Suspected drunk driver crashes into ambulance taking person to hospital
The ambulance was transporting someone to hospital when the crash happened
A suspected drunk driver crashed into an ambulance on the Cambridgeshire border. Suffolk Police were called to a crash along the A1101 at Icklingham at around 11.20pm on Sunday (March 22).
A car had crashed into an East of England Ambulance that was transporting someone to hospital. Officers arrested a man on suspicion of driving with excess alcohol and driving without third party insurance. The man remains in custody.
A police spokesperson said: “A male was arrested along the A1101 at Icklingham, on suspicion of drink driving after a collision with an East of England ambulance (not on an emergency response), that was transporting a patient/ family member to hospital.
“He was also arrested on suspicion of not having insurance. Luckily it was minor and there were no injuries.”
