Exclusive | Are you among the rich & famous owed $20B in unclaimed NY funds?

The rich could be even richer — if they stop leaving money on the table.

The people owed a portion of the $20 billion in “unclaimed funds” from the New York comptroller’s office include a Who’s Who of political, business and entertainment figures — from President Trump and first lady Melania to lefty city Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, billionaires Jeff Bezos and Mike Bloomberg and music stars Jay-Z and Lady Gaga.

A claimant named Barack Obama is also owed money.

Even Gov. Kathy Hochul is listed as being owed funds from a government agency.

Under state law, after three years, a business must report and forward unclaimed funds to state Comptroller Tom DiNapoli’s office for safekeeping.

“People move, change jobs or forget about old bank accounts. When money gets left behind, my office protects that money and helps the rightful owners claim it,” DiNapoli told The Post.

“We return over $2 million a day – more than any other state.”

The fund involves more than 55 million people and entities owed money, including:

  • Donald Trump, formerly of the TV show “The Apprentice,” is owed income from NBC Universal Media and “miscellaneous tangible property” from TSG Interactive US Services LTD, which provides online poker.
  • Melania Trump has an unredeemed gift certificate from Bergdorf Goodman and credit-account balances at Christian Dior and Richemont North America.
  • Ivanka Trump has credit balances at Tiffany & Company and Neiman Marcus Group and is owed money from Getty Images, Google Inc. and from an overpayment from Baccarat Inc.
  • Trump negotiator Steve Witkoff has government checks awaiting him as well as dividends from Walt Disney Co. and income from NBC Universal. In 2018, he played a guest role on “Law & Order,” one of his favorite TV shows.
  • Billionaire Jeff Bezos has an old refund waiting for him from the state Department of Taxation, first reported in 2018.
  • Billionaire former Mayor Mike Bloomberg has unredeemed gift certificates and vendor checks or balances with Federal Express and Verizon.
  • Jay-Z, whose legal name Shawn Carter, and his Marcy Productions are owed income from Entertainment Partners.
  • Material Girl Madonna is owed money from the state taxman and payments from Screenlife LLC
  • Stefani Germanotta, a.k.a. Lady Gaga, has a claim with Elevance Health Inc.
  • Alicia “Fallin” Keys is owed a check from MTV, pre-2010.
  • Mariah Carey is owed wages from Mirage Entertainment and money from the state of Michigan.
  • Rapper Nasir “Nas” Jones is owed income from Cast & Crew Talent Services and Walt Disney Co.
  • Actor Robert DeNiro has claims on wages and profits from Walt Disney Co. and Amazon and some funds from old checking and savings accounts.
  • Hochul is owed funds from an unspecified state agency.
  • Former “Love Gov.” Eliot Spitzer reportedly overpaid American Express and is due money back.
  • Ocasio-Cortez is owed a refund or rebate from Con Edison.
  • Ex-Gov. Andrew Cuomo is owed a check from the state and money from insurance companies.
  • Chris Cuomo is owed wages from NBCUniversal.
  • Former Mayor Rudy Giuliani, emerging from bankruptcy, has a credit balance with Sunrise Bank and Bank of America.
  • Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has a surplus with Mass General Brigham hospital, and balances with Chubb & Son and Amex.
  • There’s a Barack Obama who is owed money from Paypal and Yahoo. It’s unclear if it’s the former president.
  • The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is owed money from Sales Force Inc. and Regence Blue Shield.
  • Billionaire John Catsimatidis’ son John Jr. and daughter Andrea have checks awaiting from a government agency as well as refunds and dividends from financial institutions.

Individuals can check to see if they’re owed money on the search engine of the comptroller’s unclaimed-funds website.

Because of privacy protections, it’s unclear how much money each person is owed. The claimant can call the comptroller’s office to find out.

“Famous or not, a lot of money or a little money, it is common for people to lose track of old accounts, checks, gift cards and refunds,” said Jennifer Freeman, a DiNapoli rep.

“That is why we’re making sure that hardworking New Yorkers can easily claim their lost money. These are tough times with gas and grocery prices jumping, so every little bit helps.

“We routinely reach out to individuals, businesses and non-profit organizations and host events all over the state,” she said.

“We use demographic and data-matching tools to reach out to people who may have lost money. We’re legally required to verify ownership of unclaimed funds, but the tools to assist with the verification process have greatly improved in recent years.”

The value of unclaimed funds has increased because states including New York have gotten more aggressive about requiring banks, insurance companies, utilities and businesses to report unclaimed funds, the comptroller’s office said.

“New York has always had strong laws to protect people’s money and help them claim what is rightfully theirs,” Freeman said.

The total value of unclaimed funds in 2023 was $18.4 billion, $19 billion in 2024 and $20 billion in 2025.

“We’re auditing banks, insurers and businesses to ensure compliance with the law and that they turn over funds that do not belong to them,” the comptroller’s rep said.

Justin Bieber and former mentor Usher embroiled in ‘heated exchange’ at Oscars afterparty

Insiders have wildly claimed Justin Bieber had a ‘heated exchange’ with his former mentor Usher at Jay-Z and Beyonce’s Oscars afterparty on Sunday.

Sources close to Bieber indicated it was Usher who approached the pop act with ‘energy and anger’ during the soiree at LA hotspot Chateau Marmont – but they insisted the dispute never became physical.

However, other insiders claimed the encounter culminated in a fistfight – leaving the exact nature of the alleged dispute unclear.

One source accused Bieber of having always been impolite to Usher, amid claims the Baby singer wants to freeze out people from his past, via TMZ.

Usher and Scooter Braun shepherded Bieber’s rise to fame when he was 13 and 14, signing him to their label after winning a bidding war against Justin Timberlake.

Early in their respective careers, Bieber, 32, and Usher, 47, were also both the proteges of disgraced rap mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, 56.

Last May, Bieber firmly denied years of rumors that he was molested by Diddy as a child, with a spokesperson saying he was ‘not among Sean Combs’ victims.’

The Daily Mail has contacted Usher and Bieber’s representatives for comment and has yet to hear back.

Among the star-studded guest list at Beyonce and Jay-Z’s Oscars afterparty were Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce as well as Timothee Chalamet and Kylie Jenner.

Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan were in attendance, as were Jacob Elordi, Teyana Taylor, Vin Diesel, Sofia Vergara, Austin Butler, Emma Stone, Emma Watson, Jon Batiste, Chloe Bailey and Vanessa and Natalia Bryant.

Bieber’s wife Hailey, nee Baldwin, was also among the invitees, along with her longtime close friend and fellow supermodel Kendall Jenner.

None of the famous names who dropped by Beyonce and Jay-Z’s party has publicly discussed witnessing any spat unfold between Bieber and Usher.

Bieber went viral for his singing videos on YouTube in 2007 at the age of 13, leading to his discovery by business partners Scooter Braun and Usher.

They signed him the following year and guided him along his rise to global fame, with Bieber at one point moving to Atlanta with his mother to work with Usher.

‘I definitely try to be as much of a big brother, mentor and protector as I can,’ Usher said on the French radio show Le 6/9 in 2010.

Back in 2024, Usher revealed that he had asked Bieber to be a part of his Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show in Las Vegas – but the Peaches hitmaker turned down the offer.

‘I honor and recognize that my brother, you know, he – I think that it might’ve been the fact that he’s just wanting to tell a different story right now, and I understand that,’ Usher said during an interview on The Breakfast Club in 2024.

‘But we did have a brief conversation, and we’re gonna do something else in the future,’ the performer added. ‘No love lost or anything like that.’

The star then shared that he had reached out to other music artists as well.

‘He’s gonna play the Super Bowl,’ Usher added of Bieber at the time. ‘I’ll go ahead and give you that – in the future. I profess that over his life.

‘It’s time, because he has a career that deserves it. But it just didn’t happen, but that doesn’t mean it’s not going to.’

And during a past interview with People, Usher also shared that he signed Bieber after a ‘bidding war’ with Justin Timberlake.

‘…And it was a bit of a bidding war between me and Justin Timberlake,’ the My Boo hitmaker recalled.

‘I was like, “I’m not certain that I could understand each and every producer that this artist could benefit from, but what I can tell you is I’m going to give you my passion, and I’m going to give you every bit of what I have to offer.”‘

Bieber and Usher were seemingly last pictured together back in 2021 as they attended a Lakers game in Los Angeles.

Braun meanwhile emerged as one of the top music managers in the business, with a client list including Bieber as well as Ariana Grande and Demi Lovato.

He announced his retirement from the profession in June 2024, one day after he and Bieber ended their business relationship.

Bieber and Braun’s bond disintegrated into an explosive financial feud that ended with a settlement last year, in which the pop act allegedly agreed to pay a $26 million in costs related to the cancellation of his Justice tour in 2022, sources told TMZ.

Under the terms of the deal, Bieber was also reportedly meant to pay half of the $11 million in unpaid commission Braun claimed to be owed.

Usher and Bieber’s history with Diddy fell under renewed scrutiny when the rap mogul faced a raft of sex crime allegations he strenuously denied.

After a highly publicized trial, Diddy was acquitted last July of the most serious charges against him, sex trafficking and racketeering, though he was found guilty on two lesser charges of transportation to engage in prostitution.

As the scandal swirled around him, an old video resurfaced of him and a 15-year-old Bieber in which they discussed spending ’48 hours’ together.

‘He’s having 48 hours with Diddy, where we hanging out and what we’re doing we can’t really disclose. But it’s definitely a 15-year-old’s dream,’ said Diddy.

‘I have been given custody of him. He’s signed to Usher and I had legal guardianship of Usher when he did his first album. I don’t have legal guardianship of him but for the next 48 hours he’s with me and we’re gonna go full crazy.’

Bieber – who was standing next to Diddy in the video – offered only perfunctory contributions to the discussion like: ‘Yeah’ and: ‘Full crazy.’

Another unearthed video showed Diddy asking a then 16-year-old Bieber why he had not ‘been calling me and hanging out the way we used to hang out.’

An apparently anxious Bieber replied that Diddy had ‘tried to get in contact with me’ but ‘never got my number. I’m going to tell you my number.’

Fan concerns mounted for Bieber’s wellbeing in the wake of Diddy’s downfall, especially given the young singer’s hollow-eyed and disheveled appearance.

Speculation reached such a fever pitch that Bieber broke his silence through a spokesperson to deny that Diddy had ever sexually abused him.

‘Although Justin is not among Sean Combs’ victims, there are individuals who were genuinely harmed by him. Shifting focus away from this reality detracts from the justice these victims rightfully deserve,’ said the statement provided to TMZ.

Meanwhile, when Usher was 15, his manager LA Reid sent him to Los Angeles to spend a year living with Diddy in what has been described as ‘Puffy Flavor Camp.’

‘It was pretty wild. It was crazy. There were very curious things taking place and I didn’t necessarily understand it,’ Usher said on The Howard Stern Show in 2016.

When he was then asked whether he would ever send his own children to ‘Puffy Flavor Camp,’ Usher categorically responded: ‘Hell no!’

Michael Rubin’s Fanatics Super Bowl Party was the place to be in San Francisco, Calif., on Saturday.

The annual bash was jam-packed with A-listers once again, making it one of the most sought-after parties to score an invite to during Big Game Weekend.

One of the earliest celebs to arrive and make his way down the red carpet at Pier 48 was NFL legend Tom Brady, followed by New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, New York Giants star Cam Skattebo and Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow.

Shortly after, we spotted everyone from influencer Alix Earle — who, along with Brady, has been hopping around to all the hottest Super Bowl parties this week — to singer J Balvin, NFL star Odell Beckham Jr., retired NBA pro Dwight Howard, actor Jamie Foxx and “CBS Mornings” host Gayle King.

Of putting together such an A-list guest list this year, Fanatics CEO Rubin exclusively told Page Six that it was “really easy” thanks to the Patriots making it into the Super Bowl.

“I get one of my closest friends, Robert, [and Kraft Group president] Jonathan Kraft actually being in the game, that helps, by the way, when your friends are playing in the game,” he explained on the red carpet.

“What’s going to make it a great week is that, we’re going to have the best party ever today and then the [New England Patriots] are going to win the game tomorrow.”

Inside the star-studded bash, Page Six spotted rapper Jay-Z hanging out with friends in an exclusive, roped-off area of the venue, taking a spot right next to the stage.

Just a few feet away, “Bloody Valentine” rocker MGK was seen chatting it up with actor Kevin Costner, who became “fast friends” with the singer’s close pal, Pete Davidson, at last year’s VIP fête.

Kendall Jenner was also in attendance — after recently appearing in a Super Bowl 2026 ad for Fanatics Sportsbook — and at one point stopped to snap an unexpected pic with Kraft.

Guests at the party were entertained from beginning to end, with performances from Cardi B — who encouraged partygoers to take shots with her in celebration — along with SZA, Travis Scott, Ciara, 21 Savage, Don Toliver, Chase B and Nelly and Ashanti.

The Fanatics bash kicked off just one day before the New England Patriots face off against the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl LX at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif.

Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny, meanwhile, will be headlining the Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show, following an opening ceremony by Green Day and pre-game performances from Charlie Puth, Brandi Carlile and Coco Jones.

“I just want to have fun, it’s going to be a huge party,” the “King of Latin Trap” (real name: Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio) teased during Apple Music’s press conference in San Francisco Thursday.

“I don’t want to give spoilers; people only need to worry about dancing. They don’t even have to learn Spanish; it’s better if they dance, but there’s no better dance [than one] that comes from the heart.”

Tune into all the Super Bowl 2026 festivities live on NBC, Peacock, Telemundo and Universo Sunday.
