Call it TikTok brain, but if a cleaning gadget keeps popping up on my feed, I’m taking it as a sign.
Lately, that obsession is a handheld steam cleaner, the kind influencers swear will blast grime off your grout, sanitize your sink and make your stovetop look brand-new in seconds. To be honest, I’m sold.
The one currently living rent-free in my head is a compact, multi-surface handheld steamer that’s going for under $50 right now (yes, before the frenzy of Amazon’s Big Spring Sale kicks off).
Translation: this is the calm before the checkout storm.
Amazon
Here’s why this category is blowing up: these little machines pack serious power. Most clock in around 1000–1200 watts and heat up in just a few minutes, releasing high-pressure steam that can cut through grease, grime and bacteria — without a single drop of chemical cleaner.
So, in short, it’s the lazy deep clean essential.
Instead of juggling sprays, sponges and paper towels, you’re basically pointing a jet of hot steam at whatever’s dirty — tile, grout, upholstery, even car interiors — and watching it melt away. The appeal is obvious, especially if you’ve ever gone down a TikTok rabbit hole of “satisfying cleaning” videos (guilty).
So yes, call me influenced. But if there’s ever a time to give in to the algorithm, it’s when the product is practical, oddly satisfying and currently under $50.

Tesco F&F has launched a new rugby top that is ideal for the springtime(Image: Amy Britton/CambridgeshireLive)
Spring is a time when you can add some more colour to your wardrobe with bright colours and light pastels being most popular. After packing away all of your winter clothes, you might be looking for some pieces to style for the new season.
Tesco’s clothing brand F&F has launched a whole range of items that are ideal for spring including the F&F Pure Cotton Stripe Print Cinched Hem Rugby Top in Multi Pink. The top has been designed with “bold stripes and a cinched hem” to create a flattering silhouette.
The top has long cuffed sleeves making it a good choice for those colder spring days and has a fashionable collared neckline. The rugby-styled top is currently being sold for £22.50 and will be great to wear with jeans.
The rugby top was posted to the F&F Instagram page. The post was captioned: “The rugby stripe shirt every Spring wardrobe needs. £22.50.”

If you want to get your hands on the rugby top or any other piece the brand has released for the spring, you can go to the Tesco website to browse all of its clothes. You could also go in person to a Tesco store with a clothing department.
If this style is not quite what you are looking for, Boden has some alternative options. There is this Mya Short Sleeve Smocked Shirt that reviews say is “pretty” and “ready for warmer weather” or there is this Sienna Cotton Shirt, which could be styled for work or for a day out.
New Look also has plenty of new clothes in that might be more in line with your style. There is this Light Blue Button Through Baby Tee, which comes in a huge range of colours, or this Blue Speckled Lace Tea Blouse that could be nice to wear to a picnic.

Spring is looming, and that means that it’s nearly time to make the exciting (or dreaded, depending on how you view it) wardrobe swap around from chunky boots, heavy knitwear and long coats are tucked away until later in the year. Along with this comes the time of investing in key season staples, such as new shoe trends with the likes of minimalist basics, laidback loafers, and statement stilettos taking over the high street.
It should be a joyful add-to-basket moment. And yet, for those of us with wider feet, it can feel more like an endurance sport. Because while the trends are trending, not every brand gets the memo when it comes to fit. Straps dig in, pointed toes pinch, and by midday, you’re already plotting your escape route home. Blisters? Inevitable. That sinking realisation that they “might stretch”? Rarely accurate.
The good news? More brands are finally delivering fashion-forward options that actually allow your feet to breathe, whilst looking and feeling their best. From polished workwear staples to trend-led heels and everyday flats, there are wide-fit alternatives out there that look just as good as their narrower counterparts.

Our personal favourites have to be the Wide Fit Dark Burgundy Faux Patent Leather Pointed Toe Ankle Strap Pumps, which retail for £29.99. Not only does it tick multiple trends thanks to the faux patent leather fabric and the burgundy tone, but the pointed toe is a key shape for the new season. The point might make you weary, but they have been made specifically wide so your feet won’t suffer.

ASOS

ASOS provides a broad range of styles in the wide fit section of their website, including biker boots and studded ballet pumps. However, statement heels are big for the new season, and these ASOS DESIGN Wide Fit bow slingback shoes in sage green velvet, £32, are ones on our wish list. Wear them with a slip skirt and shirt for an office-to-dinner look, a pair of jeans for a smart/ casual vibe, or they make the perfect finishing touch to a wedding guest outfit. They also come available in a natural linen option that is just as stunning.
River Island
River Island Gold Wide Fit Open Toe Heeled Sandals, £32. (Picture: Metro/River Island)
Whilst River Island doesn’t have a great deal of options, they are another high street retailer to keep an eye on for their wide fit range, as they are adding more and more as the season goes on.
One of our favourites, which is a must in every wardrobe, is a go-to pair of gold heels that you can always rely on to have your back (and your feet) when in need of reliable and versatile footwear. These Gold Wide Fit Open Toe Heeled Sandals, £32, are style staples that come with chunky heels that help distribute your weight, providing better balance and comfort.

Next Black Patent Standard/Wide Fit Chunky Loafers, £36. (Picture: Metro/Next)
Next is one of the high street retailers that has a vast amount of wide-fitting designs and styles available to shop. Whether you’re after daytime essentials, need a signature pair of courts, or want to invest in some knee-high boots, you can shop to your heart’s desire to snap up the best they have to offer.
We love their Black Patent Standard/Wide Fit Chunky Loafers, which retail for just £36. Loafers are known to pinch and squash your feet, so opting for a wide fit will help alleviate some of that. This stylish pair has been given an updated look to pair perfectly with formal or casual outfits. The faux leather allows for slight stretch, so as you wear it will relax slightly. They are also fitted with the brand’s Forever Comfort® cushioned footbed, providing all-day comfort.
Sole Bliss
Sole Bliss Hero Stripe, £189. (Picture: Metro/Sole Bliss)
One brand to have on your radar if you suffer from bunions, as well as finding options for wide feet, is Sole Bliss. Loved by celebrities such as Dame Helen Mirren, Julia Roberts, and Shirley Ballas, they’ve even had the royal seal of approval from Queen Camilla and Prince Harry.
Whilst all of their shoes are specially designed with a wide toe box to accommodate wider feet, and have three layers of memory foam for extra cushioning, there are countless options available.
Their Hero-Stripe: White Leather & Multi Pastel trainers, £189, are a brilliant addition to your spring shoe collection, thanks to their pastel stripes along the side that subtly nod to the season. They would look great with a pair of light denim, a Breton stripe tee, and a bomber jacket.

When I was in secondary school, matte lips were everything.
Whether you were part of the crowd who put foundation on their lips and called it a day or not; everyone could agree that a great, statement matte lip was a very powerful thing.
But, as with so many things that are hugely popular when you’re a teen, it’s easy to develop a knee-jerk aversion to it when you’re an adult.
This is what happened to me, dear reader. Around the time I got to university, I turned my back on bold matte lipsticks in favour of, well, virtually everything else, and haven’t looked back since.
Well… That is, until now.
On a whim, I decided to try the Lip & Cheek Blurry Pudding Pot by South Korean brand Fwee, in shade Boss (one of the darkest colours available, naturally).
I was tempted by the fact it’s a lip and cheek duo. Even though I rarely go bold with my blush, I get way too much satisfaction from a perfectly matching cheek-and-lip combo.
Boots
Widespread love of K-Beauty isn’t new – and I’m certainly not immune to the hype. In fact, according to the Boots Beauty & Wellness Trends Report for 2026, one K-Beauty product sells every 11 seconds at Boots.
But when it comes to this little pot, the hype is very much warranted.
In fact, I’d go so far as saying that it’s got me feeling a way about matte lips that I haven’t felt since Kylie Jenner had blue hair.
Sure, I dabbled with Glossier’s Generation G just like every other millennial makeup wearer in the world, but that was semi-sheer and a lot more subtle. This is a very different level of pigment.
The first time I popped this pudding on my lips and cheeks, I put it to the test over dinner.
I didn’t top it up once over the course of the meal, and was pleasantly surprised to find that it hadn’t budged an inch while I’d been eating and drinking.
While you want to make sure your lips are in a moisturised, non-flaky state when you put it on (it clings to the cracks as you might expect), I’ve found that this lippy is also super comfortable to wear and non-drying, which is a very far cry from lots of the other matte lip products out there.
Heaven help you if you put it on and change your mind, though! Even when I tried to take it off, a lighter shade of berry lingered.
It’s super easy to apply to the lips – I just used my fingers and blurred out the edges a little for a softer look.
The main drawback is that it’s harder to get the cheeks just right with a colour this big and bold.
I’ve been using a brush to make blending easier, but the balance between too much and too little is a very fine one. For me, striking that balance is still a work in progress.

Spring has only just sprung, which means it’s time for that tricky edge-of-winter transitional dressing.
You know how it is – you leave the house in the morning, and it’s freezing. Then by lunch, you’re sweating your life away, but when you head home for the day, it’s chilly again.
And heaven help you if you stay out past sunset and forget a good coat!
But one of the best things about this time of year is that the weather is suddenly a lot more flat-shoe friendly, what with the fact that there’s (usually) no more snow or ice to waddle your way through, and a lot less need for thick cosy socks.
If you’re looking for a little flat shoe shopping inspo, here are some of the best flats on the high street right now that are perfect for chic gals about town.

Cons:
More expensive than other travel cots
A parent’s honest review of Out’n’About’s Nipper Nest
I’m all for the easy life these days, so when Out’n’About’s Nipper Nest landed on my doorstep for a trial period, I was intrigued to see how the travel cot-playpen would fare.
Over the years we’ve relied on a Joie travel cot which I panic-bought from Argos about three years ago when we were going away with our little one and had nowhere for her to sleep.
I’ve spent many an hour trying to put said cot up and down since then, as you have to lock the frame in place – sometimes this happens smoothly, other times not so much. The cot frame part-collapses, resulting in numerous meltdowns on my part.
I’ve had the same experience with other travel cots, usually when we’re staying in Airbnbs or with my parents. Sometimes the frames can be quite hard too, which resulted in a split lip for my toddler when she decided to throw herself at it during a tantrum one evening. And don’t get me started on those rock solid mattresses…
Anyway, I digress. Out’n’About’s Nipper Nest is a travel cot and playpen which is built for families who are always on the move. And let me tell you now, it’s the easiest travel cot I’ve ever put together (well, I didn’t even technically put it together).
You simply pull it out of the bag, and then stretch the legs outwards, and they quietly click into place. Unroll the mattress, pop it in the bottom (it sticks with velcro securely to the base so there’s no movement), and that’s it.
I love that the cot comes in a handy bag, so you can lug it around (but also store it) easily, and it’s also super lightweight – which makes travelling with it hassle-free, whether you’re carrying it through an airport or moving it around your living room fully-assembled.
The edges are well-padded (a must with babies when they start trying to stand) and the mattress, while still pretty thin, is much comfier than other travel cot mattresses which are like sleeping on cardboard.
The travel cot packed away in its bag
The Nipper Nest has plenty of space to play/sleep inside, and also comes with a handy UPF50 blackout cover so your kids can nap on holiday or sit in there to stay protected from the sun.
The base is also waterproof so you can stick it on the beach or in the garden without worrying any damp will seep up to where your child is sleeping or sitting.
The Nipper Nest in action on the beach.
With the travel cot doubling up as a playpen too, there’s a side zip so crawlers can easily get in and out (once you’ve unzipped it for them).
There’s also an optional bassinet attachment so the cot can be used from birth – accommodating newborn naps right up to toddler playtime. The recommended age is 0-24 months, but once they’ve outgrown it I reckon parents could get away with using it for older children who simply want a bit of shade, or somewhere sheltered to sit, in the garden or on the beach.
On the topic of putting the cot away – again, it’s an easy job. You simply squeeze two handle-bar-like buttons on the frame and then fold it into a Z shape. The legs can then be folded in on themselves. You wrap it in the mattress, put it in the bag, and you’re good to travel somewhere new!
At £195 it’s certainly not a budget buy (the materials and construct of this are certainly premium), but if you’re using it everyday as a playpen and then taking it travelling (or to the grandparents) for trips away, you’ll soon get your money’s worth.
Nipper Nest with UV canopy over the top
What other parents are saying about it…
“We love our Nipper Nest! It’s compact to carry and extremely easy to put up and pack away. We can take it to the beach or use it in the garden in the summer. The girls also love it as a cosy spot to read their books.”
“So easy to put up and fold away! Cabin approved luggage bag and takes up so little room. Great travel cot and fun for the children with the zipped side entry and ability to make into a ‘tent’ with the UV cover. The perfect safe space for little ones to play in or sleep in.”
“Our toddler has been enjoying using it during hide and seek and as a little den, the shade is both great for UV cover and for creating a dark space for our baby/ toddler to sleep during lighter evenings, or when sharing a hotel room and we require the light left on but the children need to sleep. The mattress bottom is incredibly padded and comfy. Really love this product, highly recommend.”
“Super impressed with this Nipper nest! I’ve tried a variety of different travel cots and this is by far my favourite, and it’s so versatile. It takes seconds to pop up and down, and comes in a perfect compact carry bag. You can also use it as a playpen or take it to the beach, thanks to the zip side entrance, and it comes with a UPF50 blackout cover, so perfect for the summer and to provide some much needed shade. The base is waterproof, so wet sand isn’t a problem.”

If there’s one thing you come to appreciate when you live with kids, it’s a good stain remover – whether it’s a laundry-related product (Napisan and Shout spray are my go-tos) or more of a carpet-based solution (of which I’ve tried a fair few over the years with varying results).
So, I was extremely intrigued by Shark’s StainForce Cordless Spot Cleaner which teams a stainer remover spray – which seems to do a lot of the heavy lifting, to be fair – with a powerful suction tool.
I’d seen a couple of videos on social media where people had spilled red wine on their rugs and then used the device, and it had miraculously cleaned stains without leaving so much as a trace.
It left me thinking surely, surely, there’s some trick of the light going on there and they’d be left with a faint stain?! But I’m happy to say I was wrong.
A curry stain on the carpet is no match for Shark’s StainForce spot cleaner
In a weird twist of fate, the Shark StainForce arrived a few days before my four-year-old accidentally dropped curry on our pale (and very new) living room carpet, leaving a lovely bright orange splat mark on the floor.
As our table is near the window (and away from the main foot traffic in and out of the room), I hadn’t realised the stain was there until the next day, by which time it had thoroughly dried, much to my horror.
Armed with the StainForce and accompanying spray, I took a deep breath and started to work at the dried turmeric-filled blotch with the tool’s bristle brush.
I then sprayed the stain thoroughly, left it for a few minutes, and returned, switching the StainForce tool on and brushing back and forth on the carpet while it sucked up the remainder of the mess.
The orange mark, to my astonishment, vanished.
Shark StainForce in the caddy
Obviously after this success I then had to put it to the test on the mother of all stains in another room.
We live in an old house that’s slowly but surely being renovated and one of the ‘untouched’ rooms is still home to carpet from the previous owner – who had lived there for almost a century.
There were black marks on said carpet, which looked like they’d been there decades, so I decided to see if the stain-busting tool would work on them, too.
I wasn’t expecting much to happen, if I’m honest, as the stains were extremely bedded in. But actually, after using the spray and with a bit of scrubbing effort on my part, the marks began to disappear.
Left image is the years-old stains with stain remover spray on. Right image is the area, which was still a bit wet hence the darker patches, after using the suction tool.
The tool is designed for use on carpets, area rugs, stairs, upholstery, and car interiors – but not wool. It’s also worth patch-testing the spray on a hidden bit of carpet or upholstery before you go all in.
The device is really easy to put together and use (the video instructions are super simple), and it’s all handily stored in a caddy so you can carry it from room to room.
Reviewers particularly like using it for cleaning up pet accidents (we have two cats so I’ve already deployed it on cat sick, which it cleaned up effortlessly), as well as food and drink stains.
I’d say the main downside is the cost: it’s an investment at £169.99, but for the peace of mind it offers when a cat or child decides to vom, poo, wee or spill food on your new (or spenny) carpets, it’s worth the money.
Similarly if you’re in rented accommodation and have spills and stains to get up in order to get your hefty deposit back, this spot cleaner is worth a shout.
