Police officer accused of showing partner video from incident
She’s also accused of sharing information about an investigation with her partner’s mother
A Cambridgeshire police officer has been accused of showing bodycam footage to her partner and another person while on a trip to the pub. PC Maddy Betts is due to face a hearing next week over allegations that she committed gross misconduct.
The Cambridgeshire officer is accused of acting in a “manner likely to bring discredit upon the police service”, according to the public hearing notice. She faces a total of three allegations made against her.
This includes allegations that the officer recorded body worn video onto her mobile phone between February 1, 2024 and October 18, 2024. It is claimed that she showed the video to her partner.
On June 13, 2024, the officer is accused of accessing up to four body worn videos of an incident on her work laptop whilst off duty. It is alleged that she recorded this video onto her mobile phone and showed it to her partner at home.
On another date, PC Betts is reportedly said to have attempted to show her partner and another individual bodycam footage whilst in a pub. In another allegation, between January 1, 2024 and March 1, 2024, PC Betts is accused of giving her partner’s mother information about an investigation involving a child.
According to the public hearing notice, the child had been investigated for sexual harassment and/or assault and PC Betts allegedly gave details of that investigation. The hearing is set to take place in person at Lysander House in Tempsford, Bedfordshire.
