Giants valued at $10.8B as Tisch family seeks equity transfer with Epstein investigation looming: report

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

As New York Giants co-owner Steve Tisch and his siblings look to transfer an equity stake to a children’s trust, the overall value of the franchise has been revealed.

An NFL memo obtained by ESPN earlier this month found the Tisch family — Steve, Jonathan and Laurie — are seeking a transfer of their collective equity stake in the franchise to their children. The proposed stake was 23.1% of the team.

The proposed transfer of equity values the team at $10.8 billion, according to Sports Business Journal, which would put a 23.1% stake at roughly $2.5 billion.

For comparison, Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross sold 1% of his team to billionaire entrepreneur Lin Bin with the valuation at a record $12.5 billion.

Julia Koch, a board member with Koch Industries, also bought a 10% stake in the Giants with a valuation at $10.3 billion in October 2025.

It’s also worth noting that the NFL memo stated, “Following the transactions, the Sellers will no longer own any interest in the Club.”

It is unknown if the transfer requests have anything to do with Steve Tisch’s name appearing in the Epstein files released by the U.S. Justice Department in January. His name appeared more than 400 times in the files, and while he said at the time he knew of Epstein, he denied visiting Epstein’s infamous island.

“We had a brief association where we exchanged emails about adult women, and in addition, we discussed movies, philanthropy and investments,” Steve Tisch said in a statement on Jan. 31. “I did not take him up on any of his invitations and never went to his island. As we all know now, he was a terrible person and someone I deeply regret associating with.”

The U.S. Justice Department released more than 3 million documents related to the Epstein investigation, which included email exchanges from April 2013 and June 2013 between Tisch and Epstein. Some of those exchanges appear to show conversations about women.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said in February the league would look into Steve Tisch’s association with Epstein.

“Absolutely we will look at all the facts,” Goodell said at a news conference in San Jose, California, during Super Bowl week. “We’ll look at the context of those and try to understand that. We’ll look at how that falls under the (league personal conduct) policy. I think we’ll take one step at a time. Let’s get the facts first.”

Toronto Blue Jays extend general manager Ross Atkins, manager John Schneider | Globalnews.ca

The Toronto Blue Jays locked in their leadership group Monday with extensions for Ross Atkins and John Schneider.

Toronto Blue Jays extend general manager Ross Atkins, manager John Schneider | Globalnews.ca

Atkins’ five-year deal runs through 2031, while Schneider’s covers 2028.

The moves follow Toronto’s 94-win season, American League East title and a seven-game World Series loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers last year.

Schneider, 46, has a 303-257 record since taking over as manager in July 2022 and was runner-up for American League manager of the year last season.

He is entering his fourth full season as skipper after the Blue Jays picked up his 2026 option last season.

“Schneids has been, and will continue to be, an exceptional leader and manager in professional baseball because of his unwavering commitment to players,” said Atkins.

Schneider is the 14th manager in franchise history and succeeded Charlie Montoyo in July 2022, helping guide Toronto to a wild-card berth that season.

The Blue Jays were swept in the wild-card round in 2022 by Seattle and again in 2023 by Minnesota before slipping to a 74-win season in 2024.

Toronto rebounded in 2025, securing the division title on the final day of the regular season and advancing to the World Series for the first time since 1993.

Schneider, a native of Princeton, N.J., has spent more than two decades with the organization after being drafted by Toronto in 2002 and later working his way through the minor-league system.

“I am ecstatic to continue leading the Blue Jays as we work to bring our incredible fans a championship team,” said Schneider. “It’s been a privilege to be part of this organization for nearly 25 years, and the work the Blue Jays continue to do excites me every day.”

Atkins, 52, was hired in December 2015 and is the second-longest tenured general manager in franchise history.

The Blue Jays reached the post-season five times under his leadership, but won playoff games only in 2016 before last year’s run.

Toronto struggled through a rebuild that bottomed out in 2018 and 2019 before returning to contention during the pandemic-shortened 2020 season.

“Ross has done an outstanding job in building a deep foundation with an accomplished Baseball Operations team, best-in-class resources, and a collaborative culture,” said Mark Shapiro, Toronto’s president and CEO. “I am a strong supporter of stability and continuity, and Ross continues to make us better.”

Shapiro signed a five-year contract extension in December 2025, keeping him with the club through the 2030 season.

Atkins helped secure franchise cornerstone Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to a 14-year, US$500-million extension in April 2025, one of the richest deals in team history.

The Blue Jays added pitchers Dylan Cease and Cody Ponce, along with third baseman Kazuma Okamoto, in a series of high-profile moves this off-season.

The club did lose star shortstop Bo Bichette in free agency in January after he signed a three-year, $126-million contract with the New York Mets.

The Blue Jays open their regular season Friday against the Athletics at Rogers Centre.

Luis Gil left in limbo after Yankees reveal early rotation plans: ‘Working through’ it

TAMPA — Luis Gil’s dominant final start of the spring was still not enough to lock up a spot in the Yankees four-man rotation to begin the season.

Now the question is whether he will open the year in the bullpen or the minors until the Yankees need a fifth starter in early April.

With four off-days in the first 13 days of the season, the Yankees are going with a four-man rotation to begin the year so their starters are not going too long between starts over the first two weeks.

Max Fried will start the opener against the Giants on Wednesday, followed, after a day off, by Cam Schlittler, Will Warren and Ryan Weathers.

That leaves Gil as the odd man out following a camp in which his stuff was lacking before turning it on Friday night in a throwback performance against the Orioles.

“We’re working through that — do we want him to start a couple [in the minors] and then pop him in the rotation?” Aaron Boone said Sunday after a 4-0 win over the Phillies at Steinbrenner Field. “Is there an avenue to do it a different way? That’s what we’re working through still.”

Gil will stay back in Tampa to throw live batting practice Wednesday to continue his buildup, making it more likely that the Yankees carry an extra reliever on their Opening Day roster.

The arms still vying for spots — with three up for grabs if Gil is optioned, two if he is not — are Rule 5 pick Cade Winquest, lefty Brent Headrick, Jake Bird and Osvaldo Bido.

Headrick and Bird have minor league options while Bido does not and the Yankees must carry Winquest on their roster or offer him back to the Cardinals.

The Yankees could use Gil out of the bullpen in a piggyback role to keep him built up, but they already have length options in Ryan Yarbrough and Paul Blackburn.

If Gil throws live batting practice Wednesday, he would likely be unavailable for all of the opening series against the Giants.

Otherwise, they do not need a fifth starter until April 11 and Gil would be eligible to be called up as early as April 9 if he is optioned.

“Obviously, he’d like to be a starter with us, so frustrating [for him],” pitching coach Matt Blake said. “But at the same time, he understands the position we’re in with the way the schedule lines up for the first two weeks in particular. Now it’s just a matter of making sure we do right by him and keep him in rhythm and find the best balance for the bullpen and our starting group.

“It’s not necessarily a specific decision around Luis.”

Flint Firebirds hold off the London Knights to close regular season schedule for both teams – London | Globalnews.ca

The London Knights will be rooting for the Windsor Spitfires on Sunday, the final day of the OHL’s regular season, after falling just short of a four-goal comeback in Flint at the Dort Financial Center on Saturday.

Toronto Blue Jays extend general manager Ross Atkins, manager John Schneider | Globalnews.ca

The Knights will need the Spitfires to beat the Soo Greyhounds  in either regulation time, overtime or a shootout. That would secure home ice advantage for London against Sault Ste. Marie in the first round of the post-season.

In Saturday’s game, London fell behind the Flint Firebirds 4-0, then fought back to make it 4-3 and 5-4 only to have Flint hang on in the end.

The Firebirds came out flying, connecting three times in the opening period on even-strength goals by Ihnat Pazii and Kevin He and a power play goal from Jimmy Lombardi. Flint took that 3-0 lead to the dressing room after 20 minutes.

Story continues below advertisement

The Firebirds added to their lead at 7:21 of the second period after surviving a Knights power play that had created chances for London. Lombardi skated down the ice and found Nathan Aspinall in front as the pair connected for a second time, putting Flint up 4-0.

At that point. Aleksei Medvedev entered the game in goal for the London Knights.

The Knights continued to push offensively and were rewarded on another man advantage when Henry Brzustewicz wristed in his 19th goal of the year at the 13:59 mark of the second period. With no goals in the remaining six minutes, the score stood at 4-1 heading into the third period.

Will Nicholl scored his second goal in as many games to cut the deficit to two goals when he fired home a Linus Funck rebound at 5:17.

Knights forward Braidy Wassilyn got London to within one when he roofed a backhand over Mason Vaccari with 10:02 remaining at 4-3.

The Firebirds stretched their lead to a pair once again when Kevin He got behind the London defence. He scored and gave Flint a 5-3 advantage with 5:36 to go in the game.

The Knights made it interesting once again as Andoni Fimis sent a puck through a maze of players and into the Firebirds net with 3:21 left on the clock but that’s as close as London would get.

London forward Jesse Nurmi left the game in the first period and did not return.

The Firebirds outshot the Knights 24-21.

Knights hit 40 wins again

There are 68 games in every OHL regular season. To get to 40 wins, you have to win nearly 60 per cent of the time.

The OHL is also a very cyclical league. A player will usually play three or four years. Consistency is a challenge, yet consistency has been a trademark of the Knights since Mark and Dale Hunter took ownership in 2000.

Here are the number of 40-win seasons by each OHL team and franchise since 2000:

17: London Knights

13: Barrie Colts

11: Kitchener Rangers

8: Ottawa 67’s, Windsor Spitfires

7: Erie Otters, Flint/Plymouth, Soo Greyhounds, Oshawa Gereals

6: Brantford/Hamilton/Belleville

5: Saginaw/North Bay, Guelph Storm, Niagara/Mississauga IceDogs, North Bay/Brampton

4: Sarnia Sting

3: Owen Sound Attack

2: Mississauga/St. Mike’s, Peterborough Petes

Up next

The London Knights will face the Soo Greyhounds in the first round of the OHL playoffs.

Where the series will begin is still to be decided.

The Greyhounds must beat the Windsor Spitfires in their final regular season game on March 22 in Sault Ste. Marie to clinch home ice against London.

If the Greyhounds lose in regulation or in overtime or a shootout, then the Knights will get home ice advantage in their best-of-7 series.

Here are the two scenarios:

Canada’s Einarson a step closer to curling gold | Globalnews.ca

CALGARY – Canada’s Kerri Einarson will play for gold at the women’s world curling championship.

Toronto Blue Jays extend general manager Ross Atkins, manager John Schneider | Globalnews.ca

Einarson’s team out of Manitoba’s Gimli Curling Club defeated Japan 11-3 in Saturday’s semifinal. Japan conceded after eight ends.

Canada faces Switzerland’s Xenia Schwaller for gold Sunday.

After losing semifinals in two previous appearances and taking the bronze medal, Einarson and company took a step closer to the coveted gold.

“It’s a dream come true,” the skip said. “It’s something that we’ve worked extremely hard for over the years.

“We’ve had some disappointing games previous years, and now to finally get ourselves into that gold-medal game is a pretty special feeling.”

Einarson, vice Val Sweeting, second Shannon Birchard and Karlee Burgess seek their first world title.

“It’s just phenomenal for this team,” Birchard said. “We’ve had so many cracks at the world championship and just haven’t been able to get past the semifinal.

“I hope we can just put it all out there tomorrow and bring home a gold for Canada.”

Einarson, Sweeting, Birchard and lead Briane Harris were bronze medallists in 2023 and 2022.

Burgess, who posted 100 per cent shooting accuracy in the semifinal, joined the team just over a year ago.

Birchard was an alternate on the Jennifer Jones team that won the world championship in 2018 in North Bay, Ont.

Schwaller defeated Tirinzoni in the Swiss women’s final less than a week after Tirinzoni claimed Olympic silver in the Milan Cortina Games.

“They’re a great young team,” Einarson said. “They have to be fearless and they are because they have Tirinzoni in their country. If they want to get out of the country, they have to play really well and they have been playing well this week.”

Schwaller’s team dispatched Sweden’s Isabelle Wraana 8-5 in the other semifinal to get to within a win of gold in the team’s first world championship.

“I’m speechless,” said Schwaller. “Especially after our whole performance the whole week, a loss would have been very tough in that game. We deserve to be in the final.”

The Swiss dropped their first game in Calgary to Japan before rattling off 11 straight wins to top the 13-country standings ahead of Canada at 10-2.

“Back home, they didn’t really think we would have a chance here, and I’m really happy to prove them wrong,” Schwaller stated.

“We got a lot of comments. I had to mute my Instagram at the beginning of the week. It was kind of crazy after our first loss.”

Calgary’s 3,000-seat WinSport Event Centre was full for the semifinals. Canada played on an end sheet a couple metres from fans seated in the first row.

The hosts won the pre-game draw to the button to start the semifinal with hammer. Canada made the most of it by scoring three in the first end.

Japan had rotated Chinami Yoshida and Tori Koana at third in Calgary. Koana shot 75 per cent in Japan’s 6-5 loss to Canada to cap pool play Friday night.

Chinami was back in Saturday for a 7-5 playoff win over Turkey and for the rematch with Canada.

But the Canadians dictated the semifinal early with superior draw weight, which forced the Japanese into runback attempts to clear Canadian stones from the rings.

Canada led 7-2 after five ends with 85 per cent shot accuracy to Japan’s 60.

“In our pre-practice, the ice was very fast,” said skip Satsuki Fujisawa. “Before the game, we had a little time, so then the ice changed and we didn’t, I didn’t, realize that the first end.”

Japan flubbed draws and runbacks in the fourth end, which left Fujisawa attempting a low percentage angle raise to score. Japan gave up a steal of two to trail 7-1.

Story continues below advertisement

The only end Japan had Canada on the run was in the sixth when Fujisawa stole a point. But the hosts slammed the door on a comeback with another three points in the seventh.

Japan tried to shake hands after the seventh, but were ordered back onto the ice by the umpire to play another end.

World Curling requires teams to play a minimum of eight ends in playoffs, but six in pool play.

Senators back in the hunt with confidence growing | Globalnews.ca

OTTAWA – The only thing the Ottawa Senators are worried about right now is themselves.

Toronto Blue Jays extend general manager Ross Atkins, manager John Schneider | Globalnews.ca

With 13 games remaining in their regular season, the Senators are desperately fighting to secure a playoff spot. And while they could use a little help from other teams to improve their odds, they’re making sure to hold themselves accountable above all.

Following a 5-2 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday, the Senators (36-24-9) sit three points back of the Detroit Red Wings for the final wild-card berth in the Eastern Conference.

The Leafs, who’s playoff hopes were dashed a while back, struggled to hold their own against their provincial rivals.

“Obviously, they stuck to their game and what they did well,” said Toronto’s John Tavares. “They executed and made it hard on us and then we still got back in the game, but we just couldn’t seem to make the push we needed.”

Ottawa has been playing some of its best hockey of late going 7-2-1 through its last 10, but more importantly are getting contributions throughout the lineup.

Playing without Jake Sanderson, who suffered an upper-body injury March 7, and Nick Jensen, who suffered a torn meniscus March 11, the Senators depth at defence has been tested.

Nicolas Matinpalo and Dennis Gilbert have proven to be a reliable third pairing. Gilbert’s future could be questionable. He left the game late in the third after taking a hard hit from Toronto’s Oliver Ekman-Larsson.

The Senators are benefiting from the pairing of Jordan Spence and Tyler Kleven. Spence has been able to show some offensive capabilities and Kleven is a steady presence.

“It’s nice to see,” said Senators coach Travis Green. “They’re getting more minutes now, obviously, with our injuries, and you hope you have confidence in everyone on your team, that when that happens they step up and they have. They haven’t missed a beat. They’re playing as good as they were, or even better, with less minutes.”

Story continues below advertisement

While much attention has been paid to Ottawa’s back end there’s no denying the contributions from its forwards.

“Our depth has been awesome,” said Tim Stutzle. “It’s been a lot of fun right now to come to the rink everyday and just working together as a group and trying to get better everyday.”

The Senators third line of Michael Amadio, Shane Pinto and Nick Cousins is a threat at both ends of the ice.

Amadio has already set a career high in points (12G, 18A) and is well appreciated by his teammates.

Amadio was traded to Ottawa in March 2021 and he played five games. He wasn’t re-signed by the organization and Tim Stutzle was quick to point out how he had enjoyed playing with Amadio during his first stint and was thrilled when he returned.

“He’s really underrated in my opinion,” Stutzle said. “He has one of the best sticks in the league, out killing penalties and plays in every situation. And just the space he creates for his linemates. It’s been awesome to see, and I think that line has been going really well.”

Ottawa’s fourth line has also found some chemistry. Lars Eller is playing between Warren Foegele, acquired at the trade deadline, and Fabian Zetterlund.

Foegele, who has goals in his last two games, has been a solid addition.

“We have a lot of confidence in the way we play and the players that we have in this locker room,” said Claude Giroux. “So, when you have that confidence, you know you don’t have to be the hero, you don’t have to do the extra play, you just gotta trust your game is going to make you successful.”

The Senators visit the Red Wings on Tuesday.

Kucherov continues to impress as scoring leader | Globalnews.ca

EDMONTON – Nikita Kucherov has pushed his game into overdrive.

Toronto Blue Jays extend general manager Ross Atkins, manager John Schneider | Globalnews.ca

The star Russian forward had two goals and two assists to move two points ahead of Connor McDavid for the NHL scoring lead with 118 points as the Tampa Bay Lightning won their third game in a row, defeating the Edmonton Oilers 5-2 on Saturday.

“I think it’s a whole team effort,” said Kucherov, who scored his 40th goal of the season and had his first career short-handed goal in the game. “The team’s been playing well, and we follow the game plan and we execute plays and that is paying off.”

Kucherov has been nothing short of stellar of late with 12 points in his last three games and 22 points in his last eight contests. In 29 games in the 2026 calendar year, he has logged 67 points, 20 more than McDavid. Kucherov now has 37 points in 20 games against Edmonton.

“That kid’s on quite a run,” said Lightning head coach Jon Cooper. “I don’t know many players in this league who have four points in a game period, let alone the amount of times he gets them. It’s pretty magnificent. It was pretty cool that he got his first shorty tonight, that was a lot of fun on the bench.

“I’m blessed to be able to see him every night. I love when we come out West and true hockey fans get to see him. They’re blessed to see Connor McDavid every night and Leon Draisaitl and you get to throw Kuch in the mix with the greats that play this game. It’s fun for everyone.”

Kucherov is also the first player to record 75 points over a 33-game span since Mario Lemieux did it in 1995-1996.

“He’s been doing it all year, I think he has more four-point games than he does zero or one-point games,” said linemate Brandon Hagel, who picked up a pair of assists. “It’s like clockwork for him at this point.”

Kucherov is seeking his third straight Art Ross trophy for most points and has also led the league in scoring in 2019, the year he won the Hart Trophy as league MVP. McDavid, by comparison, has won five scoring titles and three Harts.

“There’s no words, simple as that, he does it every night,” said Tampa defenceman J.J. Moser. “He doesn’t get talked about how impressive it is for him to perform like this night after night. There are simply no words for that.”

Anthony Cirelli had a pair of goals and Jake Guentzel also scored for the Lightning (43-21-4) who have won four of their last five.

McDavid and Josh Samanski replied for the Oilers (34-28-9) who have lost two straight and missed out on a glorious opportunity to entrench themselves in the playoff race with most of their key rivals also losing earlier in the day.

“We’re fortunate to play in this division,” McDavid said. “A lot of teams are fortunate to play in this division. It’s a bit of a pillow fight right now, but we’re thankful not to have lost any ground. That being said, we have to find a way to win some games here on the road. We have to make some ground.”

Edmonton is three points back of Pacific-leading Anaheim, one up on third-place Vegas and just five points clear of fourth-place Los Angeles.

LeBron James breaks NBA record for most games played as Kevin Durant passes Michael Jordan on points list

LeBron James played a record 1,612th regular-season game in the NBA against the Orlando Magic on Saturday

LeBron James set a new NBA record by playing his 1,612th regular-season game in the Los Angeles Lakers’ 105-104 comeback win over the Orlando Magic on Saturday night.

Luka Doncic scored 33 points in the Lakers’ ninth-straight win, but was called for his 16th technical foul – an automatic one-game suspension by the league if it’s not rescinded.

LeBron had 12 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals on his record-breaking night, the 41-year-old passing the mark Robert Parish held for nearly 30 years.

Paolo Banchero, who led seven Magic players in double figures with 16 points, blocked a shot by James out of bounds with 4.7 seconds left. But, after a replay review, it was determined that the ball had not deflected off LeBron’s foot out of bounds – and so Los Angeles maintained possession.

That set up a Marcus Smart pass to Luke Kennard to make the winning three-pointer with 0.6 seconds left to maintain the Lakers’ win streak.

Lakers head coach JJ Redick said after the game of LeBron’s latest NBA record, into his 23rd season in the league: “He’s had an awesome season. He’s had an awesome career.

“There’s just a deep-seated love for the game of the basketball. And to do it as long as he has, you not only need to have the love, but you need to the love for the commitment to prepare your body and to prepare mind and to get your rest.

“He loves the process, he really does. He loves his process, he loves his routine, he loves the feeling of being diligent.”

The Rockets had been up by two when Durant made consecutive three-pointers to make it 117-109, moving past Jordan with the second of them as he briefly lifted his arms in triumph after draining the shot.

Ben Adebayo had 32 points and tied a career high with 21 rebounds for the Heat, who edged into a 122-121 lead with 5.4 seconds to go but would ultimately lose a fourth straight.

Adebayo’s big rebounding night came after he had the second-highest scoring game in NBA history when he scored 83 points in a win over the Washington Wizards on March 10.

Moser sprung him on a short-handed breakaway which he converted for his 39th of the season and his first career short-handed marker.

WEIRD ONE

Edmonton got a bizarre goal on a play where they didn’t even shoot the puck with 12:44 to play in the third period.
