Lionel Richie knows the fame game can be a challenge, and issued a warning to rising celebrities after Chappell Roan faced backlash following a negative fan encounter.
During a sit-down with his son-in-law, Joel Madden, the Good Charlotte frontman admitted he hadn’t once heard his father-in-law complain about fans approaching him in public.
“I was invisible once,” Richie explained, before acknowledging that he has a difficult time ignoring fans. “They want to say something to you. And you can see it on their face. They want to say something. And for me to ignore them, would be the worst.”

He added, “Sometimes you meet the person you idolize the most, and you’re sorry you met them.
The “All Night Long” singer said, “I made a promise to myself – I’m never going to be that. Never.”
Richie noted that star status isn’t for everyone.
“The thing that happens a lot of times is, I tell people when they get into the business, there’s one thing you didn’t calculate,” he said. “I hope you like people.
“Because if you don’t like people, here’s how it’s going to sound. You spend the first half of your career going, ‘Look at me, look at me, look at me, look at me, look at me.’ And then you finally get famous. ‘Don’t look at me. Don’t look at me. Don’t look at me.’”
He added, “The universe gave you what you asked for. Now what is it about people that you don’t like, or you want to be famous and rich without the people? It doesn’t work like that. You have to be able to engage.”
While in town last week to perform at Lollapalooza Brazil, the “Pink Pony Club” singer allegedly directed security to scold his daughter after she spotted Chappell having breakfast at the hotel in São Paulo, according to professional soccer star Jorginho Frello.

Chappell, 28, addressed the incident on Instagram stories and later denied the fan encounter after the “very upsetting” situation caught the eye of Rio de Janeiro Mayor Eduardo Cavaliere.
In a statement shared on X, Cavaliere said that Chappell was no longer welcome to perform in his city.
“I mean that as long as I’m in charge of our city — this young lady @ChappellRoan will never perform at Todo Mundo No Rio,” he wrote in a statement translated from Portuguese. I doubt that Shakira would do that! By the way, @FrelloJorginho, your little one is already the guest of honor from the organization in May!”
The “Good Luck, Babe!” singer jumped on social media Sunday morning to explain her “half of the story” while lying in bed.
“I didn’t even see. I didn’t even see a woman and a child. No one came up to me. No one bothered me,” the musician confided in her followers while lying in bed. “I was just sitting at breakfast in my hotel, I think these people were staying at the hotel as well.”
“I did not ask the security guard to go up and talk to this mother and child. They did not come up to me. They weren’t doing anything.”

She added, “I do not hate people who are fans of my music. I do not hate children. Like, that is crazy.”
“I am sorry to the mother and child that someone was assuming something, that you would do something and that if you felt uncomfortable, that makes me really sad. You did not deserve that.”
Jorginho, a midfielder for Campeonato Brasileiro Série A club Flamengo, wrote on Instagram stories that his family went through a “very upsetting situation” involving Chappell prior to her Lollapalooza Brazil set.

He claimed online that his 11-year-old daughter was reprimanded by Chappell’s security for looking at the singer.
“The worst part is she didn’t even approach her,” he wrote. “She simply walked past the singer’s table, looked to confirm it was her, smiled, and went back to sit with her mum. She didn’t say anything, didn’t ask for anything.”

Jorghino wrote that after his daughter walked by, “A large security guard came over to their table while they were still having breakfast and began speaking in an extremely aggressive manner to both my wife and my daughter, saying that she shouldn’t allow my daughter to ‘disrespect’ or ‘harass’ other people.”

He added, “It’s sad to see this kind of treatment coming from those who should understand the importance of fans. At the end of the day, they are the ones who build all of this. I sincerely hope this serves as a moment of reflection. No one should have to go through this, especially not a child.”

How would you remake Zelda: Ocarina Of Time? (Nintendo)
The Monday letters page is appalled at the idea of another PS5 price rise, as one reader questions how a Star Fox revival could work.

Too good to be true If the rumours hadn’t come from such good sources I wouldn’t believe the news of a Zelda: Ocarina Of Time remake, simply because that seems far too straightforward and obvious. It’s exactly what fans want and that’s something Nintendo almost never does.
I would be amazingly happy if it did happen, but I’ll continue to be dubious until it gets an official annoucement. My dream is that they get Capcom’s Resident Evil remake team to make it. Can you imagine how good that would be? Especially after how well Requiem works on the Switch 2.
The worst case scenario is if they get some no-name team, like the ones that did Link’s Awakening, to make it and it’s all some semi-cheap cash-in. I would not put this past Nintendo as they don’t like spending money and you would assume the main Zelda team is busy right now.
Of course, the question is why didn’t they announce this for Zelda’s 40th anniversary, especially with console sales on the slide, but I’m sure we’ll never get any sensible explanation for that. On balance, I believe the remake is real but I don’t yet believe it’s a good idea. Onibee

Foxed again So it looks like Nintendo is pretty dead set on making a new Star Fox, huh? Even if you don’t believe the rumours, putting him front and centre in the new Mario movie is a very strange move if it’s not for a specific reason. I’m all for it but I am dubious as to what it will be and who’ll make it.
The problem with Star Fox is that the first two games – the good ones – are pretty simple updates of the old 2D shmup formula. Star Fox 64 had 3D movement with all-range mode, but it was very limited and I’m not sure how far you can push that and stay mainstream.
The reason the other games have failed is not so much that they were bad but that they diluted the formula so much it didn’t really mean anything anymore. What is Star Fox? Is it a 3D shmup or is it just any random game as long as you have the same characters in it?
That second approach has clearly not worked and I hope Nintendo realise that and take things back to basics. Starch
Rich customers I don’t even know what to think about the PlayStation 5 price rises. It says it all when I’ve forgotten whether this is the second or the third one. I do think it’s probably not the last though.
It’s pointless saying it would be madness to release the PlayStation 6 anytime soon but despite that being how everyone else sees it Sony are not going to listen. The world does not need or want an even more expensive console that does nothing except add AI slop (I agree with the Reader’s Feature that a DLSS 5 style tech is very likely).
There’s absolutely no logic to it but it’s not going to stop them because they’ve just got it into their heads that as long as some (rich) people will buy it, it doesn’t matter how many poorer people they lose along the way. Well, count me out, that’s all I can say. Gritt

Quick reminder I recently downloaded Minishoot’ Adventures and whilst I initially enjoyed the game’s exploring, I soon gave up.
There seems to be little or no ability to know where you’ve been in the game. I don’t get to play games as frequently as others so it’s often a few days or a week between sessions, so I’ve completely forgotten where I’ve been and where I’ve got to go. It’s so frustrating.
Is this a shared frustration? You alluded to it in your review, but I just find it such an impediment to my enjoyment. It doesn’t help that the regions look very samey too.
Do you have any tips to help with this? John
GC: There’s no real way round it, apart from making notes. We mentioned a feature in our re-review of Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, that reminds you of the last four things you did when you load the game up again, after stopping. That’s the sort of useful idea that is still not commonplace 22 years later and there’s no reason why.
Better late than never I’m really glad that Silent Hill f has done so well, that now it’s getting crossovers with other horror series and manga with new endings and all the rest of it.
I admit that I thought announcing all these games was a waste of time and the series was doomed but I’m happy to be wrong. I guess sometimes just throwing enough stuff at the wall until it sticks does work.
Although hopefully they have got into a grove now and Townfall will be good as well. If it is and that’s three good games in a row (maybe four with the remake of Silent Hill 1) that will be quite the comeback. Grackle
Balancing expectations With all the doom and gloom around Switch 2 sales, I think people are forgetting what Nintendo forecast when it launched the machine and actual sales figures.
When they launched the machine they predicated it would sell 15 million units by March 2026 and last official sales figures suggest it has already sold 17 million units by the end end of 2025, so it’s already best it’s own estimates by 2 million with three months to spare.
Nintendo did increase the forecast to 19 million units after strong initial sales, so if you were to take that into consideration then they only need to sell 2 million between January and March 2026. And let’s not forget that it was only in February that they kept the 19 million forecast, by which time they would know if it’s tracking to hit their targets – they can’t knowingly mislead shareholders unless they are looking to get sued.
That’s not to say the Bloomberg reporter is flat out wrong – producing 6 million units a quarter means they would be looking to sell 24 million in any given year, which is crazy numbers in the current climate. And maybe Nintendo gave themselves a reality check that they are producing more than they need to, rather than suggest the Switch 2 is a sales flop.
Also, with the EU stating electronic devices need to have user replaceable battery going forward that could be another factor to slow down production of current model, to move capacity over to a revised model.
Basically, not everything needs to be doom and gloom all the time, and it’s OK to take reports with a pinch of salt if they are not backed by hard data.
Either way we find out in a few weeks when the next set of financial results are released (and maybe I’ll have custard on my face). Anon
GC: It was Nintendo’s own president that admitted Christmas sales in the West had been ‘slightly weaker’ than expected. The question isn’t what’s happening but how serious a problem it is for Nintendo – and you’re right that, at the moment, the answer is probably not much at all.
The Elder Scrolls 6: Bohemia For anyone hankering after a new Elder Scrolls game can I recommend Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.
Just picked it up in the PSN sale and while it starts out pretty difficult, I’m really enjoying the first person exploration and levelling up by doing. Definitely worth a look. Matt (he_who_runs_away – PSN ID)

Life is strained In addition to Shahzaib Sadiq’s concern regarding the quality of Life Is Strange: Reunion, he said, ‘but if it is another disappointment from Deck Nine, that is the final nail in the coffin.’
Sadly, I think the damage has already been done, starting with Double Exposure.
I’ve written in to the Inbox three times regarding my love for Life Is Strange, Before The Storm, and True Colors but in one of those emails, I expressed my own worries around the time Double Exposure was being revealed officially.
I said having Max as the main protagonist – something some of the fans wanted, but not me – was probably a bad idea, as I felt it was watering down and taking away the magic of what we loved of the first game, à la Ellie in The Last Of Us. And now they’ve bought back Chloe, which looks like they have either run out of ideas or simply given in to fan demand, which in turn may leave a permanent bad mark on their character.
The series now appears to be reliant on these two fan favourites, that they are now at risk of being overexposed, if you will.
I also mentioned in one of the aforementioned emails that some story characters are best confined to the one game/film they originated in, because actually sometimes, the wonder and speculation of what happened to them is better than what we actually know due to official canon.
I never played Double Exposure and just won’t ever, because I feel this game series has become a Donnie Darko/Ginger Snaps type thing where the first film was great but subsequent films told a story no one wanted to hear or cared for in the first place.
I sometimes feel we gamers don’t really know what we want… LeeDappa

Novak, 93, confessed that casting Sweeney, 28, to play the iconic actress in her upcoming biopic, “Scandalous!” was “totally wrong.”
“I would never have approved,” Novak recently told The Times, before adding that the “Euphoria” star “sticks out so much above the waist.”

Among the myriad issues with the film, Novak shared concerns that the movie would hyper-focus on the sexual side of her relationship with Sammy Davis, Jr., despite the pair having “so much in common” outside physical attraction.
“There’s no way it wouldn’t be a sexual relationship because Sydney Sweeney looks sexy all the time,” Novak said. “She was totally wrong to play me.”
Sweeney’s representatives did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

Colman Domingo’s directorial debut focuses on Novak’s once controversial relationship with Sammy Davis, Jr., a romance Novak believed was perfectly normal.
“I don’t think the relationship was scandalous,” the 92-year-old actress told The Guardian last year.
“He’s somebody I really cared about,” Novak added. “We had so much in common, including that need to be accepted for who we are and what we do, rather than how we look. But I’m concerned they’re going to make it all sexual reasons.”

Novak’s longtime manager, Sue Cameron, previously explained the “Vertigo” star never intended to marry at the time she met Davis Jr.

“Kim and I have been aware of at least four unauthorized and unapproved projects in development about the Kim Novak and Sammy Davis affair,” Cameron told People.
“She never wanted to get married back then — to anyone. It was a romance based on love, respect, the things they shared in common,” Cameron added. “Kim and Sammy met at a party and recognized they were both rebels and outsiders. They both had strong ties to their families and spent time with close relatives in both Hollywood and Chicago. In truth, she hoped their relationship could help break down people’s racial bias.”

Novak also opened up about her “misunderstood” relationship with Davis Jr. in a 2023 interview with Fox News Digital.
“I loved him,” she recalled at the time. “He was a person that had a youthful innocence about him. Now, I know no one ever saw him that way, but I did. He had a boyish quality, and I loved that about him.”

“When I was a child, my very first boyfriend was Mexican. He was an altar boy at my church. He was my first love. So, I never thought of race,” Novak said. “However, the studio was very much upset by it. I resisted because I didn’t believe that was correct. While people were feeling a certain way, I also felt people needed to change. And I felt that by seeing Sammy and Sammy seeing me, that we could help people understand and accept interracial relationships of any kind.”
She continued, “I was feeling like I was on the edge of being able to help people to be more accepting of all races and relationships of all kinds. I felt I was doing the right thing by doing that. I felt that Sammy and I were at the start of helping people understand that this is not wrong. A man is a man, no matter what skin color he has. A woman is a woman, no matter what skin color she has.”

In Hollywood, Gina Gershon has always trusted her gut.
Early in her career, the actress was offered a role in “Friday the 13th Part 2,” one she ultimately passed on after discovering she would be topless. Gershon has a new memoir out, “AlphaPussy: How I Survived the Valley and Learned to Love My Boobs,” chronicling her rise to stardom and the many famous faces she met along the way.
“I was offered a lead in that movie,” Gershon told Fox News Digital. “And, of course, I was so excited to act in movies, but it definitely felt kind of exploitative to me and a little silly that right before she gets killed, her top has to come off.”

In the book, Gershon wrote, “At the time, those kinds of slasher movies always had girls dying with their breasts exposed. My character would be killed by a stake through the heart, blood dripping down her t–s. That seemed pretty lame to me: exploitation 101.”
Gershon turned to her father for advice.

“Listen, I was really lucky that I had a father who really taught me how to believe in my own decisions,” she told Fox News Digital. “It wasn’t like I had to rebel against my family. I remember asking him about it, thinking he was going to say, ‘No daughter of mine is going to do that!’ And he said, ‘It’s your body. If you’re comfortable with it, I’m comfortable with it.’”

“When I sat and thought about it, I just thought, ‘I don’t really want to do this,’” she shared. “I wasn’t comfortable with it. It seemed silly to me. Not that I had anything against nudity — I grew up on European films — but only if it makes sense for the character and the story. But when it just seems silly, I don’t know. It just felt like it was something that wasn’t for me.”
After speaking with her father, Gershon turned down the role.

“My dad may have died too soon, but he taught me many valuable lessons in the 19 years I had with him,” Gershon wrote. “Mainly, he taught me to trust myself in making my own decisions.”

“This theme of trusting my gut kept showing up in my life,” she added.
It’s key advice that stayed with Gershon over the years, including when she starred in 1995’s “Showgirls.” The film, directed by Paul Verhoeven, follows the rise and moral unraveling of a young dancer. It also starred “Saved by the Bell” alum Elizabeth Berkley.

Gershon admitted in the book that she and Verhoeven fought “constantly” over creative differences involving her character, Cristal Connors.

“I think Paul secretly enjoyed it when we argued about the most mundane things,” she wrote. “Sometimes I suspected he was throwing things out there just to see if he could get a rise out of me. Or maybe not. Maybe it was annoying that I didn’t just roll over and do what he asked.
“Whatever the case, our battles were becoming exhausting. And let me say this: I liked Paul. A lot! Especially when we weren’t locked in some game of control. He is a very smart, very interesting guy. A mathematician and theologian. I really enjoyed our chats about religion and philosophy.”

“I was in the hair and makeup trailer once again, waiting for my team to transform me, when Paul came in and said without any warning, ‘In today’s scene, I think it would be good if you showed your vagina,’” she wrote. “Whoa, that came out of the f—–g blue. Just that morning, I’d made a deal with myself that, no matter what, I would avoid all arguments that day. Oh boy, this one was going to be a doozy.

“’Why?’ I asked. And in my most sincere, calm-actress voice, without trying to provoke or sound like an a—–e, I continued, ‘I mean, what’s the reason Cristal would do that? I’m open to anything as long as it makes sense. How does it reveal my character? How does it move the story forward?’”

In her memoir, Gina Gershon described how she would spar with director Paul Verhoeven on the set of 1995’s “Showgirls.”(TCD/Prod.DB/ALAMY)
The filmmaker pointed out that Berkley would be doing so and that Sharon Stone had also taken on an infamous scene in his previous film, “Basic Instinct.”
Gershon wrote that she kept calm, noting that her contract didn’t require that level of nudity for the role. To avoid a tug-of-war over the scene, she defused the situation by proposing an exaggerated alternative. It prompted the director to drop the idea and proceed with the scene as originally written.

“To my utter relief, Paul slowly backed out of my trailer, looking at me like I was bonkers, and said, ‘No, it’s OK, we will do the scene as written. Forget I said anything,’” she wrote. “He never mentioned my vagina again.”

In response, a spokesperson for Verhoeven told Fox News Digital, “Mr. Verhoeven has not read the memoir, and has no comment.”
“I think the real challenge was that I went into ‘Showgirls’ thinking it was a completely different sort of movie,” Gershon explained to Fox News Digital.

“It was very serious, and I loved the part. It was very operatic in my mind. And then when I got to the set, I realized it was a completely different film from what I had envisioned. So I think the biggest challenge was to adjust to what it was and to figure out a way to play it that made sense in the environment.”

Despite widespread attention over its NC-17 rating and explicit content, the film underperformed at the box office, People magazine reported. According to the outlet, “Showgirls” made less than its $45 million budget and was widely panned by critics.

“’Showgirls’ has been such an interesting journey,” Gershon told Fox News Digital. “It’s just funny to me how when it came out, so many journalists jumped on the bandwagon of, ‘This movie is horrible.’ They really ripped it apart.”
“Thankfully, I kind of came out of it fairly unscathed, but still, it’s not a good feeling,” she reflected. “You want the whole movie to do well. And I actually think it could have done well. I just thought the marketing was silly, and it never should have been [rated] NC-17 to begin with. That’s a whole other conversation.”

“Now, some of those journalists, it’s like the first question they want to talk about. ‘Let’s talk about ‘Showgirls.’ It’s such a cult classic!'” she laughed. “All of a sudden, people who hated it love it now. I’m happy it’s brought so many people hours of pleasure. It really taught me not to pay too much attention to reviews. You can’t really listen to critics so much. That was my big lesson out of that.”

Miss Grand Thailand pageant contestant had an unforgettable malfunction while on stage.
During the preliminary stages of the pageant March 25 in Bangkok, 18-year-old contestant Kamolwan Chanago’s veneers began to fall out of her mouth as she was introducing herself to the judges and those at home.
As she was delivering her introduction, Chanago’s speech became noticeably less clear as her false teeth fell out and affected her pronunciation.
Chanago didn’t let the mishap fluster her, as she turned her back to the audience to adjust her veneers before quickly turning back around and giving the camera her best model face.
She then proceeded to walk down the runway and pose in her sparkly nude sheer dress and fluffy pink shawl, as the crowd cheered her on.

MISS UNIVERSE CONTESTANT FALLS OFF STAGE AS RIGGING ALLEGATIONS ROCK COMPETITION
“During her on-stage introduction, Kamolwan Chanago experienced a minor and unexpected incident in which her veneer teeth became dislodged,” a spokesperson for Miss Grand International told People magazine.
They continued: “She handled the situation with professionalism and composure, and the event continued smoothly without disruption. We are proud of her confidence and stage presence throughout the competition.”
The teen quickly composed herself and adjusted her veneers.(ViralPress)
According to The Associated Press, a spectator at the event said “she handled this better than most of us handle a bad hair day,” before questioning if this might be “the most iconic pageant moment ever.”
A contestant’s appearance on stage is a key element in winning over the judges, and while the latest Miss America winner, Cassie Donegan, managed to win over the judges, viewers at home flooded social media with harsh critiques, arguing her makeup looked heavy and harsh.

“The reality is, when something big happens like this, there are going to be many opinions,” Donegan told Fox News Digital in September 2025 regarding the criticism.
“Everyone has the right to their own opinion, especially in such a public forum like the internet,” she continued. “Yes, there is that negativity out there, and that is their truth. They are allowed to have that opinion, and I respect that entirely. But I’m surrounded by so much love and so much support and so many people who are holding me up … I’m just not allowing [their negativity] to cloud the really incredible thing that’s happening.”

Donegan added that while “it’s hard not to open my phone” and see what people have to say, she has learned that other people’s opinion of her might be “valid because that is their truth, but it doesn’t mean that it’s my opinion of me.”
As Miss America, Donegan explained, rather than focusing on the negativity, she hopes to be a role model for young girls, saying she wants them to know she is “not much different than you are right now, and you are so capable of doing anything you want to do.”

“I want them to believe in themselves, because if they don’t, no one else will,” the pageant winner said. “Empowerment really comes from within. For The X-Files, he has stepped into the lead male role but is taking on a brand-new character alongside Deadwyler, rather than them playing Fox Mulder and Dana Scully again, as previously portrayed by David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson.
The new show’s official description reads: ‘Two highly decorated but vastly different FBI agents form an unlikely bond when they are assigned to a long-shuttered division devoted to cases involving unexplained phenomena.’

This premise differs slightly from the original show, which debuted in 1993, as Anderson’s Scully was assigned to debunk the work of extraterrestrial believer Mulder.
It initially ran for nine seasons and spawned two spin-off movies, the most recent of which was 2008’s The X-Files: I Want to Believe, released six years after the show ended.
Anderson and Duchovny then later returned for a six-episode tenth season in 2016.
The Crown and The Fall star Anderson also hinted at a possible return when she divulged to a journalist, as per The Hollywood Reporter, that she had read the new script from Coogler, urging fans to ‘have an open mind and give it a chance because it’s going to be f**king cool’.
While Coogler is writing and directing the pilot episode, fresh off the back of his Academy Award win for best original screenplay, Jennifer Yale will serve as showrunner.

The Black Panther filmmaker will also serve as excutive producer alongside his Sev Ohanian and wife Zinzi Coogler, his partners at Proximity Media, and The X-Files’ original creator and showrunner Chris Carter.
Deadwyler, who was Bafta-nominated for her turn in the film Till, previously worked with Patel on the 2021 post-apocalyptic HBO miniseries Station Eleven, for which he picked up an Emmy Award nomination for playing the conscientious Jeevan Chaudhary

Like father, like son — and a bodybuilding legacy in the making.
Arnold Schwarzenegger was spotted stepping back into coach mode as he trained his son, Joseph Baena, ahead of his first bodybuilding competition — signaling the next generation may be ready to carry the torch.
The seven-time Mr. Olympia winner, 78, was seen working closely with Baena, 28, inside the iconic Gold’s Gym in Venice Beach, California, where the bodybuilding legend once built his empire.

But this time, Schwarzenegger wasn’t the one posing under pressure — he was fine-tuning every detail from the sidelines.
In the video obtained by Fox News Digital, the “Terminator” star carefully adjusted Baena’s positioning, ensuring each muscle hit just right.

After a session of pumping iron, Baena went shirtless to show off his increasingly sculpted physique, flexing his biceps as his father corrected his angles and form — even helping him lock in one of Schwarzenegger’s signature poses.

Onlookers quickly gathered as the pair moved through each pose with precision, drawing a crowd inside the gym famously dubbed “the mecca of bodybuilding.”
The “Dancing with the Stars” alum has recently showed off his fit physique and fitness routines in behind-the-scenes training videos on his social media.

Baena has been carving out his own path — from acting roles, including the 2024 action thriller “Gunner,” to landing a Men’s Health cover — while navigating inevitable comparisons to his father.
“It’s been a huge growth year of me finding out who I am and really being secure… confident… no matter what the challenges are, what the comparisons are,” Baena previously told Fox News Digital.

Still, he’s acknowledged the pressure that comes with the name.
“The message that I wanted to get across was, there’s a lot of people out there with very accomplished parents… and it’s scary. It’s scary to get compared to these giants, and to have the feeling like you need to live up to these expectations.”

Adam Carolla thinks some people simply pay President Donald Trump too much mind.
The comedian spoke about certain public figures’ apparent fixation on Trump during a conversation with Dr. Drew Pinsky on a recent episode of “The Adam & Dr. Drew Show,” saying that some politicians and celebrities have given up too much just to argue with the president.
“You’re a politician, and you think, ‘I’m going to make change, and I’m going to stand up for this and I’m going to fix that,’ and all you’re doing is fighting with Trump,” he said.

“That’s all you do. Gavin Newsom, Karen Bass – their full-time job is just fighting Trump … it’s no longer what they want to do, it’s ‘what does Trump want to do?’, then ‘I’m going to go fight Trump.'”
Pinsky agreed, and Carolla continued, “Rosie O’Donnell, you wanted to do comedy at some point, right? Now you sit and you fight Trump. And Kathy Griffin, you wanted to do comedy, and you both could do it at a high level, but you threw it all away to fight Trump. Could you imagine?”

The “Man Show” host remarked, “It’s like, I didn’t like Obama, but I didn’t give up on life to fight Obama.”
Pinsky said that the kinds of people Carolla mentioned might not have a person in their lives who would say, “Hey, hey, what are you doing?” because otherwise, he suggested, “it would be hard to keep doing it month after month.”

Carolla theorized that that kind of person “would be expelled from that person’s life if they started asking questions.”
He imagined a conversation between O’Donnell and this kind of friend, in which the theoretical friend asks O’Donnell what she has planned for the day, and she answers, “I’m going to go hit my vlog and do a tirade against Trump.”

“How about we play pickleball instead?” he imagined the friend saying, then, as O’Donnell, responded, “Get out of here.”
“It’s got to be so unhealthy, unpleasant,” Pinsky said. “But it must be rewarding in some way because they keep doing it, right? It gives them meaning.”
Carolla went on to make an argument that because comedians use their brains instead of their brawn, they can sometimes find their thoughts going in “a bad direction.”
“If you’re a comedian, and you have some downtime, and you’re no longer hitting the boards, you know what I mean?” he said. “You got money in the bank, and you can kind of have your afternoons off, and you don’t need to go out and hit mics that night, then that mind will start wandering on you.”

He continued, “What you need to do at that point is go build a gazebo. You need to get up and get out … you need a project.”
Carolla explained, “When the brain is not constantly working in some sort of support of some goal … it starts turning. And that’s a problem.”
O’Donnell has consistently spoken out against Trump on social media and in interviews she’s given after moving from the U.S. to Ireland following the 2024 presidential election.

She’s demanded his removal from office numerous times, and in a 2025 interview, she admitted that she’d promised her therapist she’d quit making posts about Trump on social media, but she wasn’t able to follow through.
Griffin recently declared herself “uncanceled” nearly 10 years after creating a firestorm when she shared a photo of herself holding a bloody mask designed to look like Trump’s head.

Actor Andrew Garfield is the latest celebrity to speak out against writer J.K. Rowling, arguing that watching the “Harry Potter” films is now “controversial.”
Rowling has faced consistent criticism for her views on biological sex, frequently calling for the exclusion of transgender women from girls and women’s sports.
During a radio interview, the actor best known for playing “Spider-Man” did not mention Rowling by name, instead referring to her as “she that shall remain nameless” and accusing her of supporting “inhumane” causes.
Garfield said in a Hits Radio interview, reported by Deadline, that he watched the films for the first time recently but is aware it is problematic to support them.
“I know it’s, like, controversial. And, like, we shouldn’t be, you know, putting money in the pocket of inhumane legislation right now through she that shall remain nameless,” Garfield said, referencing Voldemort, the “Harry Potter” villain known as “He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named.”

“But the soul and the spirit of a lot of the essence of the themes of those films and the kids are so good,” he added.
Rowling has donated to campaign group For Women Scotland, which legally challenged how the word “woman” is defined by law in the United Kingdom. In 2025, the U.K. Supreme Court ruled the legal definition of a woman is based on biological sex.
The author also recently praised the International Olympic Committee’s decision to ban transgender women from competing in women’s sports.
“Today’s ruling by the IOC means a welcome return to fair sport for women and girls, but I’ll never forget the scandal of Paris 2024, when people who consider themselves supremely virtuous and progressive publicly cheered on men punching women,” she wrote on X.

Garfield isn’t the first celebrity to publicly speak out against Rowling. Daniel Radcliffe, who played Harry Potter in the original films, and his co-star, Emma Watson, who played Hermione Granger, have both condemned Rowling’s opinions.
Actor John Lithgow considered walking away from his role as Dumbledore in the HBO adaptation of the “Harry Potter” books amid backlash to Rowling’s comments, according to The New York Times. He ultimately remained in the role and appeared in a new trailer released this week.

He continued working onscreen, guest-starring on such classic series as The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air alongside Will Smith.
His career spanned five decades, with his final credit appearing in the 2015 film Bone Tomahawk.
