SAAQ revokes certification for Steps Driving School in Dorval

Quebec’s auto insurance agency announced Tuesday it has revoked certification for Steps Driving School in Dorval.
“The SAAQ determined that this business could not continue operating as a recognized driving school” after verifying it did not meet eligibility requirements for a road safety education program, the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec said in the announcement. The decision came into effect Feb. 25.
Steps Driving School, located at 2101 Trans-Canada Highway near Sources Blvd., was formerly authorized to train students for a Class 5 driver’s licence.
For the next five years, the owners of the school will be prohibited from owning or operating another recognized driving school offering a road safety education program.
Asked about specifics, a SAAQ spokesperson said the school “has not complied with the conditions relating to the recognition of a road safety education program service provider” but reasons for the sanctions are “confidential.”
According to Quebec’s business registry, the school is owned by Saleem Ghadban.
Steps Driving School’s website
says the school has “permanently closed.”
“We are deeply grateful for the trust and support of our students and community over the years. For any questions regarding your file, records or refunds, the SAAQ is the only authority that can help you,” the website says.
The announcement by the SAAQ came
one day after it permanently shut down its Place Vertu outlet
following an investigation, with the results of the probe being given to police.
