Meet the high-profile Emirati business leader lawmakers are linking to Epstein ‘torture’ email

U.S. officials made new disclosures from the Epstein files on Monday, naming who they believe was the recipient behind a disturbing email sent by the deceased financier and sex criminal Jeffrey Epstein, in which he referenced a supposed “torture video.”

That name is Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, one of the Emirates’ most powerful business figures, who, for years, maintained a relationship with Epstein, with the communications often including explicit content, according to documents recently released by the U.S. Justice Department.

The latest revelation comes after Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky. and Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Calif. reviewed unredacted documents at the Justice Department on Monday.

Massie posted a screenshot of the email on the social media platform X. In the email, Epstein wrote to a redacted recipient: “where are you? Are you ok, I loved the torture video.”  The reply stated: “I am in china I will be in the US 2nd week of May.”

Alongside the screenshot, Massie wrote that, “a sultan seems to have sent this,” and called on the DOJ to make the information public.

That caught the attention of Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, who responded to Massie on X, stating the redaction protected personally identifiable information in an email address. He added that Sulayem’s name appeared unredacted elsewhere in the released files and linked to a document containing his name.

Massie later said Blanche had “tacitly admitted that Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem was the sender of the torture video.”

CNBC sought comment from Sulayem through DP World, where he serves as chairman and CEO, but did not receive a response. Sulayem has not been accused of any criminal wrongdoing. It is also unclear exactly what the referenced “torture video” was, and whether it had actually been sent from Sulayem to Epstein.

Authorities have stressed that a mention in the Epstein files does not indicate evidence of wrongdoing nor prove that the name was part of a purported client list or blackmail scheme.

However, the email adds yet another thread to a tapestry of years of communications between Sulayem and Epstein, which referenced everything from business deals, politics to sex.

A most trusted friend

The Epstein files, especially following the latest releases, have shed new light on how the deceased sex criminal networked and fraternized with influential figures in politics and business.

Yet amongst the many names prominently featured, Sulayem stands out, not only for his level of intimacy with Epstein, but for his prominence and sway in both the political and global business realms.

In his home city of Dubai, Sulayem is regarded as a leading business figure, coming from one of the Emirate’s main families. His father was an advisor to the ruling Al Maktoum family and Sulayem himself played a key role in the ascendance of Dubai as an economic hub.

Sulayem oversaw the growth of Dubai’s Jebel Ali port into a major deep-water shipping hub and the creation of DP World, a logistics empire that now spans the globe and oversees ports that handle a tenth of the world’s container trade.

He also led Nakheel Properties, a Dubai government-owned developer behind large artificial island projects, though he was replaced amid a major board restructuring following Dubai World’s debt crisis during the 2008 financial crisis.

His prominent leadership roles made him an important representative of Dubai’s economy amongst both the leadership in the UAE and the international community. Sulayem appeared regularly in international forums, including the World Economic Forum in Davos, often rubbing shoulders with politicians and giving speaking engagements.

However, emails released by the DOJ suggest that Epstein saw a very different side of the Sultan — and in him, a friend and confidant, trusted enough to engage in high-stakes discussions of business and sex.

A search of the name “Sulayem” on the DOJ’s Epstein library yields thousands of results, many of which appear to be email exchanges between the two from around 2007 through 2019, long after the financier was convicted of soliciting prostitution from a minor in 2008.

The DOJ’s file release shows that Epstein once referred to Sulayem as a “close personal friend” he had known for 8 years. He also described Sulayem as one of his most trusted friends in other writings.

In the world of Epstein, being a trusted friend appeared to have come with intimate communications regarding topics including but not limited to: arrangements with masseuses; sexual encounters with women; escort and prostitution services; lewd comments and jokes; and pornography.

The two often appeared to be discussing in-person meetings. On several occasions, Sulayem corresponded with Epstein about Little St. James, Epstein’s private island in the U.S. Virgin Islands, which prosecutors allege was used as a base for sex trafficking.

Political and business ties

The Epstein-Sulayem emails also highlight how Epstein often acted as a superconnector and liaison for his rich and powerful confidants.

In one 2014 email, Epstein appeared to invite former Labour cabinet minister Peter Mandelson to join a board of Sulayem’s, writing: “sultan [sic] has asked me to encourage you to join his board.”

The files also appear to show Epstein connecting former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak and Sulayem via email in 2015. That comes after a report from Drop Site News in January suggested that Epstein had brokered several meetings between Ehud Barak and Sulayem, citing previously released emails.

Ehud Barak has previously defended his business with Epstein, explaining that at the time, he believed the businessman had paid his debt to society, and that he himself hadn’t been accused of wrongdoing.

According to Bloomberg’s viewing of the public files and others obtained by the outlet last summer, Epstein also tried to help connect Sulayem to figures such as an aide to former French President Nicolas Sarkozy; Les Wexner, the retail billionaire and longtime Epstein patron behind Victoria’s Secret; and Jes Staley, who in the late 2000s was a senior executive at JPMorgan Chase & Co.

Sarkozy has not publicly addressed alleged ties to Epstein. Wexner said in 2019 that he had previously employed Epstein but was unaware of the illegal conduct for which Epstein was later indicted. In June, Staley failed to overturn a decision by the U.K. Financial Conduct Authority that found he had “recklessly” misled regulators in 2019 about the nature of his relationship with Epstein.

CNBC also confirmed that the latest DOJ files include a 2010 email from Epstein to Sulayem, asking him if he wanted to meet Thomas Pritzker, executive chairman of Hyatt Hotels. A representative of Pritzker declined to comment.

In the wake of the global financial crisis in 2009, Epstein sent an email addressing an unidentified “sultan” regarding an apparent investment deal and a payment to be made to Epstein. “Your people should talk to Pritsker,” Epstein wrote, adding that “Hyatt is the =erfect answer to MGM. not Barrrack.”

Epstein may’ve been referring to casino operator MGM Mirage, which Epstein and Sulayem had exchanged articles about. In 2009, Sulayem’s Dubai World had reportedly filed a lawsuit against the MGM Mirage for massive cost overruns.

Epstein also appeared to refer the “sultan” to Pritzker’s Hyatt over “Barrrack.” It is unclear who he was referring to, but private equity real estate investor Thomas Barrack appeared in other Epstein’s emails with Sulayem.

In a December 2009 email, Epstein sent a couple of emails to Staley regarding investments and a potential meeting, also with an unspecified “sultan.”

Epstein and Sulaymen also shared details of their separate meetings with other prominent figures, notably U.S. President Donald Trump and people within his circle.

Jeffrey Epstein and Steve Bannon.

The Epstein files indicate Sulayem was invited to Trump’s first presidential inauguration by Thomas Barrack, a U.S. diplomat currently serving as U.S. ambassador to Turkey and special envoy for Syria. “Should I accept the invitation,” Sulayem asked Epstein in a January 2017 email.

Epstein, according to files, was also linked to Steve Bannon, Trump’s former senior adviser and a key architect of his 2016 election victory.

“We have become friends you will like him,” Epstein said of Bannon to Sulayem in an email in February 2018. “Trump doesn’t like him,” Sulayem replied. “dont belive the press,” responded Epstein.

Bannon has said little publicly about his relationship with Epstein, though he has called for the release of the Epstein files.

Incoming fallout?

DP World did not respond to a request for comment from CNBC on this story, including on whether the company planned to keep Sulayem in his position.

No action has been taken against Sulayem since his messages with Epstein were first published last month.

On Wednesday, Canada’s second-largest pension fund told CNBC it would halt future deals with Dubai’s DP World following the Epstein revelations, saying it had “made it clear to the company that we expect it to shed light on the situation and take the necessary actions.”

It was also not immediately clear whether international institutions with which Sulayem has been involved would respond to the disclosures. For example, Sulayem is listed as an agenda contributor at the World Economic Forum.

DP World, in March 2022, also became a “Champion” of the UN Women HeForShe Alliance, an initiative encouraging men and institutions to support gender equality. Sulayem and DP World had been welcomed into the program to help “spearhead transformative change and allyship to achieve a gender equal world,” a spokesperson said at the time.

Sulayem was quoted as saying: “Becoming a UN Women HeForShe Champion is a great honor, and I feel very humbled to be working alongside such esteemed leaders to accelerate progress toward gender equality.”

“I believe in not just attracting, developing, and retaining female talent in the trade and logistics industry, but truly focusing on efforts to build a global ecosystem that is equitable and fair for all.”

In a statement to CNBC, a UN Women spokesperson said the group’s past interactions with Sulayem and DPWorld were limited under the initiative, which ended in December 2024.

“The objective was to influence institutional practices of DP World to positively influence gender norms and promote women’s leadership in a traditionally male-dominated sector … UN Women has no current partnership or collaboration with Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem or DPWorld,” she added.

Jeffrey Epstein has sparked a political crisis threatening the UK government. Here’s what’s happening

The release of further Epstein files last week triggered a series of events that left U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer fighting for his political life, despite the fact that he never knew the late financier and sex offender.

Starmer is under pressure over his decision to appoint Peter Mandelson as U.S. ambassador, despite knowledge of Mandelson’s connections to Epstein. The latest document release by the U.S. Department of Justice revealed more messages between Mandelson and Epstein, including after Epstein had pleaded guilty in Florida to a state charge of felony solicitation of prostitution, a case that involved an underage girl.

Starmer, who is facing calls to step down, has apologized to the victims of Epstein for believing Mandelson’s “lies.”

Here’s the latest

Starmer’s Cabinet ministers have sought to rally around him, who has faced growing anger from opposition parties and members of his own party over the decision to appoint Mandelson.

Two resignations in quick succession had ratcheted up the pressure, with Starmer’s chief of staff, Morgan McSweeney, and communications director, Tim Allan, both stepping down.

Who is Peter Mandelson?

Mandelson has been a key figure for the center-left Labour Party for decades, playing a pivotal role in the so-called “New Labour” movement that saw Tony Blair become prime minister after a landslide election victory in 1997.

Known as a behind-the-scenes fixer and nicknamed the “Prince of Darkness,” Mandelson was a Labour member of parliament from 1992 to 2004 and served in Blair’s cabinet.

He left parliament to become a European Commissioner before returning to Britain in 2008 to work with then-Prime Minister Gordon Brown, having been appointed to parliament’s unelected House of Lords.

After becoming prime minister in July 2024, Starmer appointed Mandelson as ambassador in Washington that December, a role he described at the time as “a great honor.” The appointment was controversial as Mandelson had twice previously resigned — in 1998 and 2001 — over scandals: one about not declaring a loan and another about allegedly influencing a passport application.

Starmer fired Mandelson from the ambassadorship in September, after Downing Street said new information had come to light about the extent of his association with Epstein.

The subsequent release of millions of files from the U.S. Department of Justice last week showed further links between Mandelson and Epstein. They prompted accusations that Mandelson had sent market-sensitive government information to Epstein following the 2008 global financial crisis.

One exchange appeared to show Mandelson giving Epstein advance notice of an impending 500 billion euro bailout for banks in 2010.

In a statement to U.K. broadcaster Sky News last month, Mandelson apologized for remaining friends with Epstein following his 2008 conviction.

“I was not culpable, I was not knowledgeable for what he was doing, and I regret, and will regret to my dying day, the fact that powerless women were not given the protection they were entitled to expect,” he said.

Markets react

Who could replace Starmer?

If Starmer resigned, a leadership contest to replace him would start and involve a series of votes whittling down the candidates. If Starmer refused to resign but a challenger gained enough support to trigger a leadership vote, the prime minister and that challenger would be put to the ballot. Either process could take weeks.

Among the potential candidates to replace Starmer are left-leaning Angela Rayner, who resigned as deputy prime minister last autumn after a tax scandal, the current health minister, Wes Streeting, and former party leader Ed Miliband.

Andy Burnham, the current mayor of Greater Manchester, was recently blocked from standing in a special election that could have seen him return to parliament — paving the way for a potential leadership challenge.

Despite Burnham’s popularity, investors are wary of a pivot away from efforts by Starmer and his finance minister, Rachel Reeves, to shore up the U.K.’s public finances.

Kallum Pickering, chief economist at Peel Hunt, said in a note on Tuesday that Burnham “polls strongly” but “whether his successful regional economic policies translate into successful national policies is an open question — his past snipes that the U.K. is ‘in hock to the bond markets’ have alarmed investors.”

Pickering said the fact that Rayner remained under investigation for her tax affairs “hurts her chances — and risks the narrative of replacing one scandalised PM with another.” But he added: “Her popularity within the party suggests she may be able to consolidate the left with the moderates.”

MAGA World Throws Steve Bannon Under The Bus

Steve Bannon’s name is in the Epstein files, and many of his friends now seem to be former friends.

On Sunday and Monday, prominent right-wingers took to social media to lambast Bannon’s relationship with sex offender Jeffrey Epstein ― even though the friendship has been common knowledge for years.

Recently released documents from the Department of Justice show that Epstein and Bannon were working on a documentary that was intended, as Bannon wrote to Epstein, to “push back on the lies” and “rebuild” Epstein’s image as a “philanthropist,” according to the BBC.

Epstein’s 2019 death put the kibosh on the project, and the location of the reported 17 hours of interview footage remains a mystery, according to Donald Trump biographer Michael Wolff.

Although some of Bannon’s fans have expressed shock at his connections to Epstein, the big names in conservative media didn’t make a big deal ― until recently.

Now, major conservatives are coming forward to criticise Bannon for being in bed with Epstein, and they’re not holding back.

Infamous Republican political dirty trickster Roger Stone slammed Bannon in two posts.

The first post, on Sunday, praised Elon Musk for being right about Bannon, but didn’t offer specifics. Musk previously said in a July 4 social media battle that “fat drunken slob” Bannon should be in prison.

Then, in Monday’s post, Stone attacked “Stinky Steve” for being “very far up Epstein’s ass” and “advising him on how to lie his way out of his criminal pedophile past.”

That’s our stinky Steve. Read the emails. He was very far up Epstein’s ass and was advising him on how to lie his way out of his criminal pedophile past

— Roger Stone (@RogerJStoneJr) February 9, 2026

Stone wasn’t alone in his attacks, which came at a time when US Attorney Jeanine Pirro announced plans to help Bannon erase evidence of his conviction for defying a subpoena from the January 6 Committee.

Dinesh D’Souza, the conservative filmmaker behind the widely debunked conspiracy film “2000 Mules,” mocked the hypocrisy of Bannon sucking up to elites while claiming to promote populism.

Musk joined in on the beatdown Monday morning by sharing a post noting the deep connection between Bannon, Trump’s former White House advisor, and Epstein, Trump’s former close friend and neighbour.

He captioned the post, “Bannon is evil.”

Fox News’ Mark Levin thought it was “funny” that Bannon’s “fellow antisemites and isolationists have not demanded that HE come clean about his well-established, video-taped relationship with Epstein.”

— Mark R. Levin (@marklevinshow) February 9, 2026

Right-wing talk show host Erick Erickson said Bannon’s close ties with Epstein and the Chinese Communist Party should make people “raise more than a single eyebrow when conservative influencers go on Bannon’s program.”

King Charles feels he has ‘no option’ but to provide for ‘unstable’ Andrew and wants to ‘contain’ his brother at Sandringham

King Charles feels he has ‘no option’ but to provide for his ‘unstable’ brother Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and wants to ‘contain’ him at Sandringham, palace sources say.

The former prince was booted out of the seven-bedroom Royal Lodge ‘under the cover of darkness’ after the latest release of the Epstein files uncovered yet more damning revelations of Andrew’s relationship with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

The King had felt he had to ‘remove him from the public gaze’ by ‘accelerating’ his eviction from his Windsor mansion, The Times said.

But his eviction will not push him far from the King’s sight, as his disgraced brother has temporarily moved to Wood Farm on the royal Sandringham estate in Norfolk.

Andrew, 65, is expected to move permanently to Marsh Farm, a quaint five-bedroom house nearby that is being renovated, before Easter.

A palace source told The Times: ‘The King feels he has no other option than to provide for his brother, who will be privately funded on a private estate.

‘Every time he’s tried to support himself by independent means, it has led to greater trouble. Containing him is the hope.’

After Andrew was stripped of his titles last October, the King has been subsidising him privately, covering his staff, living costs and security. Royal staff have been told they do not have to work for Andrew if they don’t feel comfortable, The Sun reported last week.

He is struggling to support himself financially, sources say, despite speculation he’d be sitting pretty on his mother’s inheritance and the cash from the sale of his multi-million-pound former homes.

It is not known how he has managed to get through all this money since he stepped back from royal duties after his infamous BBC Newsnight interview in 2019.

He got £15million from the sale of Sunninghill Park in 2007 – a 12-bedroom luxury estate given to him by his mother for his 1986 marriage to Sarah Ferguson. This was £3million over the asking price, which Andrew and Kazakh billionaire buyer Timur Kulibayev claim was to secure from another bidder.

More recently, he sold a seven-bedroom Swiss ski chalet in Verbier for a reported £17million which he had shared with Mrs Ferguson, by then his former wife. The couple had bought it for £16.6million in 2014 with a £13million mortgage, so it is unknown how much cash remained following the sale.

One large expenditure that could explain his dire straits is the multimillion-pound out-of-court settlement with the late Virginia Giuffre, who claimed she had been trafficked to Andrew by Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell when she was 17, which he denies.

The Queen and Charles had to step in with private funds to help him pay this settlement, it is understood.

The King, 77, was prompted to speed up Andrew’s eviction from Royal Lodge after being appalled by his brazen brother’s daily horse rides around Windsor Great Park past waiting photographers and camera crews, a friend said.

His majesty was heckled about Andrew by a member of the public in Essex on Thursday this week.

The friend told The Times: ‘The King is acutely aware of the public feeling. He doesn’t need to be heckled to understand the mood of the nation.

‘Accelerating him [Andrew] out of Royal Lodge last was another nod to show he gets it. A plan made is not the same as a plan enacted, and the King wanted that plan enacted asap.’

It was revealed last year that Andrew had not paid rent on Royal Lodge for more than two decades. He paid £1million to lease the property in 2003 and then spent £7.5million on renovations, but he has paid only ‘one peppercorn (if demanded)’ of rent a year since taking on the mansion, according to a copy of his agreement obtained by The Times.

Following the release of the Epstein files, Andrew has been under considerable pressure from The King and Keir Starmer to testify to the US Congress about his friendship with Epstein and Maxwell.

In this new tranche of files released, it was found that he had invited Epstein to Buckingham Palace in September 2010 following his stint under house arrest and probation after being convicted for procuring a girl under 18 for prostitution.

There are also new claims that a second woman was trafficked to Andrew, who he then took to tea at the Palace.

Other discoveries were a picture of him leering over a woman on the floor on all fours in what appears to be Epstein’s house in New York. Andrew has not commented publicly since the files’ release.

His former wife, Sarah Ferguson, is also under fire for her involvement with Epstein, with messages asking for money and even asking him to ‘marry me’.

Sarah Fergusson has also come under fire after her involvement with Epstein but has not commented publicly. The couple attended the Duchess of Kent's funeral together last September (pictured)

In one 2010 email, she spoke of her daughter Princess Eugenie, then 19, saying: ‘Just waiting for Eugenie to come back from a shagging weekend!!’. She visited Epstein with her daughters shortly after his release from prison in 2009.

Mrs Ferguson has lived with Andrew at Royal Lodge despite their divorce 30 years ago, but she will not be moving to Norfolk with him, finding a place to stay elsewhere in Windsor.

Justice Department will allow lawmakers to see unredacted versions of released Epstein files

The Department of Justice will allow members of Congress to review unredacted files on the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein starting on Monday, according to a letter that was sent to lawmakers.

The letter obtained by The Associated Press says that lawmakers will be able to review unredacted versions of the more than 3 million files that the Justice Department has released to comply with a law passed by Congress last year.

To access the files, lawmakers will need to give the Justice Department 24 hours’ notice.

Documents that were included in the U.S. Department of Justice release of the Jeffrey Epstein files are photographed on Jan. 2, 2026. AP

They will be able to review the files on computers at the Department of Justice. Only lawmakers, not their staff, will have access to the files, and they will be permitted to take notes, but not make electronic copies.

The arrangement, first reported by NBC News, showed the continued demand for information on Epstein and his crimes by lawmakers, even after the Justice Department devoted large numbers of its staff to comply with the law passed by Congress last year.

The Justice Department has come under criticism for delays in the release of information, failing to redact the personal information and photos of victims and not releasing the entire 6 million documents collected in relation to Epstein.

Still, lawmakers central to the push for transparency, described the concession by the Justice Department as a victory.

“When Congress pushes back, Congress can prevail,” Rep. Ro Khanna, who sponsored what’s known as the Epstein Files Transparency Act, posted on social media.

Khanna has pointed to several emails between Epstein and individuals whose information was redacted that appeared to refer to the sexual abuse of underage girls.

The release of the case files has prompted inquiries around the world about men who cavorted with the well-connected financier.

Still, lawmakers are pressing for a further reckoning over anyone who may have had knowledge of Epstein’s abuse or could have helped facilitate it.

Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche meets with reporters as the Justice Department announced the release of three million pages of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein on Jan. 30, 2026. AP

Epstein killed himself in a New York jail cell in 2019 while he faced charges that he sexually abused and trafficked dozens of underage girls.

The case was brought more than a decade after he secretly cut a deal with federal prosecutors in Florida to dispose of nearly identical allegations.

Epstein was accused of paying underage girls hundreds of dollars in cash for massages and then molesting them.

Calls for one of the creepiest Epstein emails to be unredacted

Social media users are calling for the author of one particularly egregious email to be unredacted from the Jeffrey Epstein files.

A message sent to Epstein’s ‘vacation’ email account in 2014 featured the vulgar note about the ‘littlest girl.’ When put in the context of Epstein’s child sex trafficking crimes, the email is even more heinous.

‘Thank you for a fun night,’ the email reads, followed by the second line: ‘Your littlest girl was a little naughty.’

It was sent March 11, 2014 from an iPhone to Epstein’s account jeevacation@gmail.com, which is the email repeatedly featured in the files.

Everything in the email is included except for the name of the sender, which, like many other names in the files, is covered with two black bars concealing their identity.

The message was just one of the 3.5 million documents, images and correspondences included in the Justice Department’s drop of Epstein files last week.

Americans are furious, however, over the selective redaction of the emails.

Calls for one of the creepiest Epstein emails to be unredacted

Social media is demanding that the DOJ un-redact the name of someone who sent an email to Jeffrey Epstein saying: ‘Your littlest girl was a little naiughty’

The latest Epstein files drop shows several egregious emails between the convicted child sex offender and other rich, powerful and influential people – though many names remain redacted

The latest Epstein files drop shows several egregious emails between the convicted child sex offender and other rich, powerful and influential people – though many names remain redacted

Critics claim the black bars and blocks throughout the files do little to protect victims like the Justice Department promised. Instead, they complain, it many times conceals the identities of those who were in contact with Epstein and allegedly potentially involved with his parties and sex trafficking ring.

The DOJ did not respond to the Daily Mail’s request for comment on whether there will be consideration to reveal portions that were previously redacted and black-barred.

The email to Epstein about his ‘littlest girl’ was sent six years after the offender was sentenced to 18 months in a Florida jail for charges of solicitation of prostitution from a minor.

‘America deserves to know who the f**k this person is,’ a furious X user wrote with an image of the redacted email.

Another said: ‘I second this.’

Following negotiations conducted in 2007, Epstein pleaded guilty in 2008 to state charges in Florida as part of a plea deal to avoid federal charges that could result in life in prison. At the time of the ‘secret arrangement,’ the Florida US Attorney’s office was headed by Alexander Acosta.

Epstein served 13 months of the 18-month sentence in a private wing of the Palm Beach County jail. He got a cushy deal and was allowed to leave jail six days every week for a ‘work release’ that spanned 12 hours every day.

He began the sentence the summer of 2008 and was released on probation in July 2009.

There are several nefarious messages sent between Epstein and other rich, powerful and famous men after his release from jail.

Defiant Hillary Clinton dares Republicans to hold Epstein showdown in public: ‘Cameras on’

Hillary Clinton is demanding that her forthcoming testimony before the US House Oversight Committee about ties to Jeffrey Epstein be held in public.

‘Let’s stop the games. If you want this fight, @RepJamesComer, let’s have it—in public,’ the former Secretary of State noted in a Thursday morning post on X.

‘You love to talk about transparency. There’s nothing more transparent than a public hearing, cameras on. We will be there,’ the former Secretary of State and 2016 Democratic nominee for president added.

Kentucky Republican Jame Comer, the Oversight Committee chair, on Tuesday announced that both Bill and Hillary Clinton would testify over their relationship with Epstein later this month.

After months of negotiations, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton agreed to appear for a deposition before the House Oversight Committee on February 26 and former President Bill Clinton will comply on February 27.

Comer had planned to hold a closed-door deposition that would be transcribed and filmed. Clinton is demanding that the entire testimony be given in public and live on camera.

Hillary also noted in another X post on Thursday that for six months, she and her husband ‘engaged Republicans on the Oversight Committee in good faith’ and ‘told them what we know, under oath.’

The former Secretary of State additionally stated that the committee ‘moved the goalposts and turned accountability into an exercise in distraction.’

Later this month will be the first time a former president testifies before Congress after being served a subpoena.

President Donald Trump, who was a fellow known associate of Epstein’s, noted in a Wednesday interview with NBC News that he likes Bill Clinton, and was ‘bothered’ that Congress was going after him.

Trump also shared the following sentiment earlier on Wednesday during a press conference in the Oval Office about the Clintons’ testimony: ‘I think it’s a shame, to be honest. I always liked him. Her, she’s a very capable woman. She was better at debating than some of the other people, I will tell you that. She was smarter. Smart woman.’

In a media statement issued Tuesday, Comer stated that ‘Republicans and Democrats on the Oversight Committee have been clear: no one is above the law—and that includes the Clintons.’

A contempt vote before the full Republican-led House of Representatives loomed for the Clintons this week before they agreed to testify before Congress, and has now been canceled.

Comer said that the Clintons ‘completely caved and will appear for transcribed, filmed depositions this month.’

‘We look forward to questioning the Clintons as part of our investigation into the horrific crimes of Epstein and Maxwell, to deliver transparency and accountability for the American people and for survivors,’ Comer added.

Clinton spokesman Angle Urena posted on X Monday that the Clintons ‘negotiated in good faith’ with the committee and ‘look forward to setting a precedent that applies to everyone’ with their testimonies.

Starmer Mocked Over Speech Calling For ‘Decency’ In Public Life Amid Mandelson Revelations

Keir Starmer will call for decency in public life a day after admitting he made Peter Mandelson the UK’s ambassador to Washington despite knowing about his friendship with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

In a major speech on Thursday, the prime minister will say that the people of Britain are “bound by values, by common endeavour and by responsibilities we owe to one another as partners in the project of this great nation”.

“I believe in our way of doing things – that in a world that increasingly preys on weakness, I believe Britain is stronger as a tolerant, decent and respectful country,” Starmer will say.

The speech, in which the PM will hail the government’s £5 billion “Pride in Place” project to rejuvenate deprived communities, comes as he fights for his political survival over the Mandelson scandal.

Labour MPs reacted in fury on Wednesday when Starmer admitted for the first time that he had know about the former peer’s links to Epstein but still made him US ambassador last year.

One told HuffPost UK: “It was like being present at the political death of the prime minister.”

In his speech, the prime minister will say: “I love this country. It is the greatest country in the world.

“The progress and prosperity I’ve seen throughout my life, the journey I’ve been on, personally from a working class background to this, I owe everything to this country and its values. I’ve spent most of my professional life serving them.

“Because I believe in them. I believe in our values. I believe in rules that protect those in need. I believe in the freedom to live and let live in decency and tolerance, in respect for difference under the same flag, a common good.”

He will add: “We are bound by values, by common endeavour and by responsibilities we owe to one another as partners in the project of this great nation.

“I believe in our way of doing things. That in a world that increasingly preys on weakness, I believe Britain is stronger as a tolerant, decent and respectful country.”

But a Conservative spokesperson said: “It’s hard to overstate the absurdity of Keir Starmer making a speech about values and decency the day after he admitted appointing an ambassador who had remained friends with a convicted paedophile.

“The prime minister’s authority is shot. He no longer speaks for the Labour Party, let alone the country.”

A senior Labour source said: “Have they tried burning No.10 down and starting again?”
