It is alleged an altercation was heard at the rear of a building. When cops arrived, a male victim was found with stab wounds and without vital signs.

Police said the suspect fled the area before officers arrived at the scene.

On Thursday, investigators identified the victim as 27-year-old Ahmed Hassan Asif.

Homicide Det. Sgt. Sajeev Nair described Asif as “a hard-working young man … an auto mechanic by trade and he very much loved by his family and his nieces. He’s going to be missed by his family.”

Police would only say that the victim lived in the Greater Toronto Area.

On Saturday, police announced the arrest of a suspect.

The accused is scheduled to appear in court Sunday morning, cops said.

Police had said they believe the incident was not random and that the accused and victim knew each other.

A crashed BMW on Gamble Ave. was also seized by police during the investigation.

“That white-coloured vehicle we believe is involved in this, it’s connected to this and it has been seized,” said Nair.

Asif is Toronto’s fifth homicide of the year.
