There’s a certain point in April when festival season stops feeling theoretical and starts feeling very real – and with Coachella kicking things off this weekend, that moment has officially arrived.

While it might be a fallow year for Glastonbury, the UK’s festival calendar is far from quiet. From countryside weekender escapes to city-based lineups, there are still plenty of reasons to start planning your outfits now – tickets pending or otherwise.

And if you’re wondering where to begin, the smartest place to look is the data. According to Lyst, this season’s festival style is being shaped by a mix of practicality and statement dressing – pieces that work hard and look the part. From standout accessories to heritage outerwear, these are the three trends dominating right now (and exactly how to shop them, whatever your budget).

1. Oversized sunnies

Jimmy Fairly

If there’s one shortcut to looking instantly put-together in a field, it’s a great pair of sunglasses – and this summer, bigger really is better.

As per Lyst’s latest data, demand for oversized aviators continues to accelerate (+42 per cent), with boho styles from Chloé, Gucci and Tom Ford leading the bestseller podium. Think tinted lenses, chunky frames and that slightly retro, slightly mysterious energy that makes even the muddiest campsite feel a little more cinematic.

At the top end, Gucci’s statement frames bring full fashion credibility, while Jimmy Fairly offers that sweet spot between design and wearability. For something more budget-friendly, Next and H&M have nailed the look for under £15 – proof that you don’t need to spend big to make an impact.

2. Cowboy boots

Zara

Zara

We called it during last year’s tour season, but now the data is catching up: cowboy boots aren’t just a moment – they’re a movement.

Fuelled by mega tours (from Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter era to The Eras Tour), Lyst reports that searches for cowboy boots have risen by 19 per cent since February – and as festival season approaches, that momentum is only building. The appeal? They strike that perfect balance between fashion and function – durable enough for unpredictable terrain, but statement-making enough to elevate even the simplest outfit.

The hottest brands in the category right now include Acne Studios, Steve Madden and Maison Margiela, but there are plenty of strong options across every price point.

Shop the trend:

3. Forecast-proof jackets

Barbour

Barbour

Festival dressing wouldn’t be complete without acknowledging one universal truth: the weather will do whatever it wants.

Enter the forecast-proof jacket – arguably the most important piece you’ll pack. And while it might not sound groundbreaking, the data says otherwise. Lyst recently highlighted Barbour as a breakout name in its Q4 Index, with a +147 per cent rise in demand across the quarter – and that interest is still climbing (+6 per cent month-on-month).

The takeaway? You can’t go wrong with a classic. Whether you opt for Barbour’s heritage silhouettes or turn to high-street alternatives from M&S, John Lewis or Joules, the key is choosing something that works with your outfit. Think lightweight layers, practical finishes and just enough polish to take you from drizzle to golden hour.

If this season’s data tells us anything, it’s that festival fashion is becoming more considered. According to Lyst, it’s no longer just about one-off outfits, but pieces that balance style with longevity – oversized sunnies for instant impact, cowboy boots that go the distance, and a jacket you’ll thank yourself for bringing. Consider your packing list officially sorted.

The big event, which takes place at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, will honor this year’s biggest performances in film and television.

The awards show comes as the Oscars loom just two weeks away, set for March 15.

Timothee Chalamet, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ethan Hawke, Michael B. Jordan, and Jesse Plemons are all competing for Best Male Actor in a Leading Role, while Jessie Buckley, Rose Byrne, Kate Hudson, Chase Infiniti and Emma Stone are up against each other for Best Female Actor in a Leading Role.

Elon Musk’s transgender daughter Vivian wears silky gown to walk in Milan Fashion Week

Elon Musk’s transgender daughter slipped into a silky gown as she took to the catwalk at Milan Fashion Week.

Vivian Wilson, 21, who has been estranged from the Tesla founder since 2020, wore a white Gucci one-sleeved dress that boasted a high neck and side split.

The look, designed by the Italian fashion house’s new artistic director, Demna, was finished with a pair of glittering pointed-toe heels and a sparkly silver clutch bag.

Wilson wore her long blonde tresses straight with one side swept behind her shoulder.

She posed up a storm as she made her way down the runway, crossing paths with fashion royalty such as Kate Moss and Emily Ratajkowski.

Just moments after her appearance, Wilson celebrated the achievement on social media.

‘I just walked for Gucci lmfao,’ she wrote on her Instagram story in text that overlaid a makeup-free selfie.

But it is not the first time that Wilson has been in the style spotlight.

She appeared on the cover of Teen Vogue in March last year and, two months later, officially made her modeling debut while collaborating with the brand Wildfang.

That same month in May, she additionally modeled pieces for the underwear brand Tomboyx.

‘I was terrified,’ Wilson said of the latter shoot during an interview with Vanity Fair. ‘Before this, I was very much the person who didn’t show any skin, ever, at all.

‘Even in my day-to-day, like going to the beach with friends, I would not wear a swimsuit.’

The star added, ‘So it was very, very nerve-racking, but I wanted to do [the shoot] because I wanted to have more confidence in my own body.

‘I do feel confident in my own body, but I wanted to prove that confidence to myself, if that makes any sense.’

In September last year, Wilson made her runway debut at New York Fashion Week, strutting for CHRISHABANA’s Spring 2026 show.

When it comes to being more in the spotlight, Wilson admitted to The Cut last year, ‘I’m not very good at being famous. It’s a skill.

‘I fought so hard for so long to be viewed as a regular person. There was a moment literally right before I became famous where no one knew who I was. It was amazing.’

The star added, ‘Everyone treated me as a regular person. I kind of miss that. But I also like being famous.’

Wilson is the eldest daughter of Musk and his ex-wife, Justine.

At the age of 16, she came out as trans and two years later filed to have Musk dropped from her last name amid her estrangement with her father.

Wilson briefly opened up about the relationship she has with the tech mogul while talking to Teen Vogue.

‘I don’t give a f*** about him. I really don’t. It’s annoying that people associate me with him. I just don’t have any room to care anymore.’

Wilson is active on social media and currently boasts one million Instagram followers. She often posts insights into her modeling career and takes fans along to events she has attended.
