Pete Alonso’s wife recaps first Orioles opener after bolting from Mets

It was a weekend filled with milestones for the Orioles’ new $155 million first baseman, Pete Alonso.

Taking to Instagram on Monday, wife Haley Alonso recapped the couple’s first MLB opening weekend in Baltimore after seven seasons with the Mets, and their first as a family of three following the birth of their son in October.

Captioning the post, “Opening weekend in birdland,” Haley is seen holding the couple’s baby boy alongside Alonso, 31, at Camden Yards, where the Orioles took two games in their three-game series against the Twins to open the year.

Alonso, who agreed to a five-year pact with the Orioles last December, tallied three hits and one RBI across 11 at-bats in the three games.

The Orioles will host the Rangers from Monday through Wednesday before traveling to Pittsburgh next weekend.

Alonso’s former Mets team dominated Paul Skenes and the Pirates in their season opener at Citi Field last Thursday, 11-7, and took Saturday’s game, 4-2.

The Mets lost their first game of the season Sunday in extra innings, 4-3.

Despite Alonso’s absence, Mets fans are still cheering on the five-time MLB All-Star from afar.

“So happy for your beautiful family! We will miss you at Citifield…the O’s are lucky to have you!” one fan commented on Haley’s Instagram.

“Miss you guys,” another wrote alongside orange and blue heart emojis. “We’re still rooting for you!!”

Alonso made his MLB debut for the Mets in 2019 after being drafted by the club in 2016.

He collected the Silver Slugger Award last season.

Upon moving on from the Mets, Alonso posted a heartfelt tribute to the fans.

“Thank you for the passion. Thank you for the love. Even the tough love that comes with playing for New York. When it came time for first pitch, thank you for being electric through it all. Thank you for getting rowdy every time I stepped up to the plate and made the building shake when the ball found a seat over the wall. Your energy fueled me more than you’ll ever know,” he wrote on Instagram in December.

Haley, who married Alonso in 2021, reflected on their “special” 2025 in a separate Instagram post, which highlighted the Orioles signing and the birth of their son.

“What a year and what a life we’ve got,” Alonso wrote. “Love you bunches.”

Jaxson Dart gives intimate look at offseason with girlfriend before second Giants season

Jaxson Dart’s first NFL offseason was like a movie.

The Giants quarterback shared some of the behind-the-scenes of his life off the field with his model girlfriend, Marissa Ayers, in an Instagram carousel post Thursday.

Dart and Ayers — an influencer and ring girl for Jake Paul and Nakisa Bidarian’s boxing company, Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) — showed some PDA in a snapshot of the pair on a dinner date.

The 22-year-old signal-caller included photos of him training and modeling for Alo, an athletic apparel retailer he joined in November.

Dart and former Giants receiver Odell Beckham Jr., who’s looking to make a comeback in 2026, posed together in another snap.

Dart and Ayers have been inseparable in the public eye since she confirmed the relationship in an Instagram carousel post in January — following months of dating rumors surrounding the pair.

The couple made their first red carpet appearance together at the NFL Honors ceremony in February.

Dart was nominated for the 2025 AP NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award, which went to Panthers wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan.

Ayers also shared a TikTok video of their first date, which took place in October when they went to dinner and took in “The Great Gatsby” on Broadway in New York City.

In a recent interview with People, Dart gushed over Ayers while explaining that their relationship happened “so fast.”

“It’s really cool when you have two people who are independent what they do, but at the same time… are each other’s biggest cheerleaders,” Dart said. “She’s amazing and she’s going to do amazing things, so I can’t wait to support her.”

Dart is gearing up for his sophomore season after the Giants missed the playoffs for the third consecutive year with a 4-13 record.

He tallied 24 total touchdowns in 13 games in his rookie campaign.

Breaking down best March Madness 2026 games today: Thursday’s top contests

A look at the key March Madness 2026 games to watch Thursday:

(9) TCU vs. (8) Ohio State

12:15 p.m., CBS

This is when it all begins, when the Big Dance officially tips off with a matchup more suited for the College Football Playoff. The Horned Frogs needed to rip off eight Big 12 wins in nine games to have a chance at cracking the field. Bruce Thornton, the Buckeyes’ all-time leading scorer, is someone who could take over. The likely reward for whoever wins? No. 1 seed Duke.

(11) South Florida vs. (6) Louisville

1:30 p.m., TNT

Amid the coaching carousel chatter, Bryan Hodgson has the Bulls positioned as a potential Cinderella. The Cardinals won’t have star freshman Mikel Brown Jr. either, and will need to figure out how to replace his 18.2 points per game. Could this be the first true upset?

(12) High Point vs. (5) Wisconsin

1:50 p.m., TBS

High Point was a trendy pick to upset Purdue last year, and that buzz has returned after the Panthers landed a showdown with Wisconsin, which has a dynamic guard in Nick Boyd (20.6 points per game) but a difficult résumé to dissect. To avoid becoming the latest 5-12 upset, the Badgers will need to keep pace with the high-scoring Panthers.

(11) VCU vs. (6) North Carolina

6:50 p.m., TNT

With Caleb Wilson in their lineup, it’s not far-fetched to call the Tar Heels a contender. But without the star freshman, who is out for the remainder of the season, can they even make it to Saturday? That’ll depend on center Henri Veesaar (16.7 points, 8.7 rebounds). Phil Martelli Jr., the first-year VCU coach, will get a chance to make his legendary father proud with some March magic of his own.

(14) Penn vs. (3) Illinois

9:25 p.m., TNT

Other Ivy League schools have had Cinderella runs in recent years. This time, Penn, which hasn’t won a Tournament game since 1994, will get that chance. It won’t be easy, though. Brad Underwood’s group peaked at No. 5 in the AP Top 25 this season and features Keaton Wagler, who averages 17.9 points.

(9) Saint Louis vs. (8) Georgia

9:45 p.m., CBS

The Billikens were a mid-major program that appeared in the AP Top 25. Georgia has averaged the fifth-most points per game in the country (89.8), led by Jeremiah Wilkinson’s 17 points per game. A Saint Louis run would become an undeniable storyline and further elevate the status of head coach Josh Schertz, who recently inked a long-term deal.

Travis Etienne wants you to know we’ve been saying his name all wrong

Travis Etienne is setting the record straight.

The running back made his first appearance in New Orleans after signing a four-year, $52 million free agency deal with the Saints and he gave the local media a lesson in how to say his name properly.

“Travis Ay-chan,” he told reporters at his introductory press conference. ‘So it’d be like A-c-h-a-n-e, and that’s how you always say Travis Etienne.”

Luckily, the 27-year-old Louisiana native knows where it all went wrong — and laid some of the mispronunciation blame on himself.

“When I went to college, I kept telling them my name every day, every day, every day, and after like they just couldn’t get it,” the former Clemson star said. “I’m like, ‘It’s Ee-Tee-En, how you see it is how you say it.’ It just took off because it was easy for the announcers to say it, I didn’t have to correct them every day to say my name.”

Etienne — and the incorrect pronunciation of his name — took off during him time in South Carolina, where he won a national championship in 2018 and racked up plenty of awards as a three-time All-American and two-time ACC Player and Offensive Player of the Year. He parlayed that success into being a first-round NFL draft pick (No. 25 overall) in 2021 by the Jaguars.

In four seasons in Jacksonville, he thrice posted 1,000-yard seasons, totaling 3,798 yards over 66 games with 25 rushing touchdowns to go with 1,338 receiving yards and seven scores through the air.

Now in New Orleans, the rampaging runner is happy to get back to his Louisiana Creole roots — and that starts with his name.

“When I started learning more about my last name and how it came about and things like that, it kinda stuck, it made sense,” Etienne said.

“I’m very much open to being Travis ‘Ay-Chan’ again, just being myself, I don’t have to correct people here on how to say my name each and every day. And I kinda love that. Just get back to me.”

Influencer Sara Saffari shoots down Puka Nacua dating rumors: ‘Chill’

Fitness influencer Sara Saffari is adamant she’s not dating Puka Nacua, despite how things between the two have recently looked.

Shortly after a video of Nacua appearing to hold hands with Saffari surfaced, the social media star went to Instagram to shoot down speculation that the two are an item.

Sara Saffari wrote in the comment section of a post on Instagram that she and Puka Nacua are not an item. “We’re siblings chill,” she said. Instagram/_mlfootball

“We’re siblings,” she wrote in the comment section of a post that reported she and the NFL superstar were dating,”chill.”

Saffari and Nacua first sparked romance rumors when they attended an event at a Los Angeles-area Topgolf last month.

They competed in some games to try to beat other influencers, and they seemed very flirty while doing it. At one point, one of their famous friends, Nick Nayersina, claimed they looked like “a power duo.”

Then, over the weekend, footage posted to TikTok showed the two happily walking through a food court, before Nacua seemed to reach out for her hand.

The Rams wide receiver, though, was spotted out on what looked like a date with another influencer on Monday night — and he has been previously seen shooting his shot at Sydney Sweeney and leaving a West Hollywood hotspot with Hannah Stocking.

So it’s certainly possible Saffari’s not merely trying to throw the public off their scent. But, either way, Nacua’s definitely having an offseason to remember.

Jack Hughes at center of wild wedding rumors with billionaire Indian heiress in case of ‘mistaken identity’

Jack Hughes’ whirlwind Olympics victory lap included a brief wedding detour.

The star Devils forward and Winter Games hero found himself at the center of wild romance rumors last week when a report suggested he would soon wed the daughter of billionaire Indian-American business exec Nikesh Arora.

“Indian-American tech mogul Nikesh Arora’s daughter, Ayesha Arora, is set to marry Jack Hughes in a traditional Hindu ceremony in Jodhpur. The high-profile guest list included Gautam Adani, the Ambani family, US officials and others,” a report published by local media in India read.

Naturally, the claims made the rounds online and landed in front of Hughes’ agent, Pat Brisson, who addressed the speculation surrounding his client Friday by telling Forbes, “The mix-up was a case of mistaken identity.”

Forbes noted in its report Friday how bride Arora “is several days into wedding celebrations for her upcoming nuptials to a different man with the same name,” with outlets misidentifying him as the Olympic gold medalist.

Hughes, who has been romantically linked to pop singer Tate McRae since late 2025, is just days removed from his gold medal triumph at the Milano Cortina Games, where he scored the overtime goal against Canada for Team USA in the men’s hockey final.

The 2-1 victory in extra minutes kicked off a lively stream of celebrations and controversy for the men’s squad.

While taking a celebratory phone call from President Donald Trump last week, the commander in chief joked about having to invite the gold medal-winning women’s hockey team to the White House or else, “I do believe I probably would be impeached.”

The remarks elicited laughter from the locker room, with members of the team, including Hughes, 24, and older brother Quinn, 26, speaking out in support of their female compatriots.

Over the weekend, the Hughes siblings appeared on “Saturday Night Live” with Team USA captain Hilary Knight and her teammate, Megan Keller, who scored the game-winner versus Canada in the women’s hockey final in Italy.

The golden tour continued Monday when Hughes, Quinn and Knight visited “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”

Drake Maye and wife Ann Michael are getting over Super Bowl loss with tropical vacation

Patriots quarterback Drake Maye and his wife, Ann Michael, are enjoying some R&R in paradise after New England’s 29-13 loss to Seattle in Super Bowl 2026.

As a blizzard engulfed the East Coast this week, the couple escaped to a sunny resort with an ocean view and palm trees, as seen in social media posts from the influencer.

“Alohaaaa,” Ann Michael wrote over a snapshot of the couple, seemingly suggesting they’re in Hawaii.

The Pilates instructor was sporting a purple Hawaiian lei necklace, while the two-time Pro Bowler had a Kukui Nut Lei around his neck.

Ann Michael modeled her stunning green dress by Show Me Your Mumu while on a balcony “with a view,” in another TikTok video.

It’s been a whirlwind year for the couple.

Maye, the Patriots’ third overall pick in 2024, won over New England fans as he helped guide the team to a 14-3 mark in the regular season in coach Mike Vrabel’s first year, just one season after the Patriots went 4-13.

The second-year quarterback, who dealt with a shoulder injury during Super Bowl 2026, and the Patriots were no match for a ferocious Seattle defense in the big game.

Maye was intercepted twice, sacked six times and registered a fumble.

The UNC product, 23, vowed to take the lessons he learned into his future with New England.

Ann Michael also reflected on “this incredible season” in an Instagram post.

“Not how we wanted it to end but still thanking God for this incredible season,” she wrote, including photos from the 2025 season.

“We are blessed to be surrounded by such an amazing group of people, who made this season what it was. This is only the beginning!!”

Ann Michael made a name for herself in New England with her viral holiday baking TikTok videos.

She had a rapid rise on social media during the 2025 regular season, while Maye played lights-out and put himself in the MVP conversation.

Her viral videos landed her a new show, “Beyond Bakemas,” with NBC Sports Boston.

Childhood sweethearts, the couple got married last summer after revealing their engagement in January 2025.

CORTIS steals show at NBA All-Star Celebrity Game

In a game that featured Tacko Fall dunks, mascots playing defense and NBA and MLB MVPs on the sidelines, it was a boy band that actually stole the show on Friday night at the Kia Forum.

CORTIS consistently drew the biggest cheers at the Ruffles NBA All-Star Celebrity Game in Inglewood, especially after they took the floor to perform two songs at halftime.

The fivesome belted out “GO!” and “FaSHioN,” and their vocals and dance moves were so mesmerizing, even Giannis Antetokounmpo — a coach of one of the All-Star teams — stopped for a moment to catch the show with his family.

CORTIS hung around for most of the matchup’s second half in some courtside seats, and at one point, the exhibition’s emcee got the hundreds in attendance to sing “Happy Birthday” to Keonho.

Fans could later be heard roaring when the group left the arena in the fourth quarter.

It’s the second straight night CORTIS has wowed in Los Angeles. On Thursday, they performed at the NBA Crossover fan festivities in Downtown LA and then got the VIP treatment at the Lakers vs. Mavericks game.

Prior to Friday night’s tilt, Mookie Betts — another high-profile coach at the celeb game — invited them to head out to Dodger Stadium this season.

The K-pop sensations, of course, were hardly the only famous figures watching actors, musicians and athletes battle it out on the hardwood. Guy Fieri, Victor Wembanyama, Devin Booker, 2 Chainz and Dwight Howard all had chairs to catch the action.

Team Giannis ultimately bested Team Anthony (coached by comedian Anthony Anderson), 65-58. Actor Rome Flynn took home MVP honors for the second straight year.

But, for those in the building, it was clear the biggest winners Friday were CORTIS.
