Additionally, Clare Binns, Creative Director of Picture House Cinemas, will be presented with the BAFTA Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema award.

The honour recognises her role in championing diverse and fiercely independent work on big screens around the United Kingdom.

One Battle After Another will be no doubt be hoping to win one award after another, with Paul Thomas Anderson’s latest film earning a remarkable fourteen nominations at this year’s ceremony.

But it faces stiff competition, notably from supernatural horror Sinners, with thirteen nominations, and Hamnet, director Chloé Zhao’s moving drama about the death of Shakespeare’s only son, with eleven.

Adapted for the screen from Maggie O’Farrell’s award-winning novel about the Bard’s family life, Hamnet has broken the record for the most nominations for a female-directed film in BAFTA history.

Irish star Jessie Buckley has been nominated for her lead role in the film after already scoring a Golden Globe and a Critics Choice Award and nominations for the Academy Awards and Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Co-star Paul Mescal, who was was snubbed during Oscar nominations, will also be hoping for an award after earning a Supporting Actor BAFTA nod.

Elsewhere, Marty Supreme and Timothée Chalamet will be hoping to make it three times lucky after earning eleven BAFTA nominations, including Best Film and Best Actor, following recent wins at the Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards.

Frankenstein and Sentimental Value each have eight whilst there are five nominations for I Swear and Bugonia, and three nominations for The Ballad of Wallis Island, Pillion and F1.

Also vying for the Leading Actress BAFTA are Rose Byrne for If I Had Legs I’d Kick You; Kate Hudson for Song Sung Blue; Chase Infiniti for One Battle After Another; Renate Reinsve for Sentimental Value and Emma Stone for Bugonia.

Leonardo DiCaprio could earn his second ever BAFTA after scoring his seventh nomination, this year for his Leading Actor performance in the already heavily decorated movie One Battle After Another.

First time BAFTA Film nominees include Robert Aramayo, Odessa A’zion, Rose Byrne, Chase Infiniti, Michael B. Jordan, Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas, Stellan Skarsgård, and Teyana Taylor.

Emma Baehr, Executive Director of Awards and Content, said: ‘We are delighted to welcome so many of this year’s remarkable nominees to London for the EE BAFTA Film Awards, a vibrant celebration of the creativity, craft and collaboration that goes into British and global cinema.

‘It’s especially exciting to have such an impressive lineup of presenters joining us on the night, representing the very best of film and the wider creative industries.

‘This year’s ceremony is set to be an unforgettable occasion for audiences at home and in the room.’

Revealed: How glamorous German Countess millionaire connected vile Jeffrey Epstein to the heart of UK government – and called him ‘baby’

She was the glamorous German countess with a vast fortune who was one of Jeffrey Epstein’s closest confidantes for 20 years.

Nicole Junkermann stepped down as a trustee of a cancer charity after revelations of her friendship with Epstein and newly released emails now show that she may have provided a link between the predatory financier and the heart of Westminster.

The 50-year-old London-based technology investor, convinced health secretary Matt Hancock to appoint her to the government’s influential ‘Healthtech Advisory Board’.

And she even attempted to engineer a meeting between Epstein and former prime minister David Cameron.

The former model and entrepreneur was charged with creating a ‘culture of innovation’ and with guiding the government ‘on its mission to transform technology in the NHS’.

She was photographed standing directly behind Hancock, 47, at the board’s inaugural meeting – a picture he must now wish could be wiped from the archives.

Last week Junkermann stepped down as a trustee of the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity as the extent of her roughly two-decades-long friendship with Epstein was exposed.

Lancaster University, where she was a visiting professor, is also reviewing her status.

A series of newly released emails show Nicole Junkermann (pictured) may have provided a link between Jeffrey Epstein and the heart of Westminster, including senior politicians

Hundreds of emails released by the United States Department of Justice suggest the paedophile began corresponding with her in May 2009, two months before he was released from prison having served 13 months for soliciting sex from girls as young as 14.

Junkermann described Epstein as ‘Mr Wonderful’ in one message in which she suggested she visit him once he was out of jail.

However, a 2003 diary entry she reportedly made, indicates they met years earlier.

Transcribing the diary entry into an email, she wrote: ‘I cannot sleep, I think about Jefrey. There are few people in my life which I want to spend time with – he is one of them.’ How can I trust him? How can I feel so much tenderness?’

By 2011, the pair appeared to have become infatuated with each other. Junkermann called Epstein ‘baby’ and they discussed a mysterious proposal, with Junkermann gushing: ‘You make me smile, you are in my heart.’

Discussing an investment she was mulling, she asked the shamed financier: ‘Daddy, How are u? Should I hedge now at 1.37 or wait? Kiss.’

By 2012, the exchanges become more testy.

Epstein at one point rages that he had ‘spent time trying to give you my best advice’ but he was seeing no ‘small sign of a of two-way street [sic] – not one intersting [sic] person, gesture.’

The German entrepreneur protested that Epstein had a selective memory, reeling off apparent gifts including a ‘cashmere bathrobe’ and ‘your jewelery [sic] which you did not appreciate.’

The emails show that Epstein offered Junkermann a job, saying she would be ‘very helpful to me.’

He is said to have arranged introductions to French banker Ariane de Rothschild and Leon Black, the billionaire private equity tycoon.

He also helped to secure her a nomination for the Young Global Leaders programme run by the World Economic Forum by obtaining a letter of recommendation from Larry Summers, the former US treasury secretary, according to a previous report.

In one email Junkermann asks him, ‘Do you trust me?’

Epstein replied: ‘Any reason I shouldn’t?’

Underlining their closeness, in January 2013 Epstein discussed conceiving a baby.

In an email sent to Junkermann, he wrote: ‘how would the baby thing work, what involvement would you need from me, I reflected on what is left to do that i have not already done …voila’

She replied, ‘Wow!’ to which he responded, ‘Is that a code word?’

Epstein followed up with: ‘where ? how ? what would you expect from me, me from you? It would make a better dream work’

Epstein tried to introduce Junkermann to Microsoft founder Bill Gates at a party, emailing her: ‘I have gates on wed, if you would like to join for part..

‘also why dont you consider working for/with me , organizing the worlds most intersintng pocpl, you can invest alongsie, you can re structure house staff, be very helpful to me, and you might find it challenging.’

She replied: ‘Let’s discuss it….Tried to call you’, then adding ‘Miss you.’

Epstein, notorious for trafficking young girls in a private jet he owned dubbed the ‘Lolita Express,’ teased Junkermann about her favoured mode of transport.

He wrote: ‘Why are you dtill (sic) flying commercial, its time to get your own plane. you can afford it.’

She appears to have become a trusted advisor before he was arrested. They jointly invested in an Israeli security start-up called Carbyne, according to a report.

In July 2017, Epstein included her on an email sent to former Israeli PM Ehud Barak, in which he argued that using Cyprus to avoid tax was ‘silly, antiquated and dangerous.’

Junkermann concurred, saying that Cyprus was ‘raising eyebrows’ and that she ‘would propose Luxembourg’ as an alternative.

That same year – 2017 – she married Italian Count Ferdinando Brachetti Peretti, 66, part of a wealthy dynasty that controls the Italian energy giant API.

But Justice Department files show that she remained close to Epstein – and was still making introductions for him – even after she became a countess.

In fact, she continued corresponding with the convicted paedophile right up until his second arrest.

In 2018, she wrote to Epstein: ‘I am hosting a lunch on the west coast in March for David Cameron would you like to join or anyone else who I should invite?’

A short time before Epstein was found hanging in his prison cell in August 2019, Junkermann referred to a letter published in The New York Times defending him.

In an email first reported by The Telegraph, she wrote: ‘Cross fingers it is just a wave and it goes away again……. bad timing on the whole Me Too.’

Junkermann’s bond with Epstein was only uncovered when the full treasure trove of evidence was finally released this month.

Born in Düsseldorf in 1975, she is the only daughter of powerful German businessman Heinz Junkermann, who would take her to board meetings from the age of 12.

Raised in Marbella, Spain, she studied business administration and management at the International University of Monaco and attended Harvard Business School in the United States

But she made her bones in the City of London where her NJF Capital has invested in dozens of technology companies including Owkin, an AI healthcare firm worth more than $1bn (£735m) that has struck deals with the NHS.

This perhaps explains how Hancock, who resigned as an MP at the 2024 General Election, came into her crosshairs.

The ‘Healthtech Advisory Board’ was tasked with ‘assisting in policy creation, challenging decision making and acting as a sounding board for new ideas.’

It is not clear when she left that role but the Epstein revelations were too much for those running the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, which had appointed her as a trustee in 2024.

The charity raises funds for the Royal Marsden hospital, a specialist cancer centre, which William and Kate became patrons of in January last year and which treated the princess for cancer.

It is understood that Junkermann also stepped down from a role as a visiting professor at Lancaster University, while her Linked-in page was taken down in recent days.

She says she ‘deeply regrets’ her conversations with Epstein and feels she was deceived and misled by him.

A spokesman for the countess said: ‘The scale of Jerey Epstein’s crimes is appalling. As a woman and a mother, Nicole was completely deceived and misled by him and deeply regrets their conversations regarding personal and professional matters.

‘These conversations took place at a time when she was vulnerable, and she was manipulated into trusting him and consulting him with the most personal of matters.

Nicole has been horrified to come to understand his true nature and the suffering he inflicted on women and girls through his abuse of trust, power, and manipulation. Her thoughts are completely with his victims, and she looks forward to the day the real predators face justice.’

Junkermann married her husband, 66, in what one newspaper described as a ‘secret (and) very intimate ceremony attended only by witnesses.’

A glowing 2019 article in the Il Mattino newspaper described Junkermann as a ‘technology consultant to the British government.’

In 2012, she welcomed another Italian publication into her South Kensington home where she boasted that of the 40 start-ups in her portfolio, ‘a full 12 – about one in three—are considered unicorns: they have an average size of over €10 billion.’

A Real Madrid fan who speaks five languages, Junkermann added: ‘Everything I’ve done, I’ve built myself.’

EDEN CONFIDENTIAL: The bald truth… Football legend Colin Hendry to tell all about his hair loss and court case

Former Premier league star Colin Hendry has faced more than his share of dark chapters in his life.

Last year he was given a 12-month restraining order after pleading guilty to harassment without violence for bombarding his ex-girlfriend with unwanted calls and gifts.

Former Premier League star Colin Hendry has faced more than his share of dark chapters in his life (Pictured in 1997 while playing for Scotland)

Beyond his legal troubles, Hendry’s battle with the man in the mirror has been a cause of distress for the sportsman, 60.

He has spoken candidly about the distress he felt after losing his famous blond locks and trademark mullet.

Now, however there are signs of light at the end of the tunnel, for Hendry, who captained Scotland at the 1998 World Cup, as I can reveal he is planning to write a book about his ordeal to tell his side of the story.

‘It’s something that I’ve decided I’m going to write about and include in a book,’ the Blackburn Rovers legend tells me.

‘It’s something that has got to be corrected from my point of view, and it’s something that is important to everybody around me and my family.’

Hendry appears in good spirits when we speak just days after undergoing his second hair transplant at Dr Mani Mittal’s clinic in London, to combat male pattern baldness, a process that has cost him £12,000.

Following a procedure he had nearly two years ago, his hair is beginning to grow back.

‘They worked quite hard on me this time. I feel all right, I feel good,’ he says. Speaking about his battle with hair loss, he says: ‘I didn’t really take it on board about how serious and how upsetting and how life-changing it could be, because my hair has always been part of me.’

Far from mere vanity, he insists the decision carried deeper emotional weight.

‘The amount of people who said to me, “oh, come on, big man, just get it shaved. Just shave it off and leave it” and for them not being in that situation, it’s easy. I couldn’t get used to not having hair.’

Hendry admits, that restoring his hair is also, in part, a tribute to his late wife Denise, who died in 2009 from complications and a brain infection following a botched 2002 cosmetic liposuction procedure.

‘Denise, loved my hair, she was a hairdresser and looked after it,’ says Hendry, who urges men who may be struggling as he did to seek help and ‘to talk to someone professionally’.

Cannes charity gala snub to Fergie

Her whereabouts are currently the subject of intense debate, with feverish suggestions that she took refuge with her first great love, Paddy McNally, at his chalet in Verbier, before hot-footing it to Dubai.

But one thing is certain: Fergie will not be surfacing at the Knights of Charity gala at the Cannes Film Festival in May. ‘Sarah is no longer involved with the Knights of Charity gala and will not be attending this year’s event,’ founder Milutin Gatsby, assures me.

Sarah Ferguson and Knights of Charity gala founder Milutin Gatsby in 2022

‘She is in a sad situation and I hope God clears her pathway once in eternity.’

His good wishes may be scant consolation to Fergie, who, for the past year or two, has revelled in the lavish hospitality on offer at the gala.

‘Everybody just needs to be themselves – why is that not good enough?’ she asked at 2024’s bash.

Perhaps not quite good enough if it means being ‘bankrolled’ by Jeffrey Epstein for 15 years?

I’m wishing many happy returns to Vera star Brenda Blethyn, who was 80 yesterday. Revealing her mantra for ageing gracefully, she tells me at a red-carpet event in London: ‘Stop worrying about getting old and just live. I think there’s beauty in old age.’ The actress also urged younger counterparts to embrace their uniqueness, adding: ‘I don’t see why everyone wants to look the same as everybody else.’

Kiss and tell! Kimberley shows off her new beau

Kimberley Garner has never struggled for male attention – but has she finally found Mr Right?

The former Made In Chelsea star posted a video online of her locked in a passionate kiss with a mystery beau on a beach in the Maldives.

Garner, 35, who previously dated trader William Claeyssens de Tena, is refusing to name her new man, yet she’s clearly smitten.

She tells me: ‘I am in a new relationship but it’s early days.

‘We met through friends over the summer [last year] and we started dating three months ago.’

The swimwear designer says her boyfriend has already been making a positive change in her life and has inspired some of the menswear designs in her rebranded unisex label which is now called Sunday. She says of the brand, ‘it’s like a his-and-her concept’ and adds: ‘It’s a cute, fun thing to do. My boyfriend loves wearing the designs.’

It’s not unusual to be scammed by anyone… as Sir Tom Jones and his fans have discovered.

The Delilah singer, 85, has warned fraudsters are impersonating him online to con social media users.

‘There are many fake online profiles impersonating Sir Tom Jones,’ his management said. ‘Sir Tom does not personally or directly communicate to individuals via his social channels.’

They added: ‘It’s sad and disheartening to hear of these scammers attempting to trap and abuse vulnerable people.’

I want more queer roles, pleads Erin

Erin Doherty shot to fame playing Princess Anne in The Crown.

Now Erin, 35, whom last year I revealed was in a relationship with NHS radiographer Sinead Donnelly hopes to explore more ‘queer’ roles.

‘I’m massively excited about queer storytelling,’ she reveals.

The Golden Globe winning star of Netflix miniseries Adolescence says the LGBT community needs more adequate representation on screen. ‘It’s been there in the background, it’s like “okay, you’re the [LGBT] friend,” it’s a bit tropey,’ she explains, adding: ‘Whether it’s film, TV, or a play, I want to tell queer stories.’

And the actress still longs to receive a script for such a storyline, saying: ‘It’s just not come my way yet.’

Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes believes the British stiff upper lip culture is driving people to counselling. ‘I’ve never done therapy,’ says Lord Fellowes. ‘I’ve always been pretty lucky in having friends I can really talk to.’ He adds: ‘Some of the English [people] don’t have that, they can talk as long as the subject is safe, but they don’t give much away of themselves. For that reason, therapy is not as important to me as it might be.’

Pippa Middleton starts revamp of her £15million manor

While her older sister, the Princess of Wales, strains every sinew to shore up the House of Windsor at this critical time, I can disclose that Pippa Middleton is revving up for demolition.

Pippa and her husband, hedge fund executive James Matthews, have been given the green light to get cracking at the Berkshire manor house they bought for £15million in 2022. The wrecking ball won’t be smashing into the manor – a listed gem, dating from the seventh century – but what’s described as a ‘modern lean-to extension added in the 1970s’.

The couple aren’t hostile to all modernity, however. They have permission for an AstroTurf tennis court and swimming pool.

I‘ll see you in court, Laurence Fox tells theatre

He famously won an apology and an out of court settlement from actors’ union Equity for branding him ‘a disgrace’ after he’d argued on BBC’s Question Time, in 2020, that Meghan Markle was not a victim of racism.

Laurence Fox, 47, is in the mood for another set-to – this time with the Theatre Royal Winchester

Now Laurence Fox, 47, is in the mood for another set-to – this time with the Theatre Royal Winchester, which, he claims, ‘cancelled’ him from appearing in a forthcoming production because of his political views.

The Theatre Royal insists that this is not the case, saying that it was independent producers who decided against hiring the Lewis star, but Fox is having none of it. Indeed, he’s eager that the next act be played out in court.

The Theatre Royal, he tells me, is ‘Charity Commission regulated. My political values have nothing to do with whether I can act or not.’

Immediately after his ‘cancellation’, he adds, he was contacted by a no-win, no-fee lawyer who is initiating proceedings on his behalf.

Single Sabrina’s ready to party

The former Tatler cover girl has revealed she is rekindling a former passion, after taking five years out to become a chartered psychologist.

‘I took a break from my art while I was studying because I thought I couldn’t be taken seriously doing psychology and fashion illustration,’ she tells me at the Wolf & Badger x Lulu Guinness party in Soho, London.

‘I had to separate myself from that world for a bit, but I’m back now,’ she explains.

Sabrina, 36, related to the Duke of Northumberland, has been busy since reviving her career as an illustrator.

‘I was at a party this week for a brand called Fanbod and that was actually the first illustration job that I’ve got back into for such a long time.’

An award for me? You must be joking, Sophie tells festival

Winning the Artist of Distinction award at the Newport Beach Film Festival UK & IE offered Sophie Turner a moment of sweet redemption. The Game of Thrones star joked in her acceptance speech about the word ‘distinction’.

‘When I hear it, I think of school and the many distinctions I never received,’ said the actress, 29. ‘Even my drama GCSE I got a B, which is not bad, but is some distance short of a distinction.’

Turner, who was educated at Warwick’s King’s High School, which costs £7,290 a term, added: ‘So to be considered an artist of distinction is to recognise the work behind the scenes that has elevated a B-grade drama student to the stage right here.’

The accolade comes after a turbulent few years for the mother-of-two’s love life.

Following the breakdown of her marriage, to Joe Jonas, she found love with Peregrine ‘Perry’ Pearson, Viscount Cowdray’s son and heir and was recently linked to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin.

(Very) modern manners

Conservative peer Howard Leigh believes Parliament’s new security fence does little to improve the image of MPs. ‘It’s an outrage that a Grade I listed building should have that in front,’ he tells me at the Henley Festival 2026 Launch Party in Marylebone. ‘It makes us look like a prison.’

Rocky Farr, Jim Sandlak and Brandon Prust were all officially inducted earlier in the day and honoured before puck drop with a ceremony at centre ice.

Barrie tied the game at 11:31 on a goal by Nick Desiderio and then went ahead 2-1 just 1:16 later when Calvin Crombie tipped in a pass from Carter Lowe.

London held Barrie to just three shots in the second period and went to the power play on four different occasions. However, they could not sold Arvin Jaswal and the game headed into the final 20 minutes with Barrie still ahead by two.

The Knights kept the pressure up to begin the third period. However, they ould not find a hole in Jaswal and Joe Salandra took advantage of a puck that was chipped out of the Colts zone as he caught up to it and went in alone to score, making it 4-1 Barrie with under nine minutes remaining in the game.

Salandra added a second goal with 2:57 to go in the game to finish the scoring at 5-1.

The Colts outshot London 24-20.

The Knights were 0-for-6 on the power play.

Barrie was 0-for-2 on the man advantage.

The Colts are now 20-1-1 in their last 22 games and have won nine straight games.

‘Use your backhand’

Former London Knight Mitch Marner was instrumental in helping Team Canada make to to Sunday’s gold medal game in Men’s Hockey at the Winter Games in Italy.

Gordon Ramsay reveals he is paying back daughter Holly’s £65k wedding flower bill in instalments as his money is wrapped up in 22 Bishopsgate

Gordon Ramsay may be the richest chef in the world – but a £65,000 wedding flower bill might be a step too far.

The celebrity chef, 59, has revealed he is paying back the mammoth flower bill for his daughter Holly and Adam Peaty’s wedding in monthly instalments as all his money is wrapped up in his new restaurant venture at 22 Bishopsgate.

Gordon is currently promoting his new six-part Netflix documentary which follows his journey in opening five restaurants at London’s 22 Bishopsgate skyscraper.

But despite being worth £162m ($220m), Gordon admitted his daughter’s wedding – held at Bath Abbey on December 27 – left him in tears due to the expense of the flowers: ‘I’ll be honest, half the tears were the size of the flower bill.’

On Thursday when asked how he felt watching Holly get married, Gordon said: ‘Firstly I was crying my eyes out, because of the flower bill.’

Gordon went on to reveal during the appearance on Heart Breakfast with Jason King and Kelly Brook that he actually asked to pay off the flowers in monthly installments because of the cost of his project at 22 Bishopsgate.

‘Oh I know flowers are expensive,’ Kelly said, to which Gordon replied: ‘Only Holly would decorate the entire Bath cathedral with flowers. One of the most historic buildings. Anyone else on the planet, no.’

‘She took her moment, dad you’re paying for this,’ Jason said.

As the trio burst out laughing, Gordon said: ‘I swear to god, the aisle was 65 meters long.’

He added: ‘Every time I walked past a pew I was walking up and down going “7 grand”, “another 7 grand”, 65 grand of flowers!

‘I haven’t seen the bill yet because I’ve asked if I could do payments on a monthly basis, because I’m still paying for [22] Bishopsgate.’

‘So that’s 20 million and 65 thousand so far,’ Jason joked.

‘All jokes apart, it was an amazing day,’ Gordon added, before saying the speech was his favourite part of the event.

In another look at the day, Gordon noted they ate prawn cocktail for starter and beef wellington for main course.

Elsewhere Gordon said the past 12 months have been ‘the hardest of his family’s lives’ ahead of the release of his Netflix documentary.

The chef spoke to Fleur East, Will Best and James Barr on Hits Radio about how the new show has affected his family, his daughter Holly’s scandal-laden wedding and his eye-popping expediture on the big day.

Holly and her new husband Adam Peaty’s nuptials were marred with scandal after he disinvited his family from the big day amid bitter rows with his mother Caroline over her outfit for the wedding and subsequent legal woes for his brother.

Alluding to the dramas, Gordon, whose six month documentary follows his journey in opening new restaurants at London’s Bishopsgate, said: ‘This has been the most challenging 12 months of our entire lives.’

Swimmer Adam, 31, tied the knot with Gorodn’s daughter Holly, 25, in the idyllic ceremony in December where his sister Bethany was the only relative attending the nuptials.

As the feud rumbles on, while the Ramsays have maintained silence, they appear to have alluded to the beef and even failed to remove a fleeting clip of Caroline from the doc – despite her demands she be taken out of the show.

The programme follows Gordon’s preparation to open five culinary experiences in London’s 22 Bishopsgate, the city’s second tallest building.

His family, comprising wife Tana, 51, and six children – Megan, 27, twins Holly and Jack, 26, Tilly, 24, Oscar, six, and Jesse, two – are heavily featured.

He admits that he has not watched the documentary: ‘I’ll be honest, I haven’t seen it because I never want to be that sort of little delicate, dainty soul that wants to obsess on how he looks, how he comes across…

‘And so this has been the most challenging 12 months of our entire lives. Huge commitments in terms of Bishopsgate and attempting a project of that magnitude. I trust, and sometimes that’s my problem. I trust too easy, I think.’

Moving on to discussing the wedding, Gordon went on: ‘Yeah, it’s just that amazing moment when you see your little girl just become an incredible woman…

‘But I’ll be honest, half the tears were the size of the flower bill. Sixty-five metre walk down the aisle. I was walking past £2000, £4000, £6000. We donated all the flowers to the local hospice and churches after that.’

London Knights move to within 2 points of Soo Greyhounds in Western Conference standings – London | Globalnews.ca

Henry Brzustewicz scored a goal, added two assists and then scored the shootout winner for the London Knights as they edged the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds 4-3 on Friday, Feb. 13, at Canada Life Place.

Barrie Colts win their 9th straight game 5-1 over the London Knights – London | Globalnews.ca

The victory moved London to within two points of Sault Ste. Marie for home ice advantage in what could easily be a first-round matchup between the two teams.

The Knights have 14 games remaining on their schedule.

The Greyhounds have 15 left.

Veteran forward Justin Cloutier created the first goal of the game as he worked his way back to the middle of the London blue line and then flung a puck toward the net, which Pittsburgh Penguins prospect Travis Hayes tipped in to make it 1-0 Sault Ste. Marie at the 9:41 mark of the opening period.

Jaxon Cover tied the game with his 16th goal of the season on his 18th birthday as he hammered home a Jesse Nurmi pass on a 5-on-3 power play for the Knights at 18:08.

The assist extended Nurmi’s point streak to 10 games.

Brzustewicz was also in on the play. Brzustewicz has points in 12 of his past 13 games.

Another 5-on-3 power play for London produced the go-ahead goal by Brzustewicz at 6:10 of the second period as the L.A. Kings first rounder notched his 16th of the year.

Ryan Brown assisted on the goal to extend his point streak to 11 games. Brown has the longest active point streak in the OHL at the moment.

Before the end of the middle period, Brzustewicz had his third point of the game as he and Cover combined to get the puck to Caleb Mitchell and his wrist shot beat Carter George at 13:59. With that, it was 3-1 for the Knights heading into the final 20 minutes.

The Greyhounds closed the gap to 3-2 just over seven minutes into the third period as a high flip was knocked out of the air by a Sault Ste. Marie stick. However, it hit a London player and went right to Jeremy Martin and Martin scored.

Story continues below advertisement

Martin scored again a little more than five minutes later on a Greyhounds man advantage to tie the game 3-3 and it eventually went to overtime.

Those five minutes produced four Knights shots and 2 Sault Ste. Marie shots but no goals.

That set the stage for two big saves from Seb Gatto and London goals by Brown and Brzustewicz in the shootout.

Will Nicholl of the Knights was 25-for-33 in faceoffs on the night.

London won three of the four games between the teams this year. Two of those victories came in shootouts.

The Greyhounds outshot the Knights 38-37.

London was 2-for-7 on the power play and 3-for-4 on the penalty kill.

Londoners and London Knights helping to propel Canada at the Olympics

Nick Suzuki and Bo Horvat have scored goals. Mitch Marner has two assists and Drew Doughty has been a rock on defence for Canada’s Men’s Hockey team at the 2026 Winter Games in Italy.

Canada is 2-0 so far after wins over Czechia and Switzerland. Canada will face France at 10:40 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 15.

Sam O’Reilly leads the Rangers past the London Knights to 5-2 win in Kitchener – London | Globalnews.ca

Sam O’Reilly scored his 20th and 21st goals of the season and added an assist as the Kitchener Rangers defeated the London Knights 5-2 at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium on Feb. 10

Barrie Colts win their 9th straight game 5-1 over the London Knights – London | Globalnews.ca

The Knights former captain matched his three-point output from six days earlier when he and Jared Woolley made their returns to Canada Life Place.

O’Reilly was named the game’s first star.

Gabe Chiarot of the Rangers scored the only goal of the first period on a play that started behind the net, as Dylan Edwards got his stick on a puck and put it out front to Chiarot and the Vancouver Canucks prospect managed to find a hole in Seb Gatto at 19:19.

Gatto stopped 18 of the 19 shots he faced in the opening 20 minutes.

Jesse Nurmi of the Knights tied the game just 47 seconds into the second period as he batted a deflected puck out of the air and in on a pass from Evan van Gorp. The play was reviewed for several minutes but it was called a good goal, giving Nurmi his ninth goal in seven games for London.

Nurmi helped to set up Will Nicholl on a Knights power play at 6:35 of the second period to give London a 2-1 lead before Kitchener came charging back.

Dylan Edwards scored his 30th goal of the season from in front of the Knight net at 9:56. Then, just over one minute later, Christian Humphreys of the Rangers slapped in his 20th goal of the year to put Kitchener ahead 3-2.

Before the middle period ended, former London captain O’Reilly hit the 20-goal mark as he raced down the ice short-handed and snapped in a goal reminiscent of the one that ended a game between the Knights and the Rangers six days earlier and Kitchener led by a pair through 40 minutes.

O’Reilly scored the only goal of the third period into an empty net to finish the scoring.

The Rangers outshot London 39-23.

London, Ont. sportscaster Pete James dies at 89 – London | Globalnews.ca

If you saw sportcaster Pete James somewhere in London, Ont., something was happening.

Barrie Colts win their 9th straight game 5-1 over the London Knights – London | Globalnews.ca

You may not have known what that was, as he was likely the only one who knew about it, and he was in the process of getting the story.

If you saw James, all you had to do was wait a little while and there he would be on the radio or TV telling whatever story he had found to everyone.

James was a presence.

That’s probably why he felt so noticeable when he was outside the walls of the studio or away from the TV desk.

For his entire career, sports information in southwestern Ontario — and often beyond —went through James.

In the mid 1960s, James became the first person outside of a hotel conference room to know that the London Nationals were becoming the London Knights.

James discovered this because he was literally outside that conference room with his ear pressed to the keyhole. He heard the words, ran to the nearest payphone and informed London.

Because that’s what he did so well. James informed everyone.

After beginning his career in St. Catharines, James worked at CFPL-TV and CFPL Radio in London right through to the late 1990s, when he left television for radio and a spot opposite Steve Garrison.

James also took on the role of radio analyst on London Knights games and travelled with the team up until the 2011/12 season, when he switched to a post-game analyst role with Rogers TV, working with host Ryan Robinson.

James’ work covering the Western Mustangs was legendary. He made you feel purple and proud whether you were a Western alumnus or not.

He was the master of ceremonies for the opening of London’s downtown arena, which is now known as Canada Life Place.

He would later be in the broadcast booth in March of 2004 when the Knights clinched their first-ever Hamilton Spectator Trophy as regular season champions in the Ontario Hockey League.

The look on his face that night, having covered the Knights for 39 years, was unforgettable.

The pride he felt for the organization was indisguisable.

A year later, James was the first radio reporter on the ice as celebrations went on around him after the Knights captured their very first Memorial Cup Championship.

James was a member of the London Sports Hall of Fame and also received an RTNDA Lifetime Achievement Award for his excellent work as a reporter.

James died on Feb. 4 at the age of 89.
