A Haitian illegal immigrant who was caught and released by the Biden administration in 2022 was arrested after allegedly bludgeoning a mother to death with a hammer on Friday outside a gas station in Fort Myers, Florida, in broad daylight.

Rolbert Joachim, 40, is charged with second-degree murder and criminal damage to property, according to Lee County Sheriff’s Office jail records.

Surveillance footage appeared to show Joachim smashing the woman’s car windshield, approaching her, and repeatedly hitting her in the head with a hammer — killing her in broad daylight, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

The woman, whose identity has not yet been publicly released, was reportedly a store clerk inside the gas station.

She was also the mother of two teenage daughters, according to a report from local outlet Gulf Coast News.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) assisted the Fort Myers Police Department in tracking down and arresting Joachim on Mango Street in Fort Myers.

Joachim first entered the U.S. in August 2022 and was released into the country under the Biden administration, according to DHS.

A federal judge issued a final order of removal against him later that year, but he was granted Temporary Protected Status — which expired in 2024.

“This illegal alien barbarically hit this woman in the head multiple times with a hammer,” DHS acting assistant secretary Lauren Bis wrote in a statement. “This heinous murderer was RELEASED into the country by the Biden administration. Not only did the Biden administration release him into the country, but they then gave him temporary protected status. Their reckless immigration policies cost this woman her life.”

ICE has lodged a detainer against Joachim, and he will be deported regardless of the outcome of the case.

“The arrest of this criminal is an example of how ICE and local authorities can work together to swiftly bring criminals to justice and make our communities safer,” Bis said.

Former Migos member Offset was reportedly shot while in Florida on Monday.

The 34-year-old rapper — and ex of Cardi B — was shot near the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, TMZ reported.

A representative for Offset (real name: Kiari Kendrell Cephus) confirmed that he had been hit to the publication.

However, they offered some good news and reportedly said that he was ‘fine’ after the altercation.

The extent of his injuries is still unclear, but they said he ‘is currently at the hospital receiving medical care.’

‘He is stable and being closely monitored,’ Offset’s representative added.

In a statement to TMZ, the Seminole County Sheriff’s Department said, ‘We are aware of an incident that occurred at a valet area after 7 p.m. Monday outside of Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood that resulted in non-life threatening injuries to an individual who was transported to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood.

‘Seminole Police were on site immediately and the situation was contained quickly,’ they continued. ‘Two individuals have been detained by police. The investigation is ongoing. The site is secure and there is no threat to the public. Operations continue as normal.’

The Daily Mail has reached out for comment to Offset’s representative, as well as the Seminole County Sheriff’s Department and the Hollywood, Florida, Police Department.

Video circulating on social media allegedly taken at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino after the shooting showed police officers near the valet stand as they attempted to restrain two men.

One was seen being held on the ground by police, while two officers attempted to push back another standing man who was struggling with them.

The chilling attack comes more than three years after Offset’s fellow Migos member Takeoff was shot and killed outside of a bowling alley in Houston, Texas.

The Seminole County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement that the shooting took place at 7 p.m. by the valet area. ‘Seminole Police were on site immediately and the situation was contained quickly. The latest location pings from Contender, the largest adult male white shark tagged in the Atlantic, are helping scientists to understand possible reasons for shark migration patterns. 

OCEARCH tagged Contender in January 2025 off the Florida/Georgia coast. 

Since then, his location has been marked by satellite pings as he moves and migrates during the year. 

On Wednesday, April 1, Contender was pinged past the Gulf Stream deep off the coast of Georgia. 

OCEARCH scientists said his recent movements from near the coast of Florida to rapidly moving out into deeper waters could be a sign of breeding. 

“This sudden movement could be to forage in deeper waters, but we cannot rule out the possibility that it’s related to reproduction at this time of year,” said OCEARCH Senior Data Scientist John Tyminski.

OCEARCH said these trends are common among mature male white sharks like Contender and Breton. 

Since his tag on Wednesday, Contender has moved back closer to the Georgia coast, still in deeper waters, but just on the edge of the Gulf Stream. 

Clocking in at nearly 14 feet long and roughly 1,650 pounds at the time of his tagging, Contender is OCEARCH’s largest male white shark ever tagged in the Atlantic.

His movements have taken him all around the East Coast of the US, and up into Canada. 

OCEARCH is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to researching and protecting sharks, whales, sea turtles and other ocean life, tagging these animals to track and study their migration habits and behaviors from afar. 

The parents of the suspects connected to the foiled explosive attack outside MacDill Air Force Base in Florida last month are illegal immigrants, the Department of Homeland Security announced, adding that the case underscores the dangers of birthright citizenship.

ICE agents took the parents, identified as Qiu Qin Zou and Jia Zhang Zheng, into custody on March 18, days after their son, Alen Zheng, allegedly planted an explosive device outside the base.

Officials said the parents illegally entered the United States and applied for asylum in 1993, but an immigration judge denied those claims and ordered both Zheng and Zou removed from the US in 1998.

The Board of Immigration Appeals denied multiple attempts by the pair to reopen their case, but they remained in the US for decades despite the removal order.

The arrests add a new dimension to the case, as the Trump administration argues it underscores national security risks tied to birthright citizenship, an issue now before the Supreme Court.

Their children — Alen Zheng and his sister, Ann Mary Zheng — were both born in the US and are citizens.

Federal authorities allege Alen Zheng planted an improvised explosive device outside the MacDill Air Force Base visitor center in Tampa on March 10, while his sister later helped cover up the crime.

Prosecutors said Ann Mary Zheng “assisted after the fact” and tampered with evidence to hinder her brother’s arrest.

Federal investigators believe Alen Zheng fled to China and remains there. His sister was arrested after returning to the US through Detroit.

The explosive device, described by officials as potentially “very deadly,” failed to detonate and was discovered six days later by an Air Force airman.

Investigators later linked the device to materials recovered from Zheng’s home and a burner phone used to place a cryptic 911 call warning about the bomb.

DHS officials said the case highlights broader concerns about immigration enforcement and citizenship laws, as the Supreme Court weighs the scope of birthright citizenship under the 14th Amendment.

“Automatically granting citizenship to children of illegal aliens born in the US … poses a major national security risk,” DHS Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis said in a statement. “This incident underscores the severe national security threat that illegal immigration and birthright citizenship pose to the United States.”

The agency noted that the suspects were born in the United States after their parents entered the country illegally.

President Donald Trump moved to restrict birthright citizenship through an executive order signed on his first day in office, arguing the current interpretation of the Constitution is flawed.

The policy is being challenged in the Supreme Court, setting up a major legal battle over the scope of the 14th Amendment.

Federal prosecutors have charged Alen Zheng with attempted destruction of government property by fire or explosion, as well as weapons-related offenses, which could carry up to 40 years in prison.

Ann Mary Zheng faces charges of accessory after the fact and evidence tampering, with a potential sentence of up to 30 years.

Officials have not publicly identified a motive or confirmed any connection to the Chinese government.

MacDill Air Force Base houses US Central Command and US Special Operations Command, making it one of the most strategically significant military installations in the country.

A handicapped Florida handyman was fined $345 by his city and faces additional charges each month for parking his work truck in his driveway – as officials claim he is breaking the city’s municipal code.

Bali Ramnarace was ordered to remove his 10-foot commercial box truck from his Boynton Beach property, a request he says would make his life more difficult because of his physical limitations.

“It’s ridiculous what they’re doing to people. People make a living by this,” Ramnarace told WPTV.

The single father, who is at the center of a civil lawsuit with the Palm Beach County city, asked to be “grandfathered” in because he’s been parking the vehicle in his own driveway for 45 years, and it physically helps him each day.

“I think they should have some consideration, because I’m handicapped and this is very convenient when this is here at my house,” Ramnarace said. “That’s how I make a living, without that I can’t do anything.”

Boynton Beach City officials argued Ramnarace’s truck violates the municipal code, which is aimed at regulating vehicles in residential areas.

The code, Chapter 14 Section 14-3, is intended to protect “property values and character of property within residential areas” by eliminating larger vehicles, including trucks, tractors, heavy equipment and buses from parking in certain neighborhoods for more than 15 minutes.

Ramnarace said his vehicle meets all allowed specifications except for it being labeled as a “truck.”

“I always do what they say, 10-foot box truck, single axle, no more than 16,000 pounds in weight, this is only 5,900,” he told the outlet.

Along with the $345 fine, Ramnarace would be fined an additional $75 for each month he continues to violate the policy.

The handyman, who uses the truck to carry material for his job, hasn’t developed a backup parking plan if he caves to the city’s pressure.

“I don’t know what I have to do, they did not say where we can park it,” he added.

In February, the city updated its code for “Stopping, standing, parking, or storage prohibited in specified places.”

The updated ordinance implemented heavy restrictions on parking in both commercial and residential neighborhoods, including parking vehicles in a yard, swale or street, and only parking in driveways unless for a temporary, approved event, including “open houses” and short, personal gatherings, according to the city.

Residents fumed at the February approvals, as a crackdown on homeowners not living in a homeowner association.

“We literally can’t park our cars anywhere except for our yards, and if you don’t have a yard, you’re screwed,” Cristina Super previously told WPTV. “We also don’t live in an HOA and they’re forcing their ordinance on us.”

Bonafair, the city’s director of the public safety department, pushed back against claims it was a revenue-making system, saying it was a “public safety issue.”

Bodycam footage obtained by Fox News Digital showed Tiger Woods appearing drowsy, sweaty, and simply out of it when he was arrested on a DUI charge last Friday.

Woods crashed into another vehicle, resulting in his 2025 Range Rover to turn onto its driver’s side. Roughly two hours after escaping through the passenger side door with some assistance, he was placed in the back of a cop car.

It was not the first time Woods was placed in custody for driving under the influence, also doing so in 2017.

Unfortunately for woods, the back of a cop car was unfamiliar territory, and moments after he was placed in the car, he simply uttered three words.

“This is fun,” he groggily and sarcastically said to himself.

Woods was placed in the vehicle after failing a field sobriety test, taken after he showed “signs of impairment” and was “lethargic.” He blew “triple-zeroes” in a breathalyzer, but after he failed to submit a urine test, he was hit with another charge. Officers found two pills that were later identified as hydrocodone, a prescription opioid used for pain relief.

Woods previously told law enforcement prior to the field sobriety tests that he underwent seven back surgeries and “over 20 operations on his leg.” He told law enforcement that “I take a few” prescription medications. In 2021, he got into a wreck that resulted in serious leg injuries that kept him off the golf course for the entire year.

President Donald Trump said the five-time Masters champion “lives a life of pain.” Woods dates the mother of Trump’s granddaughter Kai, Vanessa. Vanessa is Donald Jr.’s ex-wife.

“He lives a life of pain. He has a lot of pain. He’s an amazing guy. He’s an amazing athlete. He does have pain,” Trump added Tuesday of Woods. “He doesn’t have an alcohol problem, but he does have pain,” Trump said.

Woods told officers he was “hoping to” play in the Masters, but in a statement earlier this week, Woods said he would pause his quest to get back on the golf course to “seek treatment.”

“I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in today. I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health. This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my well-being and work toward lasting recovery,” Woods said in a statement Tuesday posted to social media.

Florida and Mississippi voters will soon face new citizenship verification rules after governors signed the measures into law Wednesday, triggering at least two lawsuits in the Sunshine State.

The measures, signed by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves, are aimed at upholding election integrity as similar legislation by President Donald Trump remains stalled in Congress.

Mississippi’s measure is expected to take effect on July 1, with Florida’s law following on Jan. 1, 2027. 

Under both laws, voters will be required to provide citizenship documents — such as birth certificates, passports, or naturalization certificates — if local officials challenge their eligibility after cross-referencing databases for voter registration applications. If individuals fail to provide the required proof of citizenship after being flagged, both states are required to remove them from its voter registration rolls.

DeSantis said the Florida SAVE Act will improve the security and transparency of the state’s election system. 

“Safeguarding the electoral process to improve oversight and prevent unlawful influence has been a top priority for my administration since my first days in office,” he said in a social media post. “This legislation strengthens the security, transparency, and reliability of Florida’s election system.”

Lawsuits challenging the bill quickly followed, with one civil rights group arguing that some voters may not have the required documents and could face difficulties obtaining them.

“Many eligible voters do not have these documents and cannot obtain them for a variety of reasons—including because they were born without a birth certificate in the segregated South, because their documents were destroyed in a hurricane, or because they cannot afford the hundreds of dollars it costs to replace them,” the lawsuit filed in federal court in South Florida by the League of Women Voters of Florida stated.

Under the law, student IDs and retirement community identifications can no longer be used as polling identifications. New driver’s licenses must also reflect citizenship status starting July 2027.

Separately, the Mississippi SHIELD Act does not mandate driver’s licenses to reflect citizenship. 

However, it does require local officials registering voters to run additional citizenship checks if applicants do not provide a driver’s license number on their voter application.

Mississippi officials must also perform an annual statewide check against the federal database before a federal election to flag potential noncitizens.

“While states like California and New York flood their voter rolls with illegal aliens, Mississippi will do the opposite and defend Americans’ right to determine the outcome of elections,” Reeves said in a social media post. “We will continue to do everything in our power to make it infinitely harder – with a goal to make it impossible – to cheat in our elections!”

Civil rights group Southern Poverty Law Center noted that the measure could disenfranchise Mississippi residents who lack the proper paperwork, including women whose last names changed upon marriage.

The new laws follow similar measures signed in late March by South Dakota and Utah to strengthen proof-of-citizenship requirements for voters.

Meanwhile, Trump’s own voting legislation — the Republican‑backed SAVE America Act, which would require proof of citizenship and photo ID for federal elections — has been approved by the U.S. House but remains stalled in the Senate amid insufficient support to overcome the Democratic-led filibuster.

Meta will begin removing accounts for minors under 14 in Florida starting in May, as the tech giant moves to comply with the state’s digital crackdown.

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier joined “Fox & Friends” with the announcement, adding that non-compliant social media companies face steep fines that could snowball into billions of dollars.

“I can confirm we heard from Meta, and they have announced they will be complying with our law effective in early May,” Uthmeier said Thursday.

Florida’s law banning kids 14 and under from creating social media accounts went into effect in March. (Children who are 15-years-old need parental permission to open an account.) The law passed with bipartisan support and was signed by Gov. Ron DeSantis in 2024. It was tied up in court for two years and is now being enforced.

Uthmeier warned that companies will be fined $50,000 per violation, a penalty that could rapidly balloon if platforms fail to purge illegal accounts.

“It’s been litigated in court the last couple years, we were victorious, so now we’re [going to] go out and enforce it against companies,” Uthmeier said, adding penalties could reach the “billions.”

Uthmeier called on companies like Snapchat, Roblox, Discord, and TikTok to follow Meta’s lead. He noted that these platforms already possess the data and technology to identify the age of their users and urged them to take immediate action.

“They know that kids are suffering on these applications. They know the predators are getting to kids. So we’re encouraging companies, ‘come in, sit down. Let’s work together, let’s protect our kids at all costs,'” he said.

Officials expect hundreds of thousands of accounts to be suspended in May. Uthmeier made it clear that for companies choosing not to comply, the state’s AG office will be “seeking heavy damages” and injunctive relief in court.
