Dusan Lajovic, the 35-year-old World No. 116 from Serbia, hasn’t been at his best so far in the 2026 tennis season, but has picked up a few promising wins. The former No. 23 reached the quarterfinals of the Canberra Challenger before failing to qualify for the main draw at the Australian Open.

Next, at the Concepcion Challenger, Lajovic was ousted in the second round. His most recent campaign at the ATP 500 Rio Open saw him qualify for the main draw, where he upset No. 7 seed Daniel Altmaier in the first round. The Serb also won the first set of his second-round match against former Wimbledon runner-up Matteo Berrettini, but the Italian eventually turned things around in his favor.

Meanwhile, Yannick Hanfmann’s season has been comparatively worse, with the 34-year-old German failing to qualify for the Brisbane main draw before registering a second-round loss in Melbourne to World No. 1 and eventual champion Carlos Alcaraz. Two second-round exits followed at the Manama Challenger and the Rio Open.

Predicted winner: Dusan Lajovic

2. Nicolas Jarry vs Dino Prizmic

Nicolas Jarry, a former World No. 16 currently ranked 155, will be the crowd favorite in his first-round outing at the 2026 Chile Open against 20-year-old Dino Prizmic from Croatia. Jarry received a wildcard entry into the Santiago main draw.

So far this year, the 30-year-old Chilean has been a mere shadow of the player he once was. The three-time career singles titlist is yet to pick up a win in 2026, having lost all his first-round matches spanning the Canberra Challenger, Australian Open qualifying and Rio Open qualifying.

Prizmic’s form on the other hand, has been significantly better. The Croat, who shot to prominence after giving Novak Djokovic a run for his money at the 2024 Australian Open, qualified for the Melbourne main draw this year before suffering a first-round loss. He also qualified for the main draw in Rio, but once more, he failed to clear the first round. Prizmic had to make his way through the qualifying rounds at Santiago as well.

Predicted winner: Dino Prizmic
