Weapons seized in major police raids across Cambridgeshire

Samurai swords, machetes, and guns were seized in major police raids across Cambridgeshire. Cambridgeshire Police carried out 12 warrants across Peterborough, Cambridge, and Huntingdon last week.

Officers made 32 arrests and seized thousands of pounds worth of Class A and B drugs, cash, and designer goods. A number of weapons were also seized, including samurai swords, knives, machetes, firearms, and a taser.

Several addresses suspected of being ‘cuckooed’, where drug dealers take over the home of a vulnerable person in order to use it as a base for dealing, were also visited.

Police have since charged three people in relation to drug offences. These are:

  • Cameron Black, 22, of no known address, was charged with being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine and heroin following warrants in Peterborough and Downham Market on March 3. He appeared at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court on March 4 where he pleaded guilty to the offences. He will be sentenced at Cambridge Crown Court on April 15.
  • Artur Shabani, 26, of High Street, Eye, was charged with being concerned in supplying cocaine after a warrant in the village on March 2. He appeared at Cambridge Magistrates’ Court the following day and will appear at Cambridge Crown Court on April 14.
  • Levi George, 21, of Kings Ripton Road, Sapley, Huntingdon, has been charged with being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine, heroin and cannabis. He will appear at Cambridge Crown Court on April 2.

The warrants took place between March 2 and March 8 as part of County Lines Intensification Week, led by the National Police Chief’s Council.

Detective Inspector Shish Thind said: “County lines is an abhorrent crime which devastates communities and causes long-lasting harm to vulnerable people who are exploited for criminal gain.

“This week of action was an important part of our ongoing work to combat the issue in Cambridgeshire and protect the vulnerable people being targeted by gangs. We will continue to work relentlessly to disrupt organised crime groups and bring drug dealers before the courts.”
