Chisora delivers disturbing ‘I’m willing to die’ claim before Wilder fight

Deontay Wilder versus Derek Chisora will see both heavyweights put their bodies on the line for potentially the final time in their professional boxing careers

Derek Chisora has declared he is prepared to leave boxing in a coffin following his final bout against Deontay Wilder.

The 42-year-old heavyweight says he will hang up his gloves after facing Wilder, 40, with both fighters reaching their 50th professional contest in London. The British boxer, who wore a Tyson Fury mask during his last face-off with his opponent, insisted he is ready to put everything on the line in the ring.

Chisora, who will benefit from a three-stone weight advantage, said: “He knows what time it is; when I strap up the boots, and I strap up the gloves, there is only one thing for it: F*** it, let’s go.

“There’s no point sugarcoating it; I know this is going to be an amazing fight, and all I can say is I am willing to die in the ring. He’s been there with Tyson Fury, but he hasn’t been there for a while.”

Wilder suffered two stoppage defeats to Fury as his dominant spell as world champion came to a sudden stop. The American subsequently alleged his bitter opponent had tampered with his gloves.

Another dispute has marred this latest clash. Wilder expressed dissatisfaction with the gloves supplied, and the matter remained unresolved as he and Chisora completed their weigh-in.

Wilder said: “It was my issue, I have broken my hands so many times and had so many surgeries. We had an issue with the gloves being too tight on my hands. I just want to be comfortable in the ring and for there to be no excuses.”

Both fighters have predicted a swift conclusion at the O2 Arena and another knockout added to their resume. “Derek brings passion, but I bring a power that ends bloodlines,” Wilder declared.

“Derek is coming to fight, but I am coming with a detonation And it is going to end with an explosion.”

“I don’t want you guys to be mistaken with us, and with the friendship that has been going on. It is going to be live, it is going to be real.

“I can’t wait for it. And I’m going to tell Derek, I hope he brings his heart because I’m gonna take that too.”

Chisora was equally bullish, saying: “We might not even see round two. The way I am feeling right now, I am so fit and so ready for this fight that it might not see round two. Maybe I might even, so f*** it, let’s go.”
