South Carolina knocks off defending champs UConn to reach national championship
The No. 1 overall seed has fallen in March Madness.
South Carolina knocked off UConn and will now have the chance to play for a third national championship in five years.
The defending champion Huskies go out in the Final Four after being favourites to go back-to-back.
Ta’Niya Latson guided the Gamecocks to victory with a game-high 16 points. Canadian Agot Makeer also added 14 points, including a massive three-pointer late in the fourth quarter.
Azzi Fudd, the projected No. 1 overall pick in the WNBA draft, struggled in her final game with the Huskies. She posted just eight points on 3-of-15 shooting.
South Carolina will face the winner of Texas and UCLA in the national championship on Sunday.
