Stars’ Heiskanen to have MRI, status uncertain for Game 1 of playoffs
The top Dallas Stars defenceman will have an MRI to assess the severity of his lower-body injury, general manager Jim Nill told reporters Friday.
Heiskanen was hurt in the first period of Thursday’s win over the Minnesota Wild following a check from Ryan Hartman and exited immediately. He did not return to the contest.
The 26-year-old has nine goals and 54 assists through 77 games this season.
Radek Faksa and Michael Bunting were spotted skating Friday, with Bunting “hopeful” to play Saturday against the New York Rangers, per Nill.
Faksa has been out of the Dallas lineup since he suffered an upper-body injury while representing Czechia at the 2026 Winter Olympics. Bunting, meanwhile, was forced out of a March 29 game against the Philadelphia Flyers with a lower-body injury.
The Stars have already clinched a playoff spot and are jostling for seeding in the competitive Central Division. They are four points ahead of the third-place Minnesota Wild with three games to go.
