A young skier is “unresponsive” after being rescued and transported to the Alberta Children’s Hospital in life-threatening condition following reports of an avalanche west of Calgary, Friday afternoon.
EMS said two skiers were swept up in the avalanche, but one was able to escape uninjured.
First responders including RCMP responded to a call from Nakiska Ski Area around 12:45 p.m.
A Nakiska spokesperson said in a statement to CBC News, “Our hearts are with the family and friends of the individual.
“We are sending our deepest care to the family dealing with this horrible situation. In these difficult times, our entire mountain community shares in your grief and sorrow.”
