitigate cyber threats to our business’.

The FBI confirmed that the details taken were ‘historical in nature’ and that no governmental information had been disclosed.

It said in a statement: ‘The FBI is aware of malicious actors targeting Director Patel‘s personal email information, and we have taken all necessary steps to mitigate potential risks associated with this activity.

‘The information in question is historical in nature and involves no government information.’

Gil Messing, chief of staff at Israeli cybersecurity company Check Point, said the leaking of Mr Patel’s personal details was designed to make US officials feel ‘vulnerable’.

Iranian groups were ‘firing whatever they have’, he said.

Johnson accuses Democrats of taking government hostage over ‘crazy’ immigration agenda

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

House Speaker Mike Johnson chastised congressional Democrats Friday, saying Republicans will not be part of any effort to reopen America’s borders and stop the deportation of criminal illegal immigrants.

Johnson held a two-hour conference call with House Republicans Friday, saying they were all “united” in the party’s position to fully fund the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to end the partial government shutdown that has injected chaos into air travel.

“They have taken hostage the funding processes of government so that they can impose their radical agenda on the American people,” Johnson told reporters of Senate Democrats.

“The Senate Democrats have foisted upon this appropriations process their radical, crazy agenda,” he added. “We call it crazy because that’s what it is. They want to reopen the borders, and they want to stop the deportation of dangerous criminal illegal aliens. We have to do these basic functions of government.”

On Friday, the Senate advanced a bill to fund much of DHS, except for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and U.S. Border Patrol.

“The only thing standing between ending this chaos or not are House Republicans,” Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries said. “There’s a bipartisan bill that emerged from the Senate with uniform support, and it should be brought to the floor immediately so we can pay TSA agents, so we can end the chaos at airports across the country and stop inconveniencing millions of Americans.”

Democrats have refused to fully fund DHS unless Republicans agree to new restrictions on federal immigration authorities.

“This gambit that was done last night is a joke,” Johnson said of the bill. “It is unconscionable to me that the Democrats would force some sort of negotiation at three o’clock in the morning and try to hoist this upon the American people and then get on their jets and go home for their holiday and pretend and think that we’re going to go along with that.”

Lawmakers have come under increased pressure to strike a deal to pay Transportation Security Administration (TSA) agents after many have resigned and lines at airports across the country have swelled daily because of staffing issues.

On Thursday, President Donald Trump signed an executive order to pay TSA agents despite Congress having not appropriated the funds for it.

Johnson said Republicans will put forward a continuing resolution for all agencies under DHS to keep operating at their current funding levels.

“The reason that we can’t accept this ridiculousness is because we’re not going to risk not funding the agencies that keep the American people safe,” he said.

The shutdown began in February, weeks after federal agents shot and killed two people in separate incidents during immigration raids in Minnesota. Democrats have demanded changes to ICE and DHS and have refused to fund the agencies.
