Hours after an outage, the Northwest Territories Power Corporation says electricity was restored to customers in Fort Good Hope Saturday afternoon.

Utility spokesman Doug Prendergast had said seven customers in Fort Good Hope, N.W.T. lost electricity at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, following a fire.

He said the utility became aware of the fire after it affected the distribution system, but had no details on when the blaze began.

He said in an email that a line crew was on its way to the community of about 500 people on Saturday morning and was expected to arrive by early afternoon.

Power was restored just after 1 p.m.

Prendergast said crews needed to inspect powerlines before starting work.

A warming shelter was set up in the community hall during the outage.
