Race-by-race tips and analysis for Warwick Farm on Wednesday

Selections based on a soft track
Race 1
9. Seraphox trialled quite well before being thrown in the deep end in the Todman on debut and he wasn’t disgraced in a race dominated on speed by the winner Paradoxium. Sitting three wide midfield didn’t help. 13. Switch On has done nothing wrong in two trial wins and she picked them up with a good degree of ease in her latest on Newcastle’s Beaumont track. Worth keeping safe. 7. Lafite was a $1.4 million purchase and has trialled a number of times over the past five months. Chased home okay in the latest of them. Market a guide to confidence around him.
How to play it: Seraphox to win.
Race 2
9. Blitzgal has been excellent in both trials without having a light shining on her. Settled well back in the second of them and worked home down the outside with purpose to be close up. She could be a good each-way hope at odds. 6. Mr Miller won his first trial then held in behind them in the second just a week ago and wasn’t beaten far. He’s drawn ideally and imagine he’s not far off the pace. A contender. 5. Marchon was in the market at his only start and was slowly out, costing him any hope behind Raging Force back in July. Trials are handy enough and he’s aided by a claim.
How to play it: Blitzgal each-way.
Race 3
4. Natoya is a more than handy mare resuming at a suitable trip and if she’s in order she’ll be hard to beat. Impressed winning over a mile in the spring and was competitive in a couple of starts in similar sorts of grades after that. Can be competitive fresh. 8. Oso Spirited returned from a decent break and led all the way over this track and distance to win a maiden a few weeks ago. Jumps quickly in grade but will give a good account. 6. Mighty Myrtle could surprise back into a smaller field after giving away impossible starts in big fields in country features.
How to play it: Natoya to win.
Race 4
8. Mirzann looks ready to win after three runs back and put the writing on the wall with a narrow defeat when up to this sort of trip at Wyong two weeks ago. Plenty of favours here, draws well and if he’s going to break a run of outs it’s now. 10. De Louviere is back up in class after racing away at Kembla Grange in a 2400m event a couple of weeks ago. Well worth respecting. 9. Suit Of Armour has the blinkers on after failing as a short priced favourite in a similar race at the start of the month. If he finds his best he’s dangerous.
How to play it: Mirzann to win.
Race 5
9. Casserousse is one of the more interesting runners on the day. Showed talent with a couple of big wins from the front to start last campaign before getting involved in a speed battle and dropping out. Nice trials, sure to run very well. 7. Rantan found himself right on the speed second-up when he boxed on for third over this track and trip almost a month ago. Might be suited looking to swoop late. 6. Vella’s Best hasn’t done a lot wrong with three easy country wins on end including first-up at Canberra as a $1.50 chance. Has a close third to King’s Secret in his form.
How to play it: Casserousse to win.
Race 6
1. Deep Pleasure has a handy record including a stakes placing, albeit in the 2024 spring. Won first-up at this trip last time in and her trials over the shorter trips have been pleasing. 4. Metallic Cat was game on debut when softened up then ran them ragged up to this trip at Kensington last week. Will roll across looking to lead and she might be able to make the step up in class look easy if left alone. 2. Vienna Vixen was a bit disappointing at Wyong but if you go on her previous effort where she was a close third, she’s not out of this.
How to play it: Deep Pleasure to win.
Race 7
5. Call Me Gorgeous couldn’t have been more impressive on his return from Hong Kong when romping in at Newcastle a few weeks back. If he brings that last effort into this he’ll be hard to beat. 4. Bryant overcame a wide run to finish over the top in a Randwick Midway a month ago and it’s not the worst outcome if he has to do the same from a wide gate again. 8. Young Mister Grace is potentially a huge improver second-up after he was slowly out then checked out in a strong Provincial-Midway qualifier at Gosford. If he gets away cleanly he’s some chance.
How to play it: Call Me Gorgeous to win.
Race 8
1. Formal Display was too strong when resuming at Wyong and there’s no reason to think he can’t hold that form with a bit of improvement in fitness. Winnable race and a good chance. 3. Hanau was impressive winning a similar race last time out running straight past Monte Veebee. Has a different set up from a wider gate but has to be one of the hopes. 11. Unique Ambition gave a huge sight in front in the G2 Guy Walter then in the market and weakened up to a mile after that. Capable of making her presence felt.
How to play it: Formal Display to win.
Best Bets: Race 1 (9) Seraphox; Race 4 (8) Mirzann.
Best Value: Race 2 (9) Blitzgal
