Former Manchester United star Scott McTominay is reportedly not in talks to join a Saudi Arabian outfit, despite claims to the contrary. The Napoli talisman is seemingly committed to his current club amid talk he could be on the move again this summer.
Rumours have circulated during the international break, with some suggesting McTominay is attracting interest from the Saudi Pro League. However, the speculation has been dismissed as little more than that.
Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano recently offered an update concerning McTominay’s ambitions. And it’s positive news for Napoli fans.
Antonio Conte’s side are currently in the running to retain the Serie A title. They sit third in the table and seven points off leaders Inter Milan with eight games to play.

McTominay, 29, has been nothing short of a revelation since moving to Naples in 2024. His first season in Italy ended with him being named Serie A’s Most Valuable Player and receiving a Ballon d’Or nomination, further proof that his £25.7million price tag was a steal.
He has since shown that debut campaign was no aberration after contributing mightily for Conte’s side once more this term. McTominay has 11 goals and four assists from 36 games this season, encouraging talk of another high-profile move.
Napoli find themselves in a quandary, given that McTominay will soon have just two years left on his contract. The midfielder is set to turn 30 in December, the point at which player valuations tend to start dipping beyond the curve of their peak potential.
On the plus side, the Italians paid a rather meagre fee for McTominay in hindsight and so could be braced to run his deal down in order to get the most out of his prime years. On the other hand, they could be tempted to cash in and make a big profit on a player whose price tag has ballooned thanks to his spectacular form since leaving United.
Michael Carrick, meanwhile, will rue the day United agreed to let his former team-mate leave before he arrived at the helm. The club could really do with a player of McTominay’s dimensions now, with Casemiro poised to leave and midfield reportedly a priority area for recruitment.

While United may regret selling the Scot in general, they at least had the foresight to include a sell-on clause in his contract. That means they’ll be owed 10 per cent of any fee Napoli receives should they decide to sell.
In any case, Napoli supporters likely won’t be ready to bid farewell to their modern-day cult hero just yet. McTominay could play some role for Scotland when they face the Ivory Coast in a friendly at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Tuesday.
