Man City vs Arsenal Carabao Cup final tickets still on sale

Manchester City fans can book their seat at Wembley Stadium as Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta go head-to-head in their first shot at silverware this season.

Manchester City fans can still secure a seat at Wembley for the Carabao Cup final. On Sunday (March 22), the Blues will face their Premier League rivals in their first shot at silverware this season, and fans can book last-minute tickets today.

Pep Guardiola’s side may be trailing Arsenal in the league, but they could end the Gunners’ hopes of a historic quadruple with a win at Wembley. The two teams drew 1-1 when they last met in September, but a lot has happened since then, with City strengthening their squad with new signings like Antoine Semenyo and Marc Guéhi.

Man City enjoyed an incredible run of four straight League Cup wins from 2018 to 2021 and could lift the trophy for a ninth time should they beat Arsenal on Sunday. The club’s own allocation of tickets has sold out, but there are still plenty available from other official channels like Seat Unique, where fans can book a range of luxury Carabao Cup Final VIP and hospitality packages.

They don’t come cheap, with prices starting at £1,399 per person for a Taphouse Social – Manchester City ticket, but this is touted as ‘the ultimate luxury matchday experience’. Included in the price is premium seating on Level Two, Wembley’s middle tier with padded seats offering stellar views of the pitch.

Guests will have access to the stadium 2.5 hours before kick-off, when they can enjoy the Taphouse Social, Wembley’s new premium area full of exclusive food and drink outlets. This includes a bar with 48 taps pouring beers, wine, cocktails, spirits and soft drinks, plus pies and pastries from Taphouse Bites.

Fans can access Taphouse Social on two sides of the stadium – West and East – but only tickets to the dedicated Man City area are available. However, fans should note the stadium will close one hour after the final whistle.

Seat Unique’s other VIP package is the luxury Bobby Moore Lounge at £3,499 per person. This includes unrivalled premium seating on the halfway line, offering ‘the very best views of the match’ close to the dugout and trophy route.

The exclusive Bobby Moore lounge is said to be one of Wembley’s ‘finest hospitality lounges’. A ticket provides a seat at a shared table for up to three hours before kick-off and an hour after the match.

Here, guests can enjoy Canapés on arrival and unlimited Laurent Perrier Champagne both pre and post-match. Perhaps more importantly, a ticket includes a complimentary bar of beers, fine wines, spirits and soft drinks.

As well as a four-course meal and cheeseboard served after the game.

Similar packages may be available directly from Wembley Stadium. With supporters able to enquire via this online form.

For those watching at home, the Carabao Cup final will be shown live on ITV and Sky Sports. Kick-off is at 4.30pm on Sunday, March 22.

What Pep Guardiola did vs Real Madrid made clear Man City point

Manchester City were knocked out of the Champions League on Wednesday night and they have another huge game coming up this weekend.

It might just be the biggest compliment Pep Guardiola can ever hand down to Arsenal, while also offering a clear indication of the sheer magnitude of this weekend’s Carabao Cup final between Manchester City and their biggest rivals.

When a team needs three goals just to draw level on aggregate with Real Madrid in the Champions League, having Erling Haaland in it has to be a given.

Which is just the scenario Guardiola and City faced at the Etihad this week. So what did Guardiola do? He hauled off the most lethal forward in world football – with less than an hour of the second leg gone.

Some would regard this as professional suicide on Guardiola’s behalf. Waving the white flag in the direction of those in black from Madrid.

Haaland had just scored his 30th goal of the season in all competitions to offer his side a glimmer of hope that some sort of famous fightback could happen. He had looked dangerous throughout the game. He had appeared to have found some of his form again following a difficult few weeks.

But Guardiola has never been afraid to make the kind of decisions that sometimes baffle people, but in his own head, make complete sense. The Catalan never stops thinking about the future. And he knows City’s next game could well go on to define his club’s entire season. A season which is now in serious danger of imploding.

Watching his players get run ragged by Real (again) was far from the ideal preparation for Sunday’s showdown with Arsenal at Wembley. So Guardiola decided to sacrifice Haaland.

In the decade Guardiola has presided over almost constant success in Manchester, the Carabao Cup has felt like nothing more than a bit of gloss added to the footballing masterpiece he has painted. Guardiola wasn’t lured from Bayern Munich to win League Cups, but league titles and Champions League crowns. And he did.

But getting his hands on the least significant of the four trophies available to Guardiola is now crucial. City failed to win silverware last season and are now out of Europe. They also need an Arsenal collapse to make their way back into the title race.

Back-to-back campaigns without a single trophy is as unimaginable as it would be unacceptable. Not least considering Liverpool’s demise.

Guardiola’s legacy will never be touched, but his reputation could be tarnished. Lose to Arsenal this weekend and Guardiola could be left with just the FA Cup to play for.

So all those connected with City can do now is sit back and hope his decision, where Haaland is concerned, was the right one.

Five Pep Guardiola replacements Man City could eye as boss to decide on future

Pep Guardiola is reportedly set to consider his long-term future at Manchester City after the Carabao Cup final with five potential successors identified

Pep Guardiola is reportedly set to contemplate his long-term future at Manchester City following the upcoming Carabao Cup final this weekend. The Blues will face off against Arsenal at Wembley Stadium in a bid for silverware on Sunday.

This crucial match comes hot on the heels of City’s Champions League exit, having been defeated 5-1 on aggregate by Real Madrid in the round of 16. Guardiola’s team suffered a 3-0 loss at the Bernabeu last week and were dealt a further blow when Bernardo Silva was sent off early in the return leg at the Etihad Stadium.

Guardiola reportedly plans to take some time out immediately after the Carabao Cup final to consider what’s best for both him and the club. The 55-year-old’s current contract extends until 2027, following an extension signed in November 2024.

Despite the length of his contract, speculation about Guardiola’s future has been rife. Former Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca is among those rumoured to be in the running as a potential successor when Guardiola eventually steps down. The Manchester Evening News takes a look at five managers who could potentially replace him.

Enzo Maresca

The former Chelsea manager was linked with the City job during his tenure at Stamford Bridge. The Italian is currently without a club after parting ways with the west London side in January.

During his 18-month tenure, Maresca secured the Europa Conference League and Club World Cup with Chelsea. Maresca has had two previous stints with City, first overseeing the Elite Development squad and subsequently returning as a first-team assistant in 2022.

He was linked with the City position towards the conclusion of his Chelsea tenure and is understood to have held discussions with the club. The 46-year-old is presently regarded as the bookmakers’ frontrunner to take over from Guardiola.

Luis Enrique

Luis Enrique is the most decorated manager on this list. The 55-year-old has already followed in Guardiola’s footsteps once during his career, when he took over from him as Barcelona B boss in 2008.

Following periods at Roma and Celta Vigo, Enrique became the first-team manager at the Camp Nou and guided the Catalan side to two La Liga titles and Champions League success in 2015. Two periods in charge of Spain followed but it is his achievements at Paris Saint-Germain that are currently earning recognition.

Enrique was the manager who eventually delivered PSG a Champions League trophy last season. Like Guardiola, his contract is set to expire in 2027, though there have been suggestions of a potential extension.

Xabi Alonso

The former Liverpool midfielder is currently available after leaving Real Madrid in January. Alonso’s earlier achievements at Bayer Leverkusen showcased his managerial credentials. Guardiola initially brought Alonso to Germany when he signed him for Bayern Munich in 2014.

Following his retirement from playing, the 44-year-old spent several years coaching youth teams before taking charge at Leverkusen in 2022. During his second campaign, Alonso guided the club to their maiden Bundesliga championship, going undefeated throughout the league season, whilst also securing the 2024 DFB-Pokal.

Vincent Kompany

A City icon, Kompany is now thriving in management. Questions were asked when the former Burnley manager replaced Thomas Tuchel at Bayern Munich in 2024, though the Belgian rose to the challenge, claiming the Bundesliga last term.

Kompany featured under Guardiola for three seasons during the latter stages of his City playing days and would probably embrace a sentimental return to the club at some point. Nevertheless, the Bayern manager penned a contract extension until 2029 in October.

Pep Lijnders

An unconventional choice for City. The former Liverpool assistant joined Guardiola’s backroom team in June 2025. Lijnders collaborated with Jurgen Klopp throughout much of his spell at Anfield.

He has previously held two managerial positions with NEC Nijmegen and Red Bull Salzburg, respectively. The blueprint for Guardiola being replaced by his assistant was established by the late Tito Vilanova at Barcelona in 2012.

Man City have perfect ‘cure’ for Real Madrid woe as Arsenal loom

Manchester City were beaten by Real Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday night and now face Arsenal in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley on Sunday.

Jeremy Doku has challenged Manchester City to respond to their Champions League heartache in perfect fashion by lifting the Carabao Cup this weekend.

City were beaten 2-1 by Real Madrid on Tuesday night having been reduced to 10 men midway through the first half when Bernardo Silva was sent off for handball on the line. Vinicius Jr converted the penalty and, after Erling Haaland levelled before the break, the Brazilian added a stoppage time second for the visitors to complete a 5-1 aggregate success.

It means City’s European campaign is over for another season, and, with their Premier League chances hanging by a thread given Arsenal’s nine-point lead at the top, the chance to beat the Gunners and lift the first silverware of the campaign at Wembley on Sunday is a huge opportunity.

“That is a good cure to this game,” said Doku. “We will do everything to win that game.

“There is still a lot to play for, there is still three trophies to win. We do that, it is going to be a great season still. Of course we are disappointed with the Champions League, it is always a nice trophy to have but there are some lessons to take out of these two games. We recover well and look forward to the next games that we have.”

The message from the City camp after the midweek defeat to Real was one of pride, with the Blues producing a positive performance in the second leg despite the early red card. And Doku feels the tie will stand City in good stead for the future.

“We played well, 10 against 11, 11 against 11, we did well and created chances. I feel like if we play like that every game you will put many teams in trouble. There are some good things to take out of this game for the next one.

“We can be proud of our performance, playing against a big team like that 10 against 11 and still performing like we did, still putting them into trouble – not every team can do it.

“Unfortunately we didn’t win, but we can look each other in the eyes and be proud of each other. We will recover now, try and win the game on Sunday and be in the Champions League for next season.”

When Man United’s JJ Gabriel needs to score to break Max Dowman record

JJ Gabriel is one of the brightest prospects at Manchester United and all eyes will be on him if he makes his senior debut next season after a superb campaign with the Under-18s

Arsenal academy sensation Max Dowman made history on Saturday night as he became the youngest ever goalscorer in Premier League history in the Gunners’ 2-0 lead over Everton.

The midfielder came off the bench and at 16 years and 73 days and wrote his name into the history books. He broke the record previously held by former Toffees striker James Vaughan, who was 16 years and 270 days old when he scored against Crystal Palace in 2005.

This season, Dowman has become the youngest player ever to play in the Champions League, the youngest player to start a match for Arsenal and the youngest player to feature for the Gunners in the FA Cup.

Dowman’s heroics over the weekend have resulted in fans talking up potential names who could follow the 16-year-old and break the record. As expected, Manchester United’s JJ Gabriel is one player with huge excitement around him.

Gabriel, 15, is one of the most exciting youngsters at Carrington after his incredible season with the Under-18s. After being called-up to first-team training by Ruben Amorim earlier this season, the forward was included by Michael Carrick in the preparations for this weekend’s clash with Aston Villa.

However, the talented teenager will have to wait until he makes his senior debut given he is ineligible to play Premier League or Premier League 2 football until next season. Rules mean that because he was 14 when the current campaign started, he is not permitted to make an appearance.

Gabriel has scored 20 goals in 22 games for Darren Fletcher’s Under-18s this season, with him tipped to become a success at senior level. While nobody will want to pile the pressure on the youngster, there is a date that he will have to score by in the Premier League to overtake Dowman.

With him turning 16 on October 5 this year, the 15-year-old will have until December 19 to find the back of the net in the Premier League to become the youngest-ever goalscorer.

United interim head coach Carrick revealed he was well-aware of Gabriel’s talent, but seemed keen to play down the hype around him. “He’s doing really well, JJ,” he said.

“We’ve got some really good young players in the academy and we try and get the younger players up as much as we can. We’re always trying to give that exposure to the players to come and train and feel it. JJ is a big talent, it’s pretty obvious to know that, and he’s had a really good season for the under-18s.

“We obviously think an awful lot of him, but patience is important in managing everything that comes with that and working with him in development as we do with all the different age groups and younger players and picking the right moment to step up, picking the moment to leave them in a certain place and ups and downs.

“When he’s trained, he’s done well, as you’d expect, and it’s good to have the younger players come up with us.”

Man City have been forced to accept new reality despite Pep Guardiola u-turn

Manchester City’s Premier League title ambitions were dealt a significant blow as Pep Guardiola’s side were held to a 1-1 draw at West Ham as Arsenal moved nine points clear

For the second game in succession Manchester City dropped points against a side fighting relegation.

The Blues have surrendered leads three times across those matches with Nottingham Forest and West Ham United. It has surely extinguished the title hopes. Arsenal are nine clear and although City have a game in hand and the Gunners have to come to the Etihad, the gap looks ominous and the Blues don’t quite look capable of reeling off victory after victory to capitalise if Mikel Arteta’s side do slip up.

City still have plenty to play for, even if glory in the Premier League and Champions League now looks set to elude them. The Blues are a week out from a Carabao Cup final that could yield silverware as well as offering a glimmer in the title race given the psychological questions a Wembley win would ask of Arsenal. Liverpool then visit in the FA Cup early next month. So plenty to still play for.

But for Guardiola, he must now accept that this City side is not quite yet capable of scaling the heights of versions past. The incredibly high standards set during four title wins in a row are a barometer few can be judged by and to measure this new-look City against such incredible feats is understandable but perhaps unfair.

The progress from last season is clear; twelve months ago City would have snapped your hand off for the position they are now in. The Blues boss said on Friday that if his side dropped points against the Hammers then the title race would be over. He rowed back on that after the game, reiterating his belief and the desire within the squad to fight to the end.

But Guardiola’s side are not consistent enough to go the distance on four fronts, they are not slick enough to put teams to bed, and they are not quite all on the same page on the pitch to play with a freedom and a confidence that the door will be battered down if the knocking continues.

Make no mistake this City side is a very good outfit – but it’s not the outfit of old. As Rodri said after the game at the London Stadium: “The mistake we can make is to think we are the unbelievable team that we used to be. We are in a moment that we are in a process to come back.”

City might yet come back against Madrid, they might yet come back in the title race, but both feel a step too far just now.

Man City’s next six fixtures compared to Arsenal after title race twist

Manchester City were unable to match Arsenal’s home win against Everton in the Premier League title race

Manchester City were held to a 1-1 draw by West Ham in the Premier League, denting their title hopes after Arsenal’s earlier 2-0 win over Everton. Bernardo Silva scored the opening goal for the visitors but that was later cancelled out by Konstantinos Mavropanos.

Prior to City’s game, Arsenal had the chance to extend their lead over City to 10 points and did so courtesy of the late strikes from double substitutes Viktor Gyokeres and Max Dowman. However, City’s game at the London Stadium was one of City’s two games in hand over the Gunners.

The other fixture is a rescheduled match against Crystal Palace.

City star slams defending vs Forest and makes title race admission

Manchester City dropped points on leaders Arsenal after a 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest on Wednesday night.

Manchester City full-back Matheus Nunes criticised his side’s defending against Nottingham Forest but insisted the Premier League title race is still alive. City dropped seven points behind Arsenal on Wednesday night after drawing 2-2 with Forest.

Antoine Semenyo’s seventh goal for City opened the scoring. Morgan Gibbs-White’s backheel levelled the game ten minutes into the second half. The Blues regained the lead through Rodri’s header but Elliot Anderson’s curled finish ensured the game was drawn. City felt they could have had a penalty when Erling Haaland was brought down by goalkeeper Matz Sels but referee Darren England waved appeals away.

Speaking to the BBC post-match, Nunes was critical of his team, claiming they were too relaxed. “Fantastic goals because we gave them space,” he said. “If you don’t give them space, they have to decide under pressure. We have to be more focused, especially when we are winning – because we have to control the game and not relax.

“I think we relaxed a little bit after we scored.” Nunes refused to comment on the refereeing decisions but remained optimistic when discussing the title race. “There’s still a lot of games to play, we have a lot of experienced players in the squad,” he explained.

“For sure, we’re going to be ready because we’re still in every competition with good chances to win everything. We’ve been in this position before and we know seven points is a big difference, but we have to do our job.

“If we don’t do our job, in the end we don’t have any chance. It doesn’t matter how many points we are behind [Arsenal], we’re still going to try and chase them.”

City have nine games remaining in the Premier League but their focus now shifts away from the title race. On Saturday, they travel to Newcastle in the fifth round of the FA Cup before a trip to Real Madrid in the Champions League round of 16 first leg.

The Blues’ next Premier League clash is on March 14 when they face West Ham at the London Stadium.

Fabian Hurzeler demands rule change as Man City suffer Arsenal title race blow

Arsenal secured a 1-0 win over Brighton on Wednesday evening, with Seagulls boss Fabian Hurzeler left fuming with Manchester City’s Premier League title rivals

Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler has launched a scathing attack on Arsenal’s approach during their Premier League encounter on Wednesday night. Bukayo Saka netted the decisive goal after merely nine minutes, with the Gunners holding firm and producing a strong rearguard action to secure three crucial points in their Premier League title battle with Manchester City.

Nevertheless, Hurzeler viewed it rather differently to a resilient showing from Arsenal, as he savagely criticised the methods they employed at the Amex Stadium and the time-wasting throughout.

During his post-match media briefing, Hurzeler stated: “There was only one team who tried to play football today. I ask one question. Did you see a Premier League game, a goalkeeper going down three times?

“We should focus on our performance, we cannot control these types of things. I made my point before the game.”

Get MEN Premium now for just £1 HERE – or get involved in our City WhatsApp group by clicking HERE. You can also join our City Facebook page by clicking HERE and don’t miss out on our brilliant selection of newsletters HERE.

Regarding the opposition, he continued: “Very difficult, but we tried hard. We tried to keep the ball moving. We tried to create chances. These types of opponents you can only punish them.”

City now trail Arsenal by seven points at the top of the table after dropping points against Nottingham Forest. City twice surrendered their lead in a 2-2 draw.

Upon being informed of Hurzeler’s remarks before addressing journalists, Arteta merely responded: “What a surprise.”

He chose not to expand further on his response. When subsequently questioned whether he was concerned by other managers’ opinions, he replied: “It depends on the comment, the person and the purpose.”

Hurzeler was also incensed throughout the match, with a heated exchange occurring between him and Arteta on the touchline during the opening period.

The Brighton manager repeatedly protested to fourth official Michael Salisbury about Arsenal’s time-wasting when taking set-pieces and goal-kicks. He was equally angered by the decision not to award a spot-kick for a Gabriel Martinelli challenge on Mats Wieffer.

Prior to kick-off, he had already expressed his frustration regarding the duration taken for corners and throw-ins, making it evident he is far from impressed with Arsenal’s approach to such situations.

“Sometimes they spend one minute to take a corner if they are leading,” said Hurzeler, who suggested a new rule should be brought in. “The main topic is to make a clear rule on how much time you can waste for a corner, for a throw-in, for a free-kick.

“I think no-one recognises it, but when Arsenal have a corner and they are leading, sometimes they spend over one minute just to take a corner. Therefore, I think we just have to make clear rules. The game is changing so much.

“I have the opinion that every supporter who pays a lot of money to go to the stadiums and watch our games should see the same net-to-game time because they pay a lot of money.

“They want to see a football event and they don’t want to see maybe 50 minutes the ball is in the game and 40 minutes the game is not. Therefore, that’s how I see it, but I think we won’t change these rules immediately.”

Man United’s predicted Premier League finish after title race admission

Manchester United interim head coach Michael Carrick refused to rule his side out of the Premier League title race ahead of the trip to Newcastle

Manchester United interim head coach Michael Carrick raised eyebrows this week when asked about the title race. United have not lost since Carrick returned to Old Trafford, with a draw at West Ham the only blemish on an otherwise spotless record. The victory left the Reds 13 points behind leaders Arsenal, albeit they have a game in hand.

Despite the Premier League title looking out of reach, Carrick insisted he was not giving up on top spot. “Listen, you can’t rule anything out in football, but we’ve got to be realistic and know where it’s at,” he explained.

“I think we’ve just got to try and keep winning games and see. Above us now there are two fantastic teams. There are some really good teams in and around us. We’ve had a good run, we’re certainly not getting carried away. You’ve got to be patient but you’ve got to be living in the moment a little bit, certainly, take the confidence.

“Wherever that’s going to take us, we’ll just have to see. But we’ll keep pushing anyway.” Considering the start to the season, United fans would be happy with Champions League qualification but Carrick’s ambition will please supporters.

With this in mind, MEN Sport has looked at where United are predicted to finish this season, according to Opta. Despite currently sitting third in the Premier League, Opta expects the Reds to finish fourth behind Aston Villa. Carrick’s side leapfrogged Villa on goal difference last weekend after they lost at Wolverhampton Wanderers and United beat Crystal Palace.

United are expected to achieve 66 points and finish just one point worse off than Unai Emery’s side. To achieve that tally from their last ten games, the Reds would be expected to average 1.5 points per match.

While they are predicted to end the season just behind Villa, United are expected to finish three points above Liverpool and six ahead of seventh place Chelsea. As for the title race, the Reds have been given just a 0.02 per cent chance of winning the Premier League.

Arsenal remain favourites to lift the title, with a predicted tally of 83 points, five ahead of runners-up Manchester City and 17 points above the Reds. But a win tonight at Newcastle, coupled with Arsenal dropping points at Brighton could give Carrick and United further grounds for optimism.
