When Tiger Woods crashed his car last Friday, arguably his most prized possession was with him in the trunk: his golf clubs.

Woods’ 2025 Range Rover turned onto its driver’s side in the crash and nearly two hours later, the 15-time major champion was arrested for driving under the influence.

Authorities arrived on the scene and talked with Woods’ manager, Rob McNamara, who said the clubs were extremely important.

“I understand,” a deputy said, as bodycam footage revealed. “Worth more than my house.”

“The putter is worth more than all of our houses,” McNamara replied.

Woods later said that the “sticks” were the only thing he needed, especially the putter, which he “won 14 majors” with. Woods used another putter for the 1997 Masters, his first major victory, which he won by 12 strokes.

The deputy on camera told a tow employee that there was “expensive s—” in the trunk from a “high-profile person” that needed to be extracted from the vehicle. However, as a result of the crash, the trunk was unable to be opened. So, a member of a local fire department shattered the back windshield, and authorities slipped the clubs through the windshield and gave them to McNamara, keeping them safe and sound.

The clubs were in a Monster Energy branded bag, and his driver was covered with Woods’ notorious tiger cover head.

TIGER WOODS UTTERS SARCASTIC 3-WORD REMARK AFTER GETTING PLACED IN BACK OF COP CAR DURING DUI ARREST

The deputy found one of Woods’ Sun Day Red shirts, which he joked was more than one of his paychecks.

Woods was placed in the vehicle after failing a field sobriety test, taken after he showed “signs of impairment” and was “lethargic.” He blew “triple-zeroes” in a breathalyzer, but after he failed to submit a urine test, he was hit with another charge. Officers found two pills that were later identified as hydrocodone, a prescription opioid used for pain relief.

Woods previously told law enforcement prior to the field sobriety tests that he underwent seven back surgeries and “over 20 operations on his leg.” He told law enforcement that “I take a few” prescription medications. In 2021, he got into a wreck that resulted in serious leg injuries that kept him off the golf course for the entire year.

Woods told officers he was “hoping to” play in the Masters, but in a statement earlier this week, Woods said he would pause his quest to get back on the golf course to “seek treatment.”

“I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in today. I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health. “I’m committed to taking the time needed to return in a healthier, stronger, and more focused place, both personally and professionally. I appreciate your understanding and support, and ask for privacy for my family, loved ones and myself at this time.”

As Tiger Woods steps away from golf and won’t be playing in the Masters next week, another golf legend won’t be on the grounds at Augusta National Golf Club.

Three-time Masters champion Phil Mickelson released a statement Thursday saying he won’t be playing in this year’s tournament.

“Unfortunately, I will not play in the Masters Tournament next week and will be out for an extended period of time as my family continues to navigate a personal health matter,” Mickelson’s statement on social media said.

Augusta National Chairman Fred Ridley also released a statement after Mickelson’s decision.

The 55-year-old Mickelson missed four LIV Golf events earlier this year, and he noted he was dealing with a “family health matter.”

He was on the course in South Africa two weeks ago, leading his HyFlyers GC squad for the event. Mickelson finished tied for 48 in the event.

Mickelson’s Masters announcement comes after Woods stepped away from golf “to seek treatment” following a DUI arrest after a rollover crash Friday in Jupiter Island, Florida.

Woods, a 15-time major winner and five-time Masters champion, and Mickelson sat atop the golf world, beginning in the late 1990s and through the 2010s. While Woods usually sat atop the world golf rankings, Mickelson was his toughest competitor, winning six majors over his storied career.

Bodycam footage of Tiger Woods’ DUI arrest in Jupiter Island, Florida, last Friday showed the 15-time major winner saying he was “hoping to” play in this year’s Masters.

As Woods was sitting in a police vehicle, an officer was talking golf with him, mentioning a putter Woods said he won “14 majors” with.

Then, the officer asked Woods if he planned on playing in the Masters, and he responded, “Hoping to.”

Someone associated with Woods walked up to the group talking and added, “Depends on y’all.”

Woods won’t be playing at Augusta National Golf Club next week for the first major of the season, which Augusta National Chairman Fred Ridley confirmed earlier this week after the rollover crash and arrest of the five-time green jacket winner.

“Augusta National Golf Club and the Masters Tournament fully support Tiger Woods as he focuses on his well-being,” Ridley said in a statement. “Although Tiger will not be joining us in person next week, his presence will be felt here in Augusta.”

There was a chance Woods was trying to play in the Masters, and he clearly had that mindset before his crash.

Woods put out a statement, announcing he is stepping away from golf to “seek treatment” after his DUI arrest, which resulted in charges of driving under the influence with property damage and refusal to submit to a blood alcohol level (BAL) test after law enforcement said his vehicle collided with another while he drove impaired.

Woods released the statement after entering a plea of not guilty, waiving his right to an arraignment and demanding a trial with a jury Tuesday.

“I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in today,” Woods said in a statement posted on social media.

Woods was found with prescription opioids in his pocket, which the bodycam footage showed. Deputies with the Martin County Sheriff’s Office reported observing several signs of impairment after the crash. They noted Woods was “sweating profusely,” his movements appeared “lethargic and slow” and his eyes were “bloodshot and glassy” and “extremely dilated” after he removed his sunglasses.

Deputies conducted field sobriety tests with Woods as he sat on the bumper of a car, and one deputy had her finger in the air as Woods, while hiccupping, tried to follow with his eyes.

This arrest marked Woods’ second DUI arrest within the last decade. In 2017, he was taken into custody, also in Jupiter Island, after taking prescription drugs and falling asleep behind the wheel of a running car at 3 a.m.

Woods was also involved in a 2021 rollover crash that resulted in serious leg injuries and emergency surgeries, which is what he was alluding to during the field sobriety tests.

Woods also signed up for the U.S. Senior Open, according to The Golf League teammate Kevin Kisner, which is scheduled for early July.

Scottie Scheffler has proven he’s human over the last couple of weeks, but perhaps there may be a reason for it.

With a couple of tune-ups in Scheffler’s home state of Texas before heading to Augusta National in April, one of those is no longer on his schedule.

The PGA Tour announced Wednesday that Scheffler withdrew from the Texas Children’s Houston Open and was replaced by Matt Kuchar.

The reason was not given, but reading between the lines, Scheffler may be dealing with something — or perhaps he may just need a break before going for his third green jacket.

Scheffler finished T-22 at The Players earlier this month after finishing T-24 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. He began the 2026 season with a victory at The American Express and followed up with typical results of T-3 at the Waste Management Phoenix Open and T-4 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. He then finished T-12 at the Genesis Invitational.

TIGER WOODS STEPPING BACK INTO COMPETITIVE GOLF AS MASTERS LOOM

For context, before this recent slump, Scheffler finished inside the top 10 in each of his previous 19 tournaments, and the last time he finished outside the top 20 in back-to-back events was in July and August 2023.

At the very least, there is cause for concern for Scheffler to miss a tournament he’s had plenty of success with — he’s finished T-2 in three of the last four Children’s Opens.

Scheffler won the Masters for the first time in 2022, officially putting himself on the map. Two years later, he took the green jacket back from Jon Rahm, proving himself as the game’s best after being named the PGA Tour Player of the Year in each of the two years prior.

Scheffler’s last chance for a Masters warm-up will be next week at the Valero Texas Open.

With O’Sullivan and Wu locked at 5-5 in the race to six frames, ‘The Rocket’ produced a wonderful 89 counter-clearance from 43-0 down to seal a dramatic 6-5 victory.

The seven-time world champion is through to a 66th ranking final and now has a chance to win a record-extending 42nd ranking title in Sunday’s final against Judd Trump or Thepchaiya Un-Nooh.

On Friday, O’Sullivan made the highest break in professional snooker by hitting a 153 at the tournament.

The 50-year-old achieved the feat after leaving quarter-final opponent Ryan Day in a snooker at the start of the opening frame and the Welshman’s failed attempt to get out of it handed O’Sullivan a free ball.

That allowed the seven-time world champion to commence his break with the green, followed by his opening black to put him on eight points before even beginning on the reds.

O’Sullivan then reeled off the 15 reds, accompanied by 13 further blacks and two pinks before clearing up the colours to land a record-breaking 153, paving the way for a dominant 5-0 victory.

His rapid start paved the way for a dominant 5-0 victory as O’Sullivan stormed into the semi-finals in China.

O’Sullivan is seeking to win his first ranking event on the world tour since beating Judd Trump 10-7 in the World Grand Prix final in January 2024.

The former world No 1 had reached the quarter-finals with wins over Matthew Selt and Shaun Murphy.

Jamie Burnett previously held the World Snooker Tour record with his 148 break in UK Championship qualifying back in 2004.

After a record-equalling seven world titles, Ronnie O’Sullivan will be making his debut on the senior world stage in May at the 2026 World Seniors Snooker Championship.

However, the 50-year-old is still expected to play in the main World Championship, which finishes just two days before the seniors starts, with both events taking place at the Crucible.

He joins an impressive seniors line-up that includes 2015 world champion Stuart Bingham, 12-time women’s world champion Reanne Evans and former Masters and UK champion Matthew Stevens.

Chairman Jason Francis branded O’Sullivan the “most commercially valuable player the sport has ever seen” and that he expects The Rocket’s participation to drive ticket sales even higher.

The seniors tournament will take place May 6-10, being prefaced by World Championship from April 18-May 4.

O’Sullivan relocated to Dubai last year but will spend April and May in Sheffield as he also attempts to win an eighth world title when he appears in his 34th consecutive World Snooker Championship.

Changes to the seniors tournaments rules have meant players ranked in the world top 64 are eligible to take part with several having taken the opportunity.

With four title wins, the most successful player in the seniors is Jimmy White, with the 10-time ranking event winner also slated to take part.

This comes 25 years after O’Sullivan won his first World Snooker Championship which he won in his 10th year of being a professional at the age of 25, as he seeks to add yet another record to his CV.
